Underground Atlanta has a plethora of shopping establishments just waiting for an eager consumer to come and indulge. How many is a plethora? How about over 130 shops, boutiques, and stores!
Located at Five Points, the site of the railway station that gave the city its less romantic name of Terminus. Gone with the Wind buffs will recognize it from where the trains disgorge hundreds of wounded soldiers as Scarlett O'Hara comes seeking a doctor to birth Melanie Wilkes baby.
The World of Coca-Cola is located adjacent to Underground Atlanta. The three story museum of Coke and Coke related products at the World of Coca-cola houses videos, and 100's of exhibits. There are souvenirs and free samples of Coke and other soft drinks the CocaCola Bottling Plant makes for other countries around the world. (Some of these rather "interesting" concoctions aren't pleasant) Its one of the very few places where people are paying money to be bombarded with advertisements.
There is plenty to do and see here at Underground. It is also the site of the annual "Peach Drop" at New Years Eve. It is Atlanta's largest one time gathering with crowds estimated as large as 350,000 people. The Peach drops from its perch atop Underground's 138-foot light tower. But basically its the shops, eateries, and sidewalk interests that keeps shoppers everywhere coming back for more.
Basically, in a nutshell, Underground is located on 12 acres of land, and is a $142 million nightclub and shopping center. There are over a dozen nightclubs here, so after a busy day of shopping and the stores close, you can party at a variety of establishments. The Best Part? Admission is free, and Atlanta's bus system MARTA goes directly to Underground at the 5 Points Station.
Pros: lots of things to see and do
