Atlanta Underground 1/11/2007

Atlanta Underground is a great place to go. During the day, the place is a mall. It has all kinds of shops, and I love going there. It is a very cool and neat place to go. They have all types of stores and that's why I go there. At night, this whole area becomes one party place. It's all bars and clubs then, and on Sundays, you can even get an alcoholic drink at 4am! But beware, at night, there is also a lot of cons going on, solicitors (for a good word), and thieves. But that comes with a place like this. I recommend Atlanta Underground. more

Historic Site and Shopping by Day, Party Site by Night 4/17/2006

I think everyone who lives in or visits Atlanta should see Underground Atlanta at least once, but I don't think it lives up to its potential. The historic architecture is wonderful but not really emphasized. To me, the shops and vendors are not much more exciting than any at the mall. Due to some loophole, the bars are allowed to serve alcohol until 4 a.m., much later than most places in the city. While it's neat to walk under Atlanta, I think this could be so much more. more

No reason to go 4/10/2006

Everyone talks about the Underground, but seriously there is no reason to go here. I steer people away from going to the Underground when they are in town just because I think that it is a waste of time. It is full with a bunch of really junky shops, the food is terrible and there is not anything else to do. Sure there are sometimes some street artists but really there is no reason to go to the Underground Atlanta. more

Not For Me 3/18/2006

Underground Atlanta is home to the Georgia Peach drop on New Year's Eve and shops, restaurants, and clubs the rest of the year. Despite being underground, there is nothing spectacular about this place. In fact, I find its underground location as dark and dingy. If you desire downtown shopping, dining, or entertainment, try Atlantic Station which is not too far down the road. If you want a tourist destination, then Underground may be for you. more

Atlanta Underground is a mall I go to. I like it. more

Boring 11/16/2005

Underground Atlanta was one of the first places we visited after moving here over four years ago. It is advertised as this really neat place. I actually had no idea what to expect but shopping was the last thing I anticipated. I admit the concept is neat but it is no more exciting than walking around a shopping mall. I was a little creeped out because it was so dark . We have had family visit and ask us about Underground Atlanta and we quickly tell them not to waste their time. more

good shopping center 10/17/2005

Underground Atlanta has a plethora of shopping establishments just waiting for an eager consumer to come and indulge. How many is a plethora? How about over 130 shops, boutiques, and stores! Located at Five Points, the site of the railway station that gave the city its less romantic name of Terminus. Gone with the Wind buffs will recognize it from where the trains disgorge hundreds of wounded soldiers as Scarlett O'Hara comes seeking a doctor to birth Melanie Wilkes baby. The World of Coca-Cola is located adjacent to Underground Atlanta. The three story museum of Coke and Coke related products at the World of Coca-cola houses videos, and 100's of exhibits. There are souvenirs and free samples of Coke and other soft drinks the CocaCola Bottling Plant makes for other countries around the world. (Some of these rather "interesting" concoctions aren't pleasant) Its one of the very few places where people are paying money to be bombarded with advertisements. There is plenty to do and see here at Underground. It is also the site of the annual "Peach Drop" at New Years Eve. It is Atlanta's largest one time gathering with crowds estimated as large as 350,000 people. The Peach drops from its perch atop Underground's 138-foot light tower. But basically its the shops, eateries, and sidewalk interests that keeps shoppers everywhere coming back for more. Basically, in a nutshell, Underground is located on 12 acres of land, and is a $142 million nightclub and shopping center. There are over a dozen nightclubs here, so after a busy day of shopping and the stores close, you can party at a variety of establishments. The Best Part? Admission is free, and Atlanta's bus system MARTA goes directly to Underground at the 5 Points Station. Pros: lots of things to see and do Cons: crowded, busy, prone to trouble during holidays more

Underground Atlanta 8/21/2005

I really liked Underground Atlanta. The first time I went there, I was so surprised. Too bad all the shops were closed when I went. I can’t speak for the shops but the place is very nice, especially the downtown rocks concert by 99x. People should definitely check it out. more

Underground 8/17/2005

Underground Atlanta is about ten city blocks that have been converted into an underground mall with shops, dining, entertainment, and clubs. It is very unique and the stores there are not your run-of-the-mill stuff either, they are very rare and some interesting things can be found there. It's also great on a hot day, when you can be underground in the cool instead of walking around the streets baking windown shopping at other places. more

THIS is supposed to be something impressive 8/10/2005

I have to say I am constantly amazed when friends tell me they take visitors to Underground. WHAT? I mean, the location is nice being that it's near the Capitol but Underground itself is very boring if you ask me. Yes there are stores and restaurants but only a few decent ones which can be found in other and better places. Dantes is good for Fondue and environment but go to the one on Piedmont. They have a Gap and Body Shop but they have those at Lenox plus a hundred other stores and better people watching if you ask me. Avoid this place. more

a glut of shops, bars, etc. 8/5/2005

Its a mall during the day, becomes bars/clubs at night. Only place in atlanta to serve alcohol until 4am on sunday morning. Security has improved, but its still downtown atlanta, so i would be aware of thieves as well as beggars. everything's a short walk away, so its not too bad during the day, but i wouldn't viist at night more

The Underground Mall 7/27/2005

In downtown Atlanta there is an underground mall that is very intering to visit. With lots of stores and food places to try. They have a really great old timey candy shop that I always have to stop into. My favorite are the caramel apples made with green crunchy granny smith apples. Always some sort of entertainment going on too. more
