not as great as it used to be 10/31/2007

I used to shop here a lot more, in recent years it has been going downhill a bit. The store is incredibly messy on the upper floors. Century 21 keeps renovating and expanding bust somehow it never seems to make a real difference. Lingerie is usually on the floor and being trampeled on, the upper designer floor has many items thal look worn or torn. Overall you can find great stuff if you have the patience, accessories and leather goods are usually a better bet. Clothing is usually not available in a range of sizes. For a better selection go to Woodbury Commons where all high end designers have stores that are neat and organized with helpful sales people that are also knowledgable. Pros: great deals if you have patience Cons: super messy and bad staff more

Certain departments are betther than others. 12/11/2006

The best departments in Century 21 are; handbags, shoes, and the mens department. While they say they have designer fragrances, I find you can get the same fragrances at Duane Reade or JC Pennys. The cosmetic department is average, nothing special at all. Its not a Saks or Bloomingdales. The NYC store is very disorganized and the aisles are narrow and cramped. The sales people are rude, inexperienced, and uncaring. They act like they really don't want to work there. I find the women's clothing is primarily for the under 30 crowd. On the plus side, they have one of the best selection of handbags I've ever seen. They have high end bags such as Tods and inexpensive bags as well. The mens department is awesome. It is the best place to purchase socks!! The shoe department is also excellent. They have all styles and price ranges. I find the Morristown, NJ store much more organized and less crowded. If you can get there, I recommend shopping there instead of the NYC store. Pros: Deep discounts, no pushy salespeople Cons: No parking, rude salespeople, long lines more

Best Shopping in New York! 11/11/2006

If you are woilling to put up with the crowds, you can get some great bargains here. The handbags and shoes selections are huge, if a bit disorganized, and the home section in the basement has some of the best specials in the store. Pros: selection Cons: service more

Great Finds...If You're Willing To Work For It 10/26/2006

I love Century 21, but I wish someone had told me it was a total mad house all the time and the employees are RUDE before I went there; it was a shock to my system. Within the past year, I have had three incidents with an employee (one with curse words and all.) The question one needs to ask is: ""Whether the aggrivation and poor customer service is worth the savings?"" If you answer ""yes,"" then Century 21 is the place for you. Pros: deep discounts Cons: very rude employees, crowded and busy all the time more

It's fantastic--Just avoid it on the weekends! 10/25/2006

The jewelry collection is great with tons of Swarovski 30 bucks and below. They have an excellent bag selection and there isn't a man on Earth who couldn't find a great pair of jeans there. Go on the 3rd Floor for amazing designer finds and check out the Lingerie section for great deals (and awesome workout clothes). Find everything you want to try on at once because the line for the dressing room is always long (10-15 min waits) and it's often pure chaos back there. Always check your clothes for rips and stains (massive foot traffic often leaves clothing damaged) and be prepared not to find everything you are looking for (Example, their Origins counter is limited). Their housing department will stun you. Amazing. Pros: Value, selection Cons: The atmosphere is total chaos. more

Great selection but horrible customer service makes for a bad shopping experience 8/16/2006

This is a fun store to shop in until you get to the checkout, which is among the most painful checkout experiences I've ever had. The cashiers move as slowly as possible, and you're lucky if you don't end up behind a customer who's either buying 100 items or is trying to use a credit card that won't go through. Don't expect to be helped at the next register if this happens to you because they don't have enough cashiers working at any given time to efficiently check out their customers. You are stuck behind this person or left to try your luck at another very slow-moving line. The last time I went there was so bad that, after waiting a very long time behind a person in line who was fighting with her debit card and ending up in line behind someone else who was buying at least 30 pieces of clothes, I hung up all my stuff on the nearest hook and left the store. Century 21 would be excellent if rated for its selection alone, as the products it carries and the prices it sells them for are great. But the store is almost always very crowded and hard to move through, and the employees don't seem to care about anything. I can't blame them if they hate their jobs because the place is a zoo. However, they need to come up with a better plan for handling all the people they draw in. Pros: good selection and great values Cons: it's a ****ing madhouse more

Cheapsakes heaven 8/9/2006

Big brands and discounts--Kate Spade merch was actually sitting in a bin, marked off 75%. I bought a LeSportsac for $26 and all my NYC souvenirs here (e.g., mugs, pens, etc.) They also have a wide selection of shoes for all occasions. Go early to avoid the crowds. Pros: selection and discounts, big n high-end brands Cons: can get crowded and chaotic more

shopping is better than macy's & bloomies 7/3/2006

UPDATE: came again for family day - don't bring your young kids when it's a zoo here. But, can't complain about the crowds cuz it is a destination spot (tho paying lines are terrible!). Not only do you get most items discounted, but you get quality, don't have to wait for those 1 day sales! When I visit the city, I have to make a stop in chinatown for dim sum (Congee Village), little Italy for italian ices (Ferrara's), Raku for Japanese food, & here for my shoes & other personal (ahem) items. On my last 8 visits, I have bought 8 pairs of shoes (starting to feel like Imelda Marcos!). Toiletries, kids stuff, kitchen & home stuff, dresses/blouses, ties & shirts & underwear, & other knick knacks - I have to save up for each trip here! And when I get the postcard for their sales, it's a trip worth taking! Pros: variety, prices, quality Cons: crowded, shoppers very rude more

New York, New York 5/22/2006

Century 21 is definatley as it says, the best kept secret of New York. Once I was in there and saw an actress from All My Children buying a Marc Jacobs sweater she could probably afford at full price. Even for the everyday person though, its a great place to get those designer clothes you can't afford to buy at full price. I bought $198 Joe's jeans for only $69.99!! They have awesome handbags, cute clothes and the shoe selection is pretty good as well. And the crowdedness shouldn't matter...we live in New York and should be used to it..haha. It's definatley a place to go. Pros: low prices, designer clothes Cons: crowded more

Amazing 7/27/2005

This place is unbelievable for guys. I bought a Ted Baker shirt, Seven jeans, D&G t-shirt, and a Burberry dress shirt for about $170. I only spent about 2 hours in there but could have spent the entire day. Pros: Designer brands, Huge selection, Low prices Cons: Very crowded, Hard to find things, Poor shoe selection more

Good bargains! 7/24/2005

I came here and ended up with 5 polo shirts, 3 pairs of shoes, 7 blazers, and 2 skirts! Its way downtown, literally right across the street from the World Trade center sight. I came on a Saturday and didnt find it all that packed, despite what other reviews say. Everything was a bargain, I got alll my stuff for under $200 total! THey had a good selection, but the location was sort of out of the way. Pros: selection, prices Cons: far far downtown, hard to find stuff more
