Amazing beer selection, good food, fair prices 10/19/2011

Brouwer's easily has the best beer selection of any bar in the city. They have more beers on tap than most have total, with hundreds of bottles available on top of that. Prices are actually lower than a lot of places charge for premium imported beers. The beer selection alone would be enough to get me there for a drink, but the food is also impressively good. It's not up to the quality of a food-first gastropub like Quinn's or Smith, but it's tasty, well-executed and not too pricey. The place is big, but it does fill up pretty early most nights. Service is admittedly very uneven, and the bouncers take themselves laughably too seriously, but those are both small bumps in the road to a consistently wonderful experience. more

LUVED IT! 3/7/2007

This place is great! I happened to be there the same night as the owner, who is an awsome guy. Turns out he also owns a cool beer store nearby....I had the cheese plate (very tasty), pasta (tastier) and lotsa drinks. I actually didnt drink any beer that night, but the cocktails are awsome as well. more

Brouwers cafe 6/20/2006

Nothing but good things to say about this place, total class without any pretentiousness! Excellent decor, perfect lighting and a 40 foot bar clinically set up with enough quality beer to sink a battleship! Take your pick from local domestic through European imports served in appropriate glassware buy savvied up tenders. 10/10 more

Browers is the most spacious bar in fremont 3/17/2006

I like the atmosphere a lot. I really don't like bars that are super crowded and Browers is spacious and roomy. And the drinks, food and people are good too. more

Brouwers's Cafe Rocks 12/16/2005

If you're in Fremont and in the mood for a terrific selection of Belgian beers and flemish food, then make a point to stop in at Brouwer's. What the place lacks in "curb appeal" it makes up for in spades when you step inside. A mellow Seattle-cool atmosphere complimented by a terrific beer list and good, simply prepared food. I loved Hopleaf in Chicago when we lived there and now I've found a solid substitute in Seattle. more

Great beer, great food 12/13/2005

I've now lived in Fremont for a few months, and my only regret is that I didn't find Brouwer's earlier. Their beer list is unmatched. period. Some huge number of Belgian beers on tap, and hundreds more in bottles. The interior is wooded modern, and is in fact very upscale (unusual for Fremont). The bi-level open interior allows for people watching as much as generally relaxing. Our food was extremely good. We tried the mussels and the smoked salmon. The mussles were really good, far better prepared than the famous Penn Cove mussels that we tried on Whidbey - very flavorful in a non-fishy way. The smoked salmon was also top notch. Highly recommended. more

Horrendous food 12/10/2005

I hate to say anything poor about a neat new place, but they need to address their food. It was the worst meal I can recall. Three of us, without discussing it, quietly pushed our (different) meals away from us after a few bites. Soggy fries, slimy fried fish ("greasy" is ok for batter-dipped fish, but this was not ok). Indifferent service, and to cap it off, no Belgian beers on tap! We came on a night when they were featuring domestic barely wine styles, which is nice, but shouldn't they keep one of their taps for their signature beers? I did return another night for a beer -- wouldn't try the food again -- and it was good, and the place does have a nice atmosphere. They just need to whip up the kitchen... more

(second) Happiest place on earth 8/17/2005

I can't say enough good things about Brouwers! If you like beer you have to go in for a pint (or 2, or 3, or 4, well okay as many as you can handle). They have a hugh selection on tap (54 I believe) and even more in bottles plus if you have a friend coming who doesn't like beer (for shame) they've got a great (higher end) bar too. The food at Brouwers is also outstanding, it's affordable but delicious (try the crourc monsieur w/ frite it's only like $8 and it's awsome). Many of the brews they have on tap you're not gonna find in other bars like Dicks Bottleworks IPA (brewed especially for the owners of bottleworks who own brouwers as well) and other hard to find gems. Brouwers is the best bar in Seattle hands down! more

Best Bier Hall in Seattle 8/16/2005

Brouwer's Cafe fills a void in Seattle that was needing to be filled. In a neighborhood (Fremont) that is now overrun with frat boys and thumping music, Brouwer's is an old-world haven of sorts dedicated to two things and two things only: great beer and food. And with over 100 beers on tap, ranging from your standard pilsners to any number of excellent Flemish ales, you're sure to find something good. Just remember to bring your checkbook. more

Belgian Beer in Fremont 8/6/2005

Brower's fits well into the Fremont niche, providing a beautiful space and lots of beer. The selection of imported beer is immensely impressive. The bar is big, and has a typical Fremont crowd. The beer is expensive, but it's a good place to take guests, as it's got a bit more character than your typical bar. more

Fantastic new pub in Fremont 4/26/2005

Brouwer's is all about beer... yummy, micro and imported, beer. The decor is nice and cozy... dark woods, stone, etc... but, they've done a good job of bringing in light with a huge overhead skylight and high/side windows. I didn't try any of the food, but the menu looked creative (not your usual pubfood), and the beer selection is fantastic, and as my waitress told me, growing daily. Their goal is to have something like 65 micros/imports on tap, and over 200 bottles. I went with the Stone Brew Arrogant Bastard, and a London Special of some sort (I do need to start taking better notes). All in all, though, it was a fantastic 90 minutes, and I highly recommend Brouwer's for your exercise avoidance activities. p.s. I believe that Brouwer's is associated with, or owned by, the same folks who bring us Bottleworks... a truly fine institution. more
