The ONLY great clothing boutique in Seattle 7/9/2006

Nobody else in Seattle gets it like Tulip. They have the best mix of designers by far of any store in town-- Great small designers like Mayle, Annelore, Nicholas K, Mint, Sarah Berman, Rozae Nichols, and a constantly evolving collection of the best denim. If it is up and coming and it is gooood, you know it will be at Tulip. Sure, like the onther review said, it is not cheap. I'd say prices range from around $30-50 for a tshirt to $125-200 for jeans to $100-300 for a dress. But these are well-made, beautifully designed pieces in fine quality fabrics. If you want cheap, shut up, go to Old Navy, and look just like every one else. I have found the service to be kind and knowledgeable. They can get a bit overwhelmed on busy tourist days in the summer, as the staff is small, but I've found the help is worth the wait with good suggestions and honest feedback. They seem to know the fit and shapes of things well and can suggest what might look good on you. Great! more

Great selection of jeans for any body type 5/3/2005

Cute, hip, comfortable jeans do not have to be a challenge- even if you are 5’3”. First, take a stroll downtown to Tulip. Owner, Annie Sparrow has the best selection of jeans for any body type. More importantly, the ladies at Tulip are very honest and helpful with recommendations (they also know the BEST tailor in town for those that need hemming). No hard selling like at the big department stores. I am a firm believer that great pair of jeans are worth the money as long as they look fabulous and make you feel good. Plus, it is a local small business, which I prefer to support. Personally, I prefer styles with stretch but depending on your body type it might not be your cup of tea. Most importantly, get a pair that makes your butt look good. Low waist is not for everyone but well placed pockets are! We come in all shapes and sizes so try on every pair in your size. Secondly, jeans stretch out. So if you are looking for comfort you might want a pair of jeans a little on the small side (nothing you can not breathe in). This will prevent the saggy diaper effect down the road. My favorite brands are Blue Cult, James Jeans, and Citizen for Humanity. You will also need a good pair of underwear to go with your jeans. I swear by Cosabella. And here is the final tip for everyone- take care of your clothes. All cotton can shrink up to ¾ of an inch in length in warm water and a hot dryer. Wash your jeans before you alter them. If you LOVE your new hip jeans then wash in cold and lay flat to dry. Worst case you can dry them once and a while (inside out) so that the life of your jeans lasts longer. This might sound neurotic, but my clothes last. At 2x a week, we are talking 100+ wearing… the average price per wearing pays off over time. more

Fun to Look At but.... 9/24/2004

Tulip is listed everywhere as the "in" boutique in Seattle. But I found it disappointed and very overpriced. The clothing is innovative but the level they carry can be found many other places (try Les Amis in Fremont for example). Service was cold which chills up a small store pretty quickly. Recommend to skip through the Tulip on to other much better locations in Seattle and beyond. more
