They are very straight and honest good peeps!!! They are not above doing a simple repair when a simple fix will do. They explained the more proper way of repairing my vehicle, but the simple fix is where I needed to be for the time being. I will return for the additional work. Pros: Honest and informative. I was hours away from spending close to $900 dollars to get the compressor on my a/c replaced at the chevy dealership. I decided to get a second opinion and came to Ben White Automotive per a friend's suggestion. Their shop was nice and clean and the people I delt with were nice and HONEST. They found that there was actually nothing wrong with the compressor at all - it was a simple problem of a broken belt. I walked out of there spending just over $100. They didn't suggest unnecessary repairs and I felt that what they suggested I could actually believe with no worries. Maybe I was an idiot for even setting foot in the Chevy Service department in the first place - but I was misguided in thinking that a big name service department would be honest and reliable. more

I've taken my car here multiple times. If there's something wrong with it, they fix it quickly, and at a good price. If my car is just getting old and noisy, then they tell me I don't need any work done. They've even done minor little fixes for free! You can tell by talking to the people there that they wouldn't take advantage of you, even if it's obvious you don't know anything about cars. I've brought friends here and they've all thanked me. After the shop I used to go to closed, my roommate told me about Ben White Automotive. He had taken his car there for a problem with his struts. They could have told him that new struts were needed and he never would have thought otherwise, but instead they told him all it needed was for the strut mount to be tightened, which they did without charging him. The fact that they could have charged him for unneccessary repairs and didn't was impressive. I have taken two cars to see these guys and had good experiences on both occasions. I was brand new in town.....my 2nd day to be exact.....i knew no one.....my car came off the moving truck.....and after the battery was hooked up......i discovered that the car was not running properly.....having been charged an arm and a leg by a nationwide service chain......to repair what i later found out was simple fix....i was thankfully referred to Ben White by a neighbor.......they reset my computer for free...and needless to say i have been going to them ever since.... I took my car in recently with a laundry list of problems that needed fixing to get it back in reliable shape. After inspection the quote was considerably more than I wanted to spend on the vehicle, but each item on the quote was explained fully, and I never felt like I was being pressured into unnecessary repairs. I was provided with options to decrease the cost, by eliminated the recommended, but not strictly required (like new struts) but I ultimately decided to buy a new car instead. I can't speak about the repair service, but the customer service was top-rate. I plan to look here first for my future repair needs. Pros: Great service, thorough inspection, multiple repair options. I have been using Ben White Automotive for over 10 years. They have always been up front and clear with me about the repairs with about which repairs are needed and which ones are recommended but not necessary. They have never tried to add on a service that was not necessary. Even though we live out by Lake Travis, we go the distance into Austin to have our vehicles repaired by them. I am new to Austin and I was looking for a good reliable auto repair shop because my Nissan Maxima needed new CV Axles. A co-worker recommended Ben White Auto Repair shop. I got on the Internet to get directions to Ben White auto and also read most of the reviews. I was surprised to see so many ? HIGHLY RECOMMENDED? rating by satiesfied customer. So I toke my car to Ben White auto and after inspecting my car, Oscar, informed me that I had an oil leak. I knew of the oil leak and thought about fixing it later. I was giving an exact quote for the job and it was done properly. For as long as I?m in Austin, I will take my car to Ben White Auto when it needs to be repaired. Pros: Customer service. I work near by and they gave me a ride to work. Cons: The repair were not finished on time so the rented me a car for that day. more

My engine recently locked up on me, and I had it brought into Ben White Automotive to get looked at. They did what they could to get it freed up, but it was, unfortunately, a lost cause. The upshot is, they didn't charge me anything for the work they put into it, and let me keep my car on the lot for a few days until I could find out where I needed it towed. I was treated with courtesy every time I called, and will definitely be recommending them. more

I went to Ben White Auto to get a second opinion on whether my car was leaking power steering fluid, which requires a very expensive repair. Though busy, they squeezed me in early, and actually took me to my car to show me the details. They found no current evidence of a leak, and while they said a repair may be necessary eventually, they never pressured me into having any work done. My only constructive criticism would be that the waiting room needs sprucing up, so if you plan on spending time, bring a book. Otherwise, I highly recommend this place for repair work. It's because these guys are so great! I tried them out based on the reviews here and am so glad I did. I just recently had some work completed, Oscar went through every detail of the repairs, what definitely needed to be done, what could wait, etc. He was honest from the start and I felt confident in making the final decisions about what repairs were needed. Car repairs can be expensive, but somehow Oscar manages to ease my pain with a good laugh or just plain sincerity. The employees are super nice. They make me feel like part of the family, the cost is very reasonable and I can honestly say they go the extra mile to satisfy the customer. Who does that anymore? One small example; I had my new Tags and Plates laying on the back seat of my car when I took it in. The guys put them all on for me just because they could. I know it is an easy task that I could have done and they surely didn't have to do it, but that is just the kind of guys they are. As a female, I am always concerned about getting ripped off - that was before I used BWA. I know Ben White Automotive has resolved all of my issues regarding my car service and repairs. They even do warranty work! I have always had a good customer experience there and a great running car afterwards, which is hard to find these days.
