Are you looking to save a little money on good clothes? You can go to the mall and look for sales, but if you want to go to a place that you know you can always find a bargain, check out the Green Street Consignment Shop. This store, located near Rittenhouse Square, has some good finds....Jill Stuart skirt for $14! They have a good selection of women's clothing, but not so much with men's. The store is not big, but it's not cluttered and packed with stuff so you won't get a headache just walking into the store.

Located near the Rittenhouse Square Park, this small stationary store is a great place to shop for all sorts of paper products. They have a great selection of original cards (NOT cheesy Hallmark ones!) for all occasions, wrapping paper, stationary, pens, small gifts like photo albums and picture frames. Don't forget to check out their second floor for more stuff, and if you need personalized invitations, cards, etc., you can find help and samples up there too.

Aspen is a great little neighborhood restaurant in the art museum/fairmont area. They have a variety of menus from which to choose. If you are in the mood for pub fare, theirs is one that plays on a traditional menu with a twist....think burger, but with caramelize onions, smoked bacon and blue cheese (which by the way, is amazing!) if you crave a fuller dinner, their entrees are very tasty as well, and cost anywhere from mid-teens to low twenties.
It's has a full bar and a great beer selection, and serves dinner every night of the week, as well as a sunday brunch menu.

Situated on 3rd St. between Market and Chestnut streets, this restaurant is located in the old city district of town, where many hip restaurants reside. This one, although hip in appearance and ambiance, lacks creativity in the food department.
Admittedly, the idea of using organic foods and produce from local farmers is original, the actual dishes are nothing exciting to write about. Entrees are over priced for what you get, and service it terrible. A group of us went on a Sunday evening , where we were one of less than a handful parties, yet it took a while for the wait staff to attend to us. We were also served lukewarm coffee, and upon asking for a warmer cup, staff told us that the coffee machine is off and that they could replace it with an espresso or cappuccino instead!!!
I'd say, go there for a drink....enjoy the zen-like atmosphere, but skip the meal!

Bob Zatzman is not your typical guitar repair guy. He runs his little shop out of an old kitchen in the back of a nail salon....don't be fooled by the low budget facade, he knows his guitars! A great conversationalist, I’ve often waited in the tiny kitchen while he took care of my guitar, and listened to his stories. He is too honest to be a businessman, as he has admitted himself. He used to own a music shop, but would talk customers out of buying a specific guitar if he didn't think it was the best fit for them. Don't go there if you want very technical things done for your $2000 guitar....not because he won't know how to fix your problem, but because you'll be too afraid of the lack of "modern" equipment he might have.

So Tony may not be the cheapest mechanic, but he's a good one. I don't think you'll ever meet any mechanic that is as ORGANIZED as Tony! I was impressed at how neat the shop looked....can you imagine how meticulous he would be with a car?
(Along with the printed warranty he gives, was a print out of practical ways to take care of the transmission!)
I had my transmission rebuild from him 3 years ago, based on a recommendation of a mechanic friend, and has had no complaints.

If you are thinking of making your own invitations to a party or wedding, this is a great place to look for the paper supplies. The store has a wide variety of paper, card stock, envelopes, etc., to choose from, and you can also take home samples of the paper. It's not a "fun" stationary store, but definitely a practical one, especially if you are looking to buy bulk.

This no frills deli stocks what every deli stocks, lunch meat, cheese, bread, potato salads, etc. They have junk food, drinks, and ice cream, if you just want a little snack. They also do catering if you need that service. But what makes this place great is their unbeatable turkey hoagie lunch special: $2.45! And that's including tax!

To those who frequent this joint, it's affectionately known as "The Train"; there is a neon sign in the shape of a train in front of the restaurant, hence the nick name.
It serves, as the official name of the restaurant states, Vietnamese and Thai food. And what a great place it is for those who are budget conscious and don't want to lower their food standards!
Try one of their papaya salad, or mince shrimp on sugar cane (only $2.75!) as starters. If you crave noodle soup, pho, you can order from over 15 different combination of phos for just $4.75 a large bowl. The vermicelli noodles are also yummy for less than $9. They also have some fun drinks, from French pressed coffee to exotic fruit shakes, try one for under $3. Most of the dishes are under $10, so you can really sample the menu without breaking the bank.
