This is a good place to go if you are already doing something else in downtown. Not really worth a trip just to visit the park. On a hot day the kids can get wet with the fountains, in the evenings you can sit and watch the musical fountains and have a picnic. There is plenty of green space and it is always kept up pretty nice. Not too many trees for shade so I wouldn't go when it is real hot. In Winter there is a nice but pretty small, ice skating rink which is a bit different. Fun outdoors activity for the kids and I don't think it costs too much.

I took my niece for a fun day at a museum that was specially made for her and was truly disappointed. The entrance fee was too high and the place was fairly empty. I logged on to their website before going to see the daily activities and was disappointed that only 1 of the things listed on their website was actually going on at the museum. We were there for less than an hour, nothing too impressive to see.

More
I make it a point to visit the MLK Memorial every time I'm in Atlanta. It's a national historic site and it's really amazing, yet humbling and inspirational at the same time. Entrance is free (but please make a donation) and the exhibits change from time to time. All are educational, moving, and do a really good job of conveying not only the man behind the legend but a sense of the gross injustices that segregation was. As much as you may know about the time period and Martin Luther King, Jr., you will walk away from the memorial with more knowledge.
A bookstore/gift shop is on site selling memorabilia to commemorate the man and the museum. He is entombed near a large reflecting pool on-site. The home in which he was born is a short walk from the visitors' center, as is Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he and his father preached. Both are certainly worth checking out.
It is impossible to leave the memorial without feeling moved and wondering what he may have accomplished had he been given a few more days, months, or years.

this museum probably has the best stock and variety in all of atlanta. i had a hard time finding it, since it doesn't sit on a major avenue, but it is well worth the drive. If i was going to visit any one art gallery in atlanta, this would definitely be the one. The gallery usually has new monthly exhibits, and those are the best infusion of artistic inspiration in the city.

i actually went on a semi-busy night - family night against the orlando magic. THe seats are comfy, the bathrooms are relatively clean. Unfortunately the hawks suck and the ushers are rude and not helpful. As soon as the hawks get decent, the i will visit here again...until then, i'll just watch it on TV

This small museum actually packs a big punch. I've seen some great traveling exhibits, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood comes to mind. They also have information about Atlanta that you never knew. The Swan Coach house, out on the grounds is worth a visit as is the farm and various other buildings. Oddly, one of the only "southern" feeling things left around here.

This is a small museum that is inside Turner Field. It gives a brief glimpse into the lives of some of the famous Braves players. It should be free, but they charge a small admission fee to view the small train car that was used during the early years of the Braves. There is also the World Champion trophy on display.

The VSA Arts of Georgia offers a fantastic and unique gallery for the people of Atlanta to enjoy. Most of the work featured is by artists who have disabilities. Some of the work focuses on how the artists deal with their disability while other work is of more 'normal' subject matter. Some of the work is amazingly good and all of it is worth looking into. The gallery has been open for 30 years and has been doing a great job allowing artists of all different viewpoints to share their work.
