over charges 12/3/2010

We had the service of over 3 years, my wife called 2 days before the contract was to re-new to cancel the service and was not told the truth. They have sent a letter wanting over $350.00 or they will send the bill to a collecton company. They are a good service until you don't need the service any longer. We meet all of the terms of the contract, I will not do business with them again more

Have to get the CEO involved 10/26/2010

After contacting the CEO I got the desired results. It is unfortunate that I had to go to that extreme to get the service that I am paying for. However, once I got the CEO involved, I received excellent service and the tech that came to my home was the best ever. Advise: If you need help go higher!! more

New Customer 8/10/2010

I signed up in hopes of securing my home since for my family since 22June and the tech installed on the 30June10. To this present day no RF signal has been recieved since the tech installed us. Don't sign the contract 6/4/2010

I signed a 3 year contract, which included making my system compatable. They then billed me $190 to make my system compatable and I'm locked into a 3 year contract. Don't sign the contract, I don't care how inexpensive it is. more

Poor service 5/28/2010

Had Tech come out to replace battery in one of units. Still reads the same. Called and it took them 2 days to locate my account, they called my home number and not work number I left, Called rep I had been dealing with and another rep said they could handle it. They just connected me to a voice mail-which after 5 weeks was never returned. The next day I talked to a rep that hung up on me.I called back and talked to supervisor that told me it takes 30 days to disput a charge. They must have a lot of disputes if it takes 30 days!! Stay away. awful service. more

ACKERMAN RIP-OFF CONTINUES EVEN AFTER DISCONNECT 3/29/2010

Good: No, NOT good. Apparently, this forum doesn't provide for Less Than Stellar or Poor Ratings. I do appreciate the fact that the alarm sound is loud because, in the event of a break-in, it might've discouraged burglars, etc.. Bad: The alarm was faulty from the beginning. Of all the times that the alarm sounded, it was never the result of an intrusion. A faulty zone would 'trip' after the alarm was set. Due to this continuing malfunction (yes, we had service calls to try to fix,) we rarely ever set our alarm.. Improvements: When it is the result of faulty equipment, the alarm company (and not the residents) should be fined by the police for multiple calls. If one is under contract, then the company should stand behind its equipment - which Ackerman doesn't do without costly service calls. If they can determine user-error, okay, charge me - but otherwise, it should be at their expense.. Other: Speaking of contracts, the original owner of the house signed a contract in the year 2000. Apparently, this contract is self-renewing without notice. In my case, the owner is long gone and AS never took it out of her name. I am a renter. Consequently, when I called to terminate service, they told me that there were 7 months and 2 days left in the contract (that someone else who is now absent signed.) As a result, I have had 10 years of faulty (or no) service, and they want to penalize me. Con artists. more

I had the pleasure of changing my security company from Interlink to Ackerman recently. Not only was William Parr on time to my home, he was early. He answered all of my questions, explained the contract thoroughly, and explained the wireless radio and billing in great detail. I switched to Ackerman Security 10 months ago and i am extremely pleased and grateful for the quick response time when my alarm goes off. the reponse time has ranged from 10 seconds to 30 seconds. The company I switched from sometimes never called so I am so happy I switched over to Ackerman. And I'm now paying less and saving money... more

Ackerman to the rescue 3/1/2010

had ADT. Ackerman guy was there to switch and save money. he was thorough and tested the system including the fire auto button. the next night ADT called us to tell us the alarm was going off - the fire alarm. i told them thanks for "letting" my house burn for 24 hours before calling me. I switched to Ackerman. Glad I did. Roscoe more

Very Professional Company 3/1/2010

I started looking for a new security provider in February. I made several calls to three companies. ADT, Broadview and Ackerman. ADT wanted to do the contract over the phone. I couldn't even get someone to come to my house. I spoke with Broadview and they weren't able to send anyone out for almost a week. So I finally called Ackerman on a Monday morning by Monday afternoon I had a Rep at my home,Allen Seymour, and by Wednesday morning I was online with Ackerman's local monitoring center. I was paying almost $40.00 per month with Protection One and now I am paying $18.95 for the same service. As my rep requested that I do, I tested my system within the first week of service and to my amazement, I had a call from the monitoring center within 15 seconds maybe sooner. Now, that is exactly what I was looking for in my security provider. I highly recommend Ackerman to anyone looking to save money on monitoring and have a local company watching over you. Big T. more

Then Best Security in town! 2/27/2010

I switched form another company to Ackerman. The system was ok, and Ackerman could have used it to protect our home. But, I was convinced to upgrade it to a newer system. Do the math, the Ackerman system is less that the 'free' ones and 10 times more capable. All I can say is; WOW! I did not know we could incorporate a complete remote access services to our security system. I now get a text message when my kids come home from school. I can also operate some of our lights with the key pads. I can access all of the system's functions and controls from my cell phone. The other companies we looked at are operating in the dark ages. Yes, our system had its bugs. Our Rep. Jim C. was on the job and had the Techs and Field Super. on site and worked out within 4 days. We have not had a problem since, 6 months and going strong. I know if I have a problem, we can count on the people at Ackerman! Looking at the other reviews, I never found anything like these on any other site.... more

Perfect Service EVERY Time 2/27/2010

I have been with Ackerman for several years now. I know they have over 60,000 customers in the Atlanta and North Georgia area. If my alarm goes off, Ackerman is calling within seconds. In fact, they are the only security company in the industry to give a written guarantee on their response time. I have read the other reviews here and have to ask why these reviews can only be found here? Kudzu.com has an entirely different story for this Company. Ackerman installed my system at a fraction of the cost of the 'free' systems and their systems are of a much higher quality. I also own my system and it is not proprietary equipment. Their warranty is as much as 3 times longer than anyone else offers. I would like to point out though, I was cautioned by my Sales Rep. and Tech., if we are to switch phone service from the land line, we should expect problems. The other phones can not carry an alarm signal and that may not alert Ackerman if our alarm was going off. The folks at Ackerman are very specific, test your system monthly, if you change your phone provider, go to the wireless monitoring. I even signed a form saying we were aware of this. We shut off our phone service altogether and have wireless monitoring. It is very reliable, never missed a call, the only reliable way to go. This Company uses state of the art equipment and monitoring facility. They have the only 5 diamond certified central station in North Georgia. I am sure they have multiple layers of call redundancy. I found out they even have a back up central station in Michigan. With this level or redundancy, how could they miss a call? I am completely satisfied with Ackerman and have my entire family, in Georgia, protected by them. We will not be changing providers. more

Good monthly rates 1/22/2010

I have had my Ackerman security system for about a month. Jason Wright was our salesperson and when I had questions recently he made sure I got some technical help so I could better understand how the system works. Dan, our technichian, was very professional and has answered my follow up questions promptly. We've been pleased with the service we've received. My husband was looking for low monthly rates and Ackerman had the best deal we could find. more
