Flat top Johnny's is one of a few places in Boston that require identification on entry - 'carding' seems to be a problem in the student areas that travellers to the Boston area need to be aware of - whilst not a problem in itself, they do not accept European driving licenses, only passports. This is not properly advertised, and the inability of staff to adequately inform (and handle disgruntled patrons) does not help an evening's pool play off to a good start. Once in, the atmosphere isn't bad, friendly (apart from the aforementioned bar staff) and an average selection of beers and beverages. Very crowded on Friday late-afternoons.
