Kona Kitchen is a cozy, casual restaurant located in the Maple Leaf area. It feels like an authentic, unpretentious Hawaiian hangout. The food is really good. Their breakfast menu includes delicious, fluffy, and huge pancakes, as well as bacon, eggs, portugese sausage, and rice. The lunch and dinner menus feature some dishes that you would expect from the kitchen of a Hawaiian grandmother. They have Kalua Pig, Broke da mouth Beef Stew, and many other island favorites. They also serve the plate lunches that are common in Hawaii. These usually consist of eggs, rice, macaroni salad, and a meat dish.
This is a great, family-friendly restaurant run by nice people. I just wish they offered a children's menu.

The Hair Chair has a great kid-friendly set-up. The walls are brightly painted with a jungle theme. The "chairs" are shaped as trucks, cars, and animals. My son has gotten his hair cut by Kimberley since just before his first birthday. He is now 3 1/2 years old. She always has toys and books for him to play with as she's cutting his hair. She is very patient and always does a great job with the cut. My son looks forward to going to the Hair Chair for a haircut and he has never cried or fussed during the cut. My only complaint is that it is located at U Village and the parking there can be really difficult.

The Paper Zone in Shoreline is smaller than the SODO location, but it is very well-stocked. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The store has paper, rubberstamps, cards, gift wrapping, and supplies for many types of paper crafts. I really love having such a great resource like this in my neighborhood!

From it's location, it's hard to believe that this place turns out such high quality sushi! It's just north of Sam's Club on Aurora. Don't let this stop you from trying this place! The interior is clean, sleek, and modern. Almost minimalistic. It almost feels more like a downtown hotspot! Their sushi selection is the most creative and extensive that I have seen in this area. They even have fried sushi. It may not sound good, but it tastes fantastic! I would also like to recommend the whole salt and pepper fried chicken. It is amazingly crisp on the outside and super tender on the inside. This one dish, at $16, can feed 4 people. The prices at this restaurant seem a little higher than your average sushi joint, but it is well worth it! The entree portions are large and they have high quality, delicious sushi. Try it!

All For Kids Books is an inviting shop near University Village. There are very few bookstores that cater exclusively to children, and this one does it extremely well. All For Kids hosts some of the top children's authors and illustrators from around the world. The walls of the book talk room are covered with quotes, signatures, and doodles from many of these great authors and illustrators. After an author or illustrator has visited, they will sign additional copies of their books. There are often autographed copies of books on the shelves here! This is a great, local independent and I strongly encourage everyone to visit this store!

Central Market is a large, specialty market in Shoreline. It carries a large selection of produce, seafood, meats, wines, cheeses, and asian foods. I love that I don't have to travel to the International District or an Asian grocery store to find what I need. Central Market also offers fabulous seasonal events, music, classes, and other services that help build community. The Market is also a great place to go to grab a meal-on-the-run. They have a fantastic salad bar, rotiserrie chicken and meats, panini sandwiches from the deli, a sushi department, and a small food court. The prices at Central Market are a little high, but they do have incredible quality and selection.

Top Ten Toys gets my vote for best toy store in Seattle. It is housed in a large space with easy parking. The store is always well-organized and stocked with fun, educational toys. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. My son especially loves playing the the Thomas trains. I also appreciated that the restroom has both an adult toilet and a kid-sized toilet. This is a place that is all about the kids! While their prices may be higher than the chain stores, I don't mind paying a small premium to support such a wonderful, local, independent store!

The staff is very friendly. The woman who does the brow waxing is awesome and quick! I have had my hair done a few times here. The stylists have always done a great job, but the price is steep.

I love this scrapbook store! They recently expanded and the store is now very spacious and well-lit. This store always has the latest and greatest scrapbook supplies. They have an enormous collection of dies in the die cut center, and their workroom is great. This is the best scrapbook store in the Seattle Area!
