AWFUL!!! 1/8/2008

Why do they call themselves a bakery? I go in no earlier than 8:30am some week days and they don't have any mufffins, no breads, no scones...nothing. Why even call yourselves a bakery? The service is atrocious! It takes more than 15 minutes to even get food that's already in the display case (if there even is any). YIKES!!! I only go there when I am absolutely desperate and even then, I regret it. The cashiers are grumpy and curt. Don't go here. more

Wonderful omeletes 5/20/2007

I've had a late weekend breakfast here several times, and each time ordered an omelete. The presentation is always slightly different, but the food is consistently wonderful. I recommend the havarti + avocado + mushroom + blue cheese omelette, a double espresso, and the current issue of The Economist (you'll have to supply that part yourself). Bliss. Pros: Wonderful breakfast spot, great atmosphere Cons: Downtown construction more

good stuff - fun staff for a bakery 4/21/2007

Fun staff at the ones I go too hip nice not to corporate or snobby. Good food, baked goods and coffee. So many bakeries have bad coffee. Pros: Great Service and food more

Great sandwich great cake 3/29/2007

ummm Greatest cake and sandwich ever. The lady below should check out what the slow food movement is online -hehe. I get such a kick out of people - Like your opinion matters if you are upset. You Portlanders are so funny I think you all should live in New York for 6 months. Try to complain at a good place to eat there - they will tell you to not come back! You have so much good food and all you do is complain, it really is funny. Pros: Great Food - Pastries Cons: Its in Portland more

good food, poor service 12/30/2006

being a part of the slow food movement should not be an excuse for extremely slow service. in fact, they have absolutely nothing to do with one another. it took close to 30 minutes for a sandwich and bowl of soup - and then they forgot to bring out the soup. then they forgot the bread that was ordered with the soup. then they forgot the utensils, so i could eat the soup, and so it went... the soup was a beef vegetable, which was good. i tasted the pasta salad with creamy pesto, which needed salt desperately, and also a turkey sandwich (good but not epic). the employees were surly, and looked like they needed showers. put gloves on for god's sake if you're handling my food. gross. Pros: good food Cons: dirty and surly employees more

Just got done eating at Rose's (so bad I wrote a review) and had to rave about Three Lions Bakery's food. If you like good pastry you have to give these guy's a shot. I have never been unhappy with any food item I have ordered from Three Lions. They are a traditional cafe enviroment so it can take a while to get food at lunch (or what seems like a while smelling the baking going on). I had a friend that worked here and it is the main bakery for all of the stores. Have a great day. Pros: Great food Cons: hmmmm Baked goods have so many calories! more

Best Pastries, Sandwiches, Cake 6/9/2006

Great lunch spot and great pastries. I go to the new one on 23rd avenue and this location. These guys still make it all themselves like so few places do anymore. I would check it out if you appreciate quality. Pros: Good Lunch, Great Pastries, Great Dessert Cons: Busy (the price you pay for good :) more

Great Cake 5/29/2006

Man that was so good I wrote this review. I love great cake because there is so much bad cake out there. They had a special cake for slices and I bought two. Anyway these guys have the best cake Yum :P Pros: Great Cake Cons: not near my house :( more

Great Food! 4/24/2006

Just wanted to add my two cents about Three Lions Bakery. I think this bakery is the best if it wasn't in old town it would be the most popular bakery in the city. Since Marsee is closing stores we need to support our locally owned good bakeries! Support these guys people while we still have a few good morning places left! Pros: locally owned, great food, great pastries Cons: cafe seating, busy at lunch, not open late more

Good Food - Good Service 4/18/2006

Had a slice of cake it was the best I have had, wow. Papa Haydn's I was told was the best and it was much dryer then this places. They have a great cafe menu and I have never been disappointed with the quality. I came at 9am on saturday and go my food right away. Great place to surf the net and relax. Pros: Great Pastries, Great Cake, Great Food Cons: more comfy seating, more menu items, more locations more

Great Bakery 4/14/2006

I decided to go to this bakery after I read the mean spirited review below about how long it takes; seven dollars for a sandwich of this quality is cheap by the way. I have an understanding of why food comes out slower then McDonalds or Subway (how is that food America?), it usually means it is good. It took me 9 minutes to get my sandwich after ordering it at lunch. It was excellent and the side (creamy pesto pasta) was excellent as well. I would recommend this place to everyone, it is the best bakery for lunch I have found in this city. I miss Café Amerini in Florence though - Mangiare per vivere e non vivere per mangiare - cio` Pros: Great Sandwich Cons: Bad Location, It appears to have, mean customers more

Where's the cook? 3/28/2006

On two occasions a friend and I tried to have breakfast here and on both occasions, the cook had failed to show up. This place may have great food, but has been permanently stricken from our list of options. If you go for breakfast, you might want to call first to confirm the cook is in attendance. more

Delivery orders and customer service are lacking 2/28/2006

We were to have cookies delivered at 11am for a meeting today at 11:45am. 11:30-no cookies. We called to inquire about our cookies and were told the cookies left the bakery 15 minutes earlier. 30 minutes later, still no cookies (they are about 5 blocks from us). We call again and speak w/ the manager who says the cookies are right in front of him (contradiction to what we were told earlier). When confronted about that the mgr. says they weren't supposed to be delivered until 12pm. He argued saying it couldn't possibly be their fault, even though we had called earlier and they confirmed the 11am delivery time. He was not accommodating and just kept saying we must have given them the wrong time. No apology, no concession. We are taking our business to a bakery that actually appreciates it. (Besides, their cookies are not really very good anyway.) Cons: Customer service, Delivery service more

Not up to par... 1/12/2006

I speak on behalf of a plethora of my coworkers...we love the food at 3 Lions but seriously, we have stopped going there frequently (or at all in some cases) because it takes soooo long to get your order. I've even called ahead to avoid the wait - but apparently that doesn't solve the problem. Get with the times guys - in this busy world, no-one has time to stand around for extended periods of time waiting for an overpriced sandwich (cause let's face it...over $7 for a sandwich is excessive). Hopefully you take this as a constructive critique and attempt to improve that problem...which would encourage all of us to start returning! more

Watch Out! 10/26/2005

Usually when I walk through the door something is baking in the bakery. It is not fair! Of course great food and great pastries. My friend and I come down on the weekends to relive when we all worked downtown. Pros: pastries, coffee, lunch & breakfast more

Wonderful! 10/18/2004

Great for catering. The staff goes out of it's way to accomodate the needs of their customers. Three Lion's has catered my corporate Board Meetings and smaller events for over four years. Along with great food (yummy Hungarian Mushroom Soup and coffee), the service and attention to detail cannot be beat! more

WHO KNEW? 6/24/2004

This location is out of the loop being in old town but the area is up and coming! Great pastries I have had them several times and wrote this review because I can't believe more people haven't raved about this bakery! European Scratch Baking - yummm! Pros: pastries, cakes, store vibe more

foodlover 6/18/2004

I had lunch at Three lions and it was great for a bakery! Fresh baked bread and all that. The coffee was good to I guess they roast it themselves. Pros: quality, great coffee, cool store more

Wonderful! 6/16/2002

The staff is wonderful, funny, and fast! They have really good Mexican Chocolate Mochas, cookies, salads, soups, breads, and so much more! The setting is very casual and quiet. Great for breakfasts and lunches! I go here quite often for a quick coffee and lunch. Its also fun to watch them make the pastries, cookies, and cakes. Children would love watching this! more
