My favorite grocer in Shoreline 10/19/2007

Great seafood, and beer selections. Plus a respectable asian food section. Prices are a little higher than Safeway, but worth it. more

Best Bakery in all Seattle! 10/8/2007

I have used Central Market Bakery for all my cake needs for the past 2 years. All of my friends have started using them as well, but tasting the fresh cakes that I have had at Baby Showers, Birthdays, Graduations, & Weddings that I have hosted. The cake is made fresh the day you pick it up. The decorating of the cakes is unblievable. They are also so friendly, and try to accomodate your request. I usually use the Central Market Bakery in Mill Creek, but did use the one in North Seattle as well. I will definately be using them to order my wedding cake this next year. more

Best neighborhood store 10/31/2006

I love Central Market! We've tried doing our weekly shopping at the bland Top Foods nearer our house, but we always end up with a higher total. And the selection at Central is outstanding; there's no reason to shop anywhere else. And of course, no stupid card is needed. See ya later, Safeway and Albertsons! Among its charms, Central includes: a deli where the friendly guy behind the counter will let you sample meats and cheeses (oh so many kinds!); a meat counter with a huge variety of yummies, a great wine selection, with selections from the modest to the extravagant; Asian foods of all sorts, fantastic fresh fruits and veggies; and a cheese selection second to few others. I look forward to every shopping trip. more

Amazing selection, fresh food, nice workers 10/27/2006

Central Market is top notch in all of their departments. There is the traditional grocery store items and the bakery, deli, produce etc...is exceptional. The bakery is well stocked with tons of different kinds of cakes, pastries, lots of products made by small companies in the area. Moving on, there is a huge salad bar with a ton of different options. The meat case is packed with a variety of meat and cheese, more than I have seen anywhere. There is a separate area of prepared foods with about 5 different soups a day, sandwiches, burritos, turkey dinners and the standard fried chicken, jo-jos etc. Central Market has a bulk foods section with granolas, baking items, tons of candy (including sugar free) and a nice wall of bulk teas and spices. The store also has a nice selection of beauty and bath products all of which are natural. There is a large section of asian foods. Seafood and meat cases are always are fresh and well displayed. I am very picky about my produce and Central Market is one of two places I will buy it from (ballard market being the other). The produce here is reasonably priced and always fresh. There is a sushi counter in the middle of the produce and sushi is made throughout the day. The floral area always has lots to choose from. Prices at Central Market are a bit high, but their sale items are a deal. I like going to Central Market because they have what I might describe as a food court in the store. There is a Nathans Hot Dog place that also serves pizza, a mexican place and chinese food. Central Market is consistently clean (although, this doesn't seem true for the restrooms) and the workers are always friendly. more

Central Market ROCKS for various meats to BBQ... 9/1/2006

If you haven't been to Central Market on North 99 then you're missing out. This place has an incredible meat department that has more kinds of products than I can shake a skewer at!!! Actually, I'm really just the one that buys the food and it's my partner that does the cooking. (He's an amazing cook!) We've been big fans of Central Market for a while. If you like Whole Foods, you'll like CM. But, what I like about CM more than WF is that the produce section is even larger than the Roosevelt WF location. And, it's even more diverse since the clientele going into CM runs all over the ethnicity rainbow. The areas where they don't do as well are in the wine department but that's okay because I've got places more local to me that I can venture to - that's where this place's sister location, Ballard Market, comes in. In the summer they have excellent choices for French dry rose' wines. YUM! more

Good selection! 8/12/2006

I really like Central Market. You can get asian stuff too. Like Udon, Soba, Japanese snacks etc... And they sell *good* sushi too! I'm Japanese and kinda picky about sushi but this market's sushi is great. I also like salad bar ($6.99/pound). more

Best selection on Organic produce, ethnic foods, seafood 7/2/2006

Think Global Market within reach. Central Market incorporates Uwajimaya, PCC/Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and QFC under one roof. I was astounded by how much inventory of perishables they keep in stock. They all look so fresh! Reasons to check them out: 1) Abundant selection on produce 2) Ethnic variety of produce, dry goods, freezer section - lumpia 3) Organic produce, frozen veggies - Stahlbush 4) Food sample stations and food demonstrations - learn! 5) Cheese - dubliner, chevre 6) Bakery - fresh humbows! 7) Seafood - fresh clams or lobster anyone? 8) Price - reasonable. With the price of gas these days, why go to 3 different places to complete your shopping list? They have a coupon in the Chinook Book. more

Produce, Seafood, and Whole Grain Heaven 5/31/2006

I love everything about Central Market. You don't feel like you're in a big chain grocery store with it's selection, and the prices are unbeatable. They have every fruit and veggie you can think of at fruit market prices! My only grip is that it's arrangement is kind-of clumsy - plan on taking a while if you have a shopping list, as some things can be hard to find if you don't know the store. The seafood is fresh and the guys working there are friendly and knowledgeable. They also have bulk grains of every kind if you feel the need to make that 11 whole grain bread! more

The mecca for real foodies 5/17/2006

This place is an unpretentious treasure-trove, and my nomination for the best grocery store in the whole greater Seattle area. You can go in and buy basic staples like paper towels and Cheerios for good prices , or you can browse through a wonderland of seafood... there is freshly made sausage, organic meat, strangely-shaped ethnic produce which you want to buy just for the bizarreness factor. It's the only place I've ever encountered fresh durian, which is a huge southeast Asian fruit that smells like roadkill... This market is just irresistible. It's got everything you could possibly want, and a lot of things you've never even heard of. Plus teapots and dishtowels, free samples and prepared goodies and 25-lb sacks of rice... If I didn't live all the way across town from it, I'd go there every time I shopped. It can get crowded at peak times, and it takes a while to navigate, so don't be in a hurry your first time there. more

Try Central Market on Aurora 3/18/2006

I've not looked here for green tea but they have a wonderful selection of ethnic foods. Check out my review on it! more

Central Market Shoreline 3/2/2006

It's worth the drive if you live in the mid-north end. They have the best selection of of fruits, veggies, peppers, mushrooms whateva and at a good price. The all natural beef tenderloin you can cut with a fork! If you want to taste something just ask one of the uber friendly employee's to cut a slice for you. Free cooking classes on Tuesdays! Great natural health, herbal, & bulk section. A fabulous array of cheeses and breads. You can't beat the Asian section! What's really cool is that you can whiz around the isles in your roller skating shoes or on your cart cause it's never too crowded! Overall, I think it's the employee's that always make my trip to the central market and enjoyable one. Next time you need a bunch of wacky ingredients for that perfect recipe or you just have a hankering for some fresh kimchee, go to the Central Market! more

Best Produce and Asian products. 2/5/2006

Wonderful shopping experience! Great produce and Asian markets. One of the best kept is the cooking class on Thurs nights at 6 PM. The Chef is funny and great recipes. Lots of samples to taste. Also, on Friday nights during the summers, there's a BBQ and band. Check for their special events and sales. more

Great Atmosphere! 12/31/2005

This place is so much more than a grocery store. They have the most amazing seafood department that my kids think is the aquarium! They also have a large asian selection with very good prices. Their bulk foods department is very complete and they have a large natural foods/herbs section. One of my favorite things is the decorative glycerine soap by the pound - it's very fun! Their grocery prices are on the high end so I don't do my main shopping htere. But I always find the specialty items I'm looking for! more

Great clean market 11/14/2005

Central market is locating in Shoreline. This market is clean stocked with everything you need in your kitchen from A to Z and North America to Asia. The fresh deli and seafood department is awesome. Also a must is to pick up some freshly made sushi, the California roll is my favorite. Parking is convenient and always available. more

We love Central Market! 10/19/2005

Central Market is a large, specialty market in Shoreline. It carries a large selection of produce, seafood, meats, wines, cheeses, and asian foods. I love that I don't have to travel to the International District or an Asian grocery store to find what I need. Central Market also offers fabulous seasonal events, music, classes, and other services that help build community. The Market is also a great place to go to grab a meal-on-the-run. They have a fantastic salad bar, rotiserrie chicken and meats, panini sandwiches from the deli, a sushi department, and a small food court. The prices at Central Market are a little high, but they do have incredible quality and selection. more

You might give this grocery a try too. 10/14/2005

I don't know if it has what you're looking for but it is full of ethnic food choices. Even if your item is missing, it's a great store to wander around in! more

Great market! 9/26/2005

Central market is a locally owned supermarket with a wide variety of different ethic selection. You can practically purchase any kinds of products from this store. The store is clean and attractive to shop at. It also has a wide display of wine to choose from and deli that taste like homecook food. more

not your average grocery 9/9/2005

I enjoy going to central market for the fancier things- they have amazing meats, vegetables, breads, but when it comes to the basic necessities I want to buy at the same time, i feel they fall short. They don't always have the products I need in stock and it seems to just cater to the specialty items rather than everyday needs. more

Awesome Grocery Store in Shoreline 8/19/2005

Central Market is easy to miss as you're passing by the Sears Plaza on Aurora Ave N, but if you take the time to stop, you'll be rewarded nicely. The strong points of this market are their produce, seafood, and bulk sections. Live oysters are available year-round, for prices comparable to Uwajimaya. The produce section is excellent. They always try to bring in different and new varieties of fruits. There is a large Asian section, in case you don't want to trek to the ID or up to Ranch 99 in Lynnwood. There is also a take and bake pizza place here. A great asset to the 'hood! more

Best Overall Grocery Store 8/17/2005

Central Market is a one-stop, get everything store. From cornflakes for breakfast to filet mignon for dinner, you can find it here. Need a special kind of vegetable for a recipe, the produce department is over 10, 000 square feet and has everything ever grown. The wine guys are knowledgable and will always give you the best wine suggestion to go with any food type. The best part is that although the store has specialty shops all over within it, including a huge Asian foods selection, you can also buy all of your regular groceries and not spend your whole paycheck in one trip! more
