The School Box has lots of educational items including furniture, workbooks, school supplies, and teacher gifts. It is a specialty store but does carry some items you can purchase elsewhere which I would recommend because the prices here are on the high side.
There are many great resources for parents who home school their children. There are also great developmental toys such as manipulatives (beading, lacing, blocks, etc) and teaching puppets.
If you're looking for something educational that you can't find anywhere else, look here.

My daughter and I both get our hair cut here. I don't like to pay a lot of money to get my hair cut but I want someone who will do a good job. That's exactly what I get here. I pay $17 for a shampoo, cut, and style and $10 for my daughter's haircuts.
They do take walk-ins but I always make an appointment so I can see the stylist I prefer without having to wait.

My son attends the Mothers Morning Out program here and I am very pleased with the program.
The infant room accepts very young children (maybe 6 months?). I had a problem finding a program for my son because his birthday is in September and most programs require they be 1 year by September 1st which he was not. Also their teacher to child ratios are low.
The directors and teachers are very friendly and truly care about the children. I am very confident in my decision to place my son here.

Underground Atlanta was one of the first places we visited after moving here over four years ago. It is advertised as this really neat place. I actually had no idea what to expect but shopping was the last thing I anticipated.
I admit the concept is neat but it is no more exciting than walking around a shopping mall. I was a little creeped out because it was so dark . We have had family visit and ask us about Underground Atlanta and we quickly tell them not to waste their time.

I have seen Dr. Wong for about 3 years now. He is very professional yet personable.
I have a vision plan through my health insurance but I still pay less at WalMart than I would at an eye care center which actually accepts my insurance. (WalMart does accept some insurance just not mine).
The staff in the optical department is also very friendly and helpful. They don't carry my contact lenses in stock so they always have to be ordered. I have never had to wait more than 2-3 days for my lenses and someone from the optical department always calls me when my lenses arrive.

I have never actually purchased anything from this store but love to walk through and see all of the neat things.
There are tons of costumes and accessories throughout the year plus books, puppets, juggling and magic supplies, and theatrical makeup.
If you're lucky, you might even get to see the staff perform so really neat magic tricks.
Also in the back is an area where you can purchase dance wear like leotards and warm-up suits. I'm not sure if it's actually a part of the same store but you can walk freely between the two areas.

As soon as we stepped foot onto Yellow River Game Ranch my husband said, 'This is already better than the zoo'.
Deer and squirrels walked right up to us and ate from our hands. Many of the animals including the deer, squirrels, chickens, and geese are free to roam throughout the park. My daughter loved this because she could actually touch the animals. Other animals like the black bears, coyotes, and buffalo are safely behind large fences. You can walk into the rabbit exhibit and pet the dozens of rabbits there.
Bring your own snacks for the animals or buy some there.
Worth the drive from anywhere!

Some friends and I took our then 2 year old children to White Water and had a blast!
There is a zero depth area where the younger kids can run around and get wet without worrying about going underwater. The area is filled with various types of water sprinklers and has a few slides.
Next to this area is another which is great for kids who are just a little older. I would say the depth is 2-3 feet and there is playground type equipment in the water.
There is also a lazy river, wave pool, and several slides for older kids and adults.
Go early to get a good parking spot for your car and belongings. Don't forget to pack your lunch or you'll end up paying $7 for a pb&j sandwich.

My husband and I took our daughter to Zoo Atlanta and were not impressed.
The animals were all so far away. I know this is for safety reasons but we could barely see some of them. The zoo is also small. The panda exhibit seemed to be the same size as the rest of the zoo. We had heard so much about the children's zoo but on the day we were at the zoo the children's exhibit was closed!. There is a playground there and I actually think we all enjoyed that more than anything else there.

A few of my friends and I took our kids (ages 3 and under) to the Botanical Gardens for a day out. I had never been before and was in awe of the beautiful flowers and water fountains. My daughter really liked the more exotic flowers and wanted her picture made with all of them.
The children's garden is really enjoyable for the kids (and parents). There is a zero depth water feature which is great if you go on a warm day. There is also a dinosaur sand pit and small playground like area with a slide.
The reasons I didn't give the botanical gardens five stars include the parking situation (there is none, you have to park street side across from the park) and the cafe (it cost $17 for a chicken nugget meal, a sandwich and two drinks).
So when you visit the botanical gardens don't forget your camera, be prepared to walk a lot, and bring a sack lunch.
