Very Poor Customer Service 11/25/2011

I have been a committed Apple owner since the MacPlus (way back in the day). Until recently, I thought I would always be an Apple user, but perhaps not. It may be that as the company grows and get more of the market share, customer service will pay the price. I recently took my iMac in for a problem (pinkish snow on screen) that has been occurring since I bought it. They told men it was a failing hard drive and that I needed to replace the hard drive. I did (about $270). The problem occurred a day after I took it home. So, I took the computer back in. I was told I would be called the next day. I was not. In fact, I was not called for a few days, so I finally called them (which by the way, to reach a person at the store requires a minimum of 15 minute wait). I was told, "the tech says they were swamped and will get back to you tomorrow". Tomorrow came and went...nothing. I called again about a week later and (after waiting another 15 minutes) was told again that I would be called "tomorrow". Two days later I was called and they said that it was the video card in the logic board and that would be about $600. I asked if, given the fact that the problem existed from the time I first bought it, if it could be that it was a lemon. That didn't get me very far... probably because it was an Apple! (LOL). The tech went on to say that as it was an old computer (I had it for 4 years), he would "just buy a new one". (I wonder if they will give me my money back for the "failing hard drive" that turned out to be NOT the problem. Any bets, anyone?) more

An iTunes gift card for the music lovers 11/22/2006

I can't go wrong when I give the people whom I love, who loves music, an Apple iTunes gift card ( http://www.apple.com/ ). The denominations run as low as $20/$25 and can be purchased at an Apple store. Visit their site for one nearest you. I liked this option because it eliminates the guesswork - I didn't have to keep track of their favorite music, if they already have it or whatnot. Give them exactly what they like, when they want it. more

Apple Store 10/31/2006

Apple has created a winner with its Apple Store concept. The store has an impressive array of products for all Apple products. The one thing you cannot get here is an inscripted Ipod. The layout is user friendly and the customer service is uniformly helpful. The genius bar concept is good but unfortunately the line is too long to take advantage of it. Classes about different Apple software products are also offered at this location. more

Better return it quickly! 8/21/2006

I enjoy walking around the University Village on a sunny day, and its always fun to stop by the Apple Store to see what's new. I've purchased a few items over the last year, and the friendly geeks at the Genius Bar have helped me a couple of times. Unfortunately, the Apple Store has a very short window for returning defective hardware or software. Be sure to shop on Friday night or Saturday morning and then plan to spend the weekend testing out your new equipment (or software). If something is wrong, run don't walk back to the store to return or exchange your item before the short window for returns is closed. more

The Apple Store in U Village 7/15/2006

I have a Mac (no iPod), but while waiting for repair, there were many people there to get their iPods fixed. One caveat: call first to see what the wait is like! They're a very busy store and the lines for service can be long, hence my four star rating. The techs are called "Geniuses" (don't ask me!) and you'll have to see how busy the Geniuses are before going in. I can guess the weekends are probably very busy. Here's their info: http://www.apple.com/retail/universityvillage/map/ There's also another Apple store (not the official store) on 45th Street just east of I-5, and the University Bookstore on University Ave, though I don't know if either repair iPods. Good luck! more

So helpful 4/20/2006

My husband's ipod died and so he went here to try to fix the situation. They helped him get a new ipod and made it so easy for him. We love our ipods, and it's wonderful to have such a helpful store nearby. They have a great selection of cases, too! more

Good store to buy from 12/8/2005

The shop is amazing. The tech staff is smart and tells you everything you need to know about a G4 to an Ipod. They offer the student discount which is a bonus. They have several ipods on display and let you tamper with them if you want. The store is easy to find as it is loacted at the corner of the ave. They also have the lastest video ipod! more

Great place to learn about iPods 12/8/2005

The staff at the Apple Store are very educated in the ways of the iPod and can help you with virtually anything about it. I was just looking for information, and they provided it to me about every model that might suit my needs. They have nifty gadgets and things to look at, but I would probably go somewhere else to actually buy anything featured in this store. The accessories, for example, seem way too overpriced. more

Yes an Apple store exists! 10/4/2005

I'm just amazed these stores are so hard to come by.. especially in the day of "Ipod". Anyways, I give this place props for just existing. It is also nice to be able to get "hands on" all of the Mac stuff to try out items before you buy them. One other nicety about the Apple store is they sell used stuff too. Now for the downside. This place is expensive! Holy smokes you are paying not a penny under retail for new items. I guess with only having one store they can do that but it stinks. more

Help for your broken iPod 8/18/2005

If you need help for a troubled iPod, call the Apple store in the U village at the beginning of the day and get yourself on the list for the Genius bar. At the Genius bar, someone is there to troubleshoot and make sure things work for you. It's first call, first served and it fills up quickly every day, so call in the morning or as soon as you have iPod troubles. more

Excellent Apple Store 7/2/2005

Going to the Apple store is always fun. I'm not much of an Apple user myself (though I have an old iBook I use once in a while), but when I leave the Apple Store, I feel like I should be. The staff is good, and they've got a huge selection of Apple products and doohickeys. Well worth the visit for the hardware enthusiast. more

Talk about proprietary 6/1/2004

If you like hardware and software that works well and don't mind paying exorbitantly for it, this is the place for you. They make some componentry that's useful in certain circles (media production, heavy-duty graphics) but way overblown for others (education). Overall, their stuff is pretty good but be prepared to spend serious $$$. more
