The Bodysong community is a group of healers (channels, massage therapists, shamans, and music healers) in Seattle, just north of Greenlake. They offer monthy readings, like group Akashic record readings on the new moon (with different topics every month), full moono circles, and a provider list of massage therapists. There is a sweet garden for relaxing as well.

Laxer is very free and welcoming, with a personality that puts you immediately at ease, if that is a worry for you. If you're looking for something like this, check her out!

I took my cat into Greenlake Animal Hospital for a small emergency, and I found them to be very helpful, compassionate, and reasonable. Their after-hours service is pretty exceptional; they stay open fairly late and have found some way to accommodate last-minute appointments with relative ease. I had a good experience both with the techs and the vets, and my cat did well, too!

I have been going to the Seattle Aquarium since I was a small child - and since the big window in the front was a wave pool where I tried to drop my little brother. The Aquarium has grown and changed - and is really wonderful. You enter right into a room with two very large "touch" exhibits, which is wonderful for children and adults alike. The other highlights are the sea horse exhibit, the salmon run (where, on season, spawning salmon go up the ladder above your head as you wind up from the lower levels), and this year there was a baby otter. You can see most of the aquarium in 2 hours, but spend 3 or 4 if you can.

If you're on Orcas Island, it is well worth a visit to the Howe Art Gallery, the main home of artist Anthony A. Howe. He specializes in outdoor kinetic sculpture and wall art, and has quite a following. His pieces are quite spectacular, and are very representative of the Puget Sound and the northwest in general.

The Seattle Art Museum ("the SAM") is a gem in the city. They often have fabulous exhibits throughout the year, and their ongoing displays are well worth visiting time and time again. For art lovers and new comers alike. They make art accessible and fun. They also offer lots of open space in the building for gathering with friends to discuss what you've seen. It's completely worth an afternoon in the city!

I have two Hondas and have used Burien Japanese Auto Service several times. While I sometimes am a fan of doing service work at dealerships (for genuine parts, etc.), this is a great place for tune-ups and oil changes. In fact, they do a cheaper oil change for my CRV, and they know they have to blow the excess oil out of the oil pan, or it will drip on my driveway. That's the very nice thing about their specialty in Japanese cars. Their pricing is average but sometimes cheaper than the dealer for things like belts, spark plugs, and air filters.

This Peets is just a couple of blocks off Ravena and Greenlake, but is a better place to meet than Starbucks! They have big window doors that open during the nice hours, so you can sit inside but get the fresh air. There is usually ample parking and you can walk right across the street to a bench by the lake.

Eveyone always told me Rudy's was a find - cheap haircuts, with hip stylists. That was not what I found. I got the single worst haircut in my life there...from a guy who, while cutting my hair (horribly), told me that my cut was so easy that noone could mess it up. He proceeded to do just that, all the while not listening to what I wanted and completely doing his own thing, despite my repeated requests.
Don't bother with Rudy's unless you are in the military!

South of Seattle there is a great, inexpensive place to get a decent pedicure: Burien Nail & Spa. At $23 for a pedi and an additional $7 for a manicure at the same time, their prices are great. Service is good – you can call and reserve a chair but don’t be surprised if you have to wait for a few minutes. They have a good color selection, and if you’re a regular you can buy tools to be used on you and you only, and store them in a box at the salon. Also offer tanning and massage, though I haven’t tried it. All and all, it’s a good find!
