Trader Joe's

Trader Joes has really tasty food really cheap. It's also all nice and organic and hippiesh and such but I don't care much about that. Anyway, it's antoher place dangerous to wander through because you may come out with far more food than you expected! A recent example of their cheap yumminess: a delicious cheese pizza good for two meals for me and my girlfriend for four dollars. more

...wandering through these aisles may spoil you for regular grocery shopping! A fine selection of pre-packaged food, sushi, frozen deserts, cheeses, and breads makes this a grocery mecca. Cheaper, my opinion at least, than Whole Foods and for West Philly residents much easier to reach: they're just a stone throw from a Green Line stop. I'll knock off one star for ingredients: Nut allergy, beware! Walnut flour is used in some unlikely foods such as pasta, while nut warnings have been seen in their packaged soups. more

Everything that has been said about this store is true. Great food fairly cheap. My issue with this store in particular is that even though it is in the center of a very walkable city, they still put the entrance facing the parking lot at the back of the building. The store could have had an entrance on market street that would have been much more pedestrian friendly. I don’t know why they make us walk through that shady alley and by the dumpsters to get into the store. more

Cant go wrong with this national chain of healthy food! Trader Joes has great produce and private label products that are healthy and delicious. I am a big fan of the store, although I dont understand why they dont have an door on Market St (need to go around the building to enter). The place gets packed around evening rush hour. Make sure to try the samples in the back of the store. Their frozen foods are quite good! more

Trader Joe's recently opened at 22nd and Market selling tasty and fairly inexpensive groceries ranging from fresh meats to produce to prepared goods to dairy. Their strengths are in their frozen prepared entrees, wide selection of healthy cereals, good bread and fresh bags of salad, and tasty sauces and mixes. Their weakness are the produce (not particularly cheap or good), fresh or frozen meats that are not prepared in some fashion, and pitiful and fairly inexpensive of other non-food items you might buy at a supermarket like toilet paper or toothpaste. But what they do well like the frozen blueberry waffles or the frozen desserts or the Thai coconut sauce, they do very well at good prices. Parking is available behind the building and can be validated at the register. Also, this being Pennsylvania, TJ's does not have cheap wine like in other states. more

Trader Joe's has a great selection of organic products from vegetable to meats. They have a lot of frozen produce that makes it easy for those of us who don't get to eat the fresh ones before they die in the fridge....and who can possibly live without cubes of frozen minced garlic?? :) Their cultural diversity in foods is impressive. You can get a variety of different foods from all over the world. Don't forget to check out their selection desserts! Forget Whole Foods, this place has better prices! more
