Rundown 4/25/2011

I've been a member of 24 Hour Fitness since 2000 and I'm truly disgusted with the condition of the downtown club ?360.? While I have seen some improvements to the facility over the past several months with the addition of the new fans, tile floor in the locker room, AC upgrades and new TV's there are many other areas that appear to be being overlooked. To start with the elevators are atrocious. Not only are they extremely slow but in desperate need of physical repair. These I'm sure are owned and maintained by the parking garage but as a business a top the parking deck 24HF should ensure the landlord maintains these in proper condition. Recently for about a month there was only one elevator in operation so you ended up waiting up to 10 minutes to get into the club. A couple of weeks ago the elevator doors would barely close on the one them and then tonight I watch someone trip getting off because the elevator did not come fully up to the floor. In the men?s locker room there are always broken locker doors, lockers with locks that are never removed, and the floors are always filthy. The appearance of the wet area shows that this area is not maintained at all. The sauna needs repair to the wood, the steam room has lights out and the some are open to the insulation above. Additionally this area looks like it is never cleaned. I refuse to use the whirlpool ever again because the two times that I did I got a rash on my legs. The tile floor is extremely slick when wet and they do not have mats covering all areas where members walk. It's a law suit waiting to happen. The men?s shower area is the worst I?ve seen of any gym I?ve ever been in. First the club has taken shower curtains and cut them to a size where they only cover half of the stall opening. This is useless and there might as well be no curtains. Obviously this is so the club can spend less money by purchasing fewer than actually needed. The soap dispensers are either always empty or missing altogether. Most of the showerheads are broken and need to be replaced. One shower stall has been out of order for at least two months missing the water control handle (literally there is a hole in the wall where it once was.) The handicapped shower stall does not have the required ADA equipment. Tonight five of the eight showers where out of service due to broken showerheads, a clogged drain and the one without a water control handle. The cleanliness of showers is completely lacking. It looks like they have not been cleaned in years. There is missing grout and caulking and mold is running rampant. If it wasn?t for the recent improvements I would think the club was getting ready to close as these were issues that happened when the club was located in uptown on McKinney where Gold?s is currently. I have made a complaint to the club manager via email and on 24 Hour Fitness? website but there has been no response. I would not recommend anyone join 24 Hour Fitness for any price they offer. more
