Best prices / great quality 11/13/2008

I went to century 21 for the 1st time here last month. I am extremely picky about the clothes that I wear, but this place is amazing. There is so much to look at and so many different designers, that is extremely difficult to stop buying. Well work just a trip to see it, let me know if you walk out with nothing, I tried, didn't happen. Winter is coming and I will be there again in January!! more

MEN CAN'T TRY ON ANYTHING BUT SUITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/8/2008

When I visited Century 21 Department Store in New York near the WTC site, I (a man) wanted to try on 2 pairs of pants. I was informed by the 'guardian' of the men's fitting rooms that I could not try these on, or anything except for suits! I promptly complained to the department manager, but got nowhere. I strongly urge you to STAY AWAY FROM Century 21 Department Store in New York until this ridiculous policy is changed! Or, if you do go, complain and say that you refuse to buy any men's clothing. This is an extremely insensitive, offensive and customer-unfriendly policy. more

Very bad customer service 9/8/2008

I bought some perfume and an umbrella. Well packed Totes umbrella was broken. Went back to the store to return and was sent to customer service on the third floor. After waiting on the line for 20 minutes, the clerk refused to take the item back and wanted me to go back to the 1st floor. Then another clerk there asked to me to reach out the correction desk on the third floor itself. Cons: Bad customer service more

After waiting on the line for 20 minutes, the clerk refused to take the item back and wanted me to go back to the 1st floor. Then another clerk there asked to me to reach out the correction desk on the third floor itself. Once there they asked me to go to the first floor again. After 45 minutes and up and down I finally met the manager on the third floor who was supposed to inspect the broken umbrella and give me a signed form. To my horror he was rude and said that the Totes umbrella cannot be returned to stores and had to be sent to the factory. (Spend another 3 to 8 dollars for shipping) a new umbrella I bought the previous day, broken in the package)!!!! . Ridicules. After some arguments, I decided that this will be my last visit to the Century 21 store, and threw the umbrella at their desk and went home. Lost 13 dollars and 45 minutes of my time. Very bad customer service. Cons: Bad customer service more

The worst service in the entire world . . . 6/29/2008

So, after being there for for 3 hours my mom and I got separated from my sister (an adult.) After an hour we asked someone to page her name over the intercom so we could find her. The staff said they couldn't because she wasn't an adult. 5 hours later, we still couldn't find her. No one would help us. I spoke to security and everything. It turns out my sister accidentally damaged something trying it on, and they called the cops. They booked her - EVERYTHING. This after she spent over a thousand dollars at the store. I spent a thousand and so did my mom. Needless to say, everything is going back. The cops tell me they hate this store, and that employees are paid 50 bucks for every person they can get arrested. Most of the charges end up getting dropped because there is no basis for the arrests (so a waste of NY tax payers' money.) What's worse is that the staff lied to us. Instead of telling us where my sister was, they lied in the end, and said "she came looking for you, got tired, and went back to the hotel." The staff definitely seem like they hate their jobs. The point is . . . great deals. Awful service (except for a few nice people who worked there, who told us they hate their jobs.) And . . . the people are clearly underpaid, and an extra 50 bucks for getting someone in trouble comes in handy. Needless to say, these are some tourists who are never coming back - and we're gonna spread the word back home in Canada too. Pros: cheap designer labels Cons: awful service, bad store layout that makes u walk forever, and incompetent management more

Cannot stay out of store 6/24/2008

I shop at Century 21more than I should. I just always find great items for the home and savings on clothes and shoes for the family. Reading some of the reviews, I noticed that some shoppers appearred to have had bad experiences while shopping there. I go into Century's everyday, even if it's to look around and see what's new. Besides the excessive amount of people in the stores (that's why I prefer to go early in the morning) I have not any complaints. In fact, I would like to complement a manager by the name of Juliette Lowe. She is the manager in the mens shoes department but is always and willing to assist me with children shoes. This morning for example, I was trying to locate a missing shoe for my daughter. I asked Ms. Lowe could she assist me and she was able to find the missing shoe. I was extremely happy because not only found the missing shoe, it was on sale. She has also assisted me with purchasing shoes for my daughter in the past and/or would let me know when to come back in for more selections for new shipments would arrive. Thank you Ms. Lowe for all your assistance. I will continue to shop at Century 21. Pros: Great clothes and savings Cons: Store is extremely crowed at lunch and on weekends more

Having some respect! 4/7/2008

I paid a visit to the long Island Century 21 Dept store. What a horror show! I went to buy a shirt a pair of pants for my daughter and son on saturday. I felt like I was being followed all over the store. The person that was following me was security. I used to work in the NYC store so I know the procedure of what security need to be looking for in the store. Long story short! I asked the guy can I help you! He indicated to me that I looked like I was up to know good with my 2 infants kids with me. I told him to shove it up his and asked for his mananger. The manger also came over to me like she did not want to be bothered because it is time for her shift to end. So I placed all my items at the register even the things I wasn't going to buy and told them I will be right back I left my wallet in my car and I left. I will not shop there for anything again since this matter. I think Century 21 NEEDS to send there employees to HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR THE CUSTOMERS CLASS. Be yourself: If you're an expert on burgers, let us know. If this is your first-time massage, say so I DID NOT KNOW THEY ARE GIVING MASSAGE! more

Worst Cutomer Service Ever! 3/13/2008

While Century 21 has great selection, the employees who work there are the rudest I have ever encountered in a retail experience. Recently, I bought a shirt at their Brooklyn store. On the day that I went to wear it, took the tags off, put the shirt on for 5 minutes and then realized that it had a hole in it. When I went to the store to return the shirt- they accused me of lying and told me that the shirt had been worn. I said yes, it has been worn- for 5 minutes! Needless to say, they refused to allow me to exchange the shirt. It only cost me $15 dollars- but the insult to my integrity cost me a lot more. I do not enjoy shopping in a store where I am accused of lying. Furthermore, I do not recommend shopping in a store that is willing to accuse a customer of lying instead of taking responsibility for their faulty merchandise. Pros: good prices Cons: rude employees, too crowded, terrible customer service more

DO NOT EXPECT ANY OF THE STAFF, SUPERVISORS OR MANAGERS TO HAVE ANY REGARD FOR YOU, THE CUSTOMER. 2/16/2008

My wife wanted to return an item and was accused of being there the day before to return the same item and was refused?!? Another member of staff then stepped in and said she also remembers her from yesterday. My wife explained she was at work all day and they continued to falsely accuse. Needless to say this was a pretty upsetting and confrontational experience. I discourage anyone to shop there out of principal for how the staff treat customers (having also experience this type of attitude myself). If I can't deter you from shopping there then I would advise to be extremely careful with what you buy. For the most part, the clothing is imperfect and that's why it's cheaper... for example, you wash it and the garment with discolor, the sleeves on the sweater are freakishly long or body too short. Many of the ties have 'pulls' in the material, or the pattern is not symmetrical etc. Pros: Very Occasional Decent Bargain Cons: Crowds, Too much rubbish to sift through, The staff are the worst. more

CENTURY 21 DEPARTMENT STORE 12/17/2007

I purchased a purse on December 15 2207 and wanted to return it on Dec 17 2007 ( 2 days latter), not only that they had a security guy with the manager when they had the nerv to tell me that the bag was not theirs so they cannot accept the return! Finally I requested the tape at the cash register on the day of the purchase in order to get my money bag! They sell garbage and after they do not stand to thier policies. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. THEY DO NOT KNOW THE MERCHANDISE, AND ADVERTISE POLICIES THAT THEY DO NOT STAND BY! IS NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE! YOU CAN BUY THE SAME MERCHANDISE FROM DEPARTMENT STORES ON BETTER SALE! more

not as great as it used to be 10/31/2007

I used to shop here a lot more, in recent years it has been going downhill a bit. The store is incredibly messy on the upper floors. Century 21 keeps renovating and expanding bust somehow it never seems to make a real difference. Lingerie is usually on the floor and being trampeled on, the upper designer floor has many items thal look worn or torn. Overall you can find great stuff if you have the patience, accessories and leather goods are usually a better bet. Clothing is usually not available in a range of sizes. For a better selection go to Woodbury Commons where all high end designers have stores that are neat and organized with helpful sales people that are also knowledgable. Pros: great deals if you have patience Cons: super messy and bad staff more
