I've come in several times on a Sunday night to find many locals and regulars. That's a good sign in my book. The bartender takes the time to welcome everyone even if she's busy.
We recently brought some friends from out of town and fortunately the good service and vibes were still there. The bartender made some drink suggestions for each of us and it wasn't all about the money. The place got busy and even though we had to wait for service the people there really kept us in conversation and made it fun. My friends really liked this place.
Glad it lived up to all our hype.
Pros: grt atmosphr, bartnder & regulars r friendly, food tasty
Cons: never know if the bathroom is workin or not

This highly accessible children's museum is served by public transportation and is also across from the popular Portland Zoo. A trip that combines both would make for a memorable day. The museum is geared to children under 10 with a lot of hands on areas. I especially like the baby's garden area that focuses on discovery through the senses. An excellent place.

Did you know that an increasing number of women are being diagnosed with Catemenial Epilepsy?
This form of epilepsy often affects women after child birth and causes seizures as part of the menstral cycle.
Help is available!
While the Epilepsy Foundation NW provides all kinds of services from education and planning for employers to referrals and strategies for families and individuals affected by seizure disorders of all kinds, they are especially helpful to women.
Even if you're not sure if epilepsy is what's wrong..give them a call...and let them give you the questions to ask your doctor...and know you're not alone in the process!

I really like the place. It is in an old theater and you can just feel the entertainment vibe going on there the minute you walk in.
Nancy and Jerri run a really tight ship.
Pros: two thumbs all the way up
Cons: I can't go there every day.

I love that this place has hours and schedules seven days a week. They also have begginers and preschool classes that are great for the energetic toddler. Mine just wants to run all day and we found that a creative outlet like this was a great place to use up some of that energy. It is nice because once they get rid of the energy they are generally better behaved at home. This place works well with the ADHD type child. Their classes are very reasonable compared to other local places. The instructors also offer tons of praise and encouragement.

Artichoke music caters to the folk industry. They carry fine acoustic instruments and are very knowledgeable. They have a many types of lessons to offer and are fine teachers. There is a stage and back room where bands and individuals perform. Most of these require purchased tickets which can be bought at the store. I would highly recommend Artichoke Music if this is your type of venue.

This is a great teacher and lots of fun to work with. I am really enjoying playing and learning new pieces. His approach to teaching piano is refreshing. I am learning to read music, play by ear, and even do blues improv. I look forward to lessons each week. Even those weeks where I haven't practiced much is no problem; We do something new, like theory, learning chords etc. I wish I have started lessons years ago and hadn't waited, but now that I have, I am really glad I did.
Here is where I found him:

More
Little Apollo Preschool is located on the campus of Sunset High School in Portland, Oregon. Designed to be a child development class for Juniors and Seniors, Little Apollo is also an actual Preschool. The pre-school is run by 2 very well qualified and wonderful teachers who also assist the high-school "student teachers" in the class.
One of the things I love about this pre-school is how well it's organized. Since the main teacher has about 30 years with Little Apollo under her belt, and the assistant teacher has close to 17 years, the definitely know what they are doing. They have play time, circle time, project time, snack time and even time for organized games in the high school gym. They know what works and they are wonderful at their jobs. The kids love them too!
Since there are about 10-15 student teachers in each class of 24 pre-schoolers, each child has a lot of help and attention through out the day. The high school students are really cute with the kids and clearly very interested in them. Some of the high school student teachers are actually former Little Apollo students.
There are 2 field trips during the year and a fun curriculum that is perfect for getting kids ready for kindergarten both academically and socially.
The price can't be beat either. For a 3 year old, who attend 2 days a week, the tuition is $70 a month. For a 4 year old who attends 3 days a week, tuition is $98 a month. There are morning and afternoon classes available for 3 and 4 year olds and if you register around April or May, you should have no problem getting in for the Fall. (It's best to get your name on the list before summer break). There are often openings in the middle of the school year too, so it's not too hard to get your child enrolled.
I highly recommend this pre-school to anyone with a pre-school aged child in the Portland area. You won't be disappointed.

Vicki Lind has a unique approach to career development. In addition to traditional one to one services, she offers industry-based groups.
Her most popular and affordable is the Make A Difference job club for folks who are looking to develop non-profit and service oriented jobs and businesses.
She also offers a group for folks who are in the creative industries.
In 2005 she published a book that is available for sale through her business that is one of the most valuable NW-based job search manuals available.
I have sent many of my own clients to her business and all of them have given rave reviews...and accomplished their goals. Many of the clients I had were "stuck" and she is at helping people to stop procrastinating and moving forward.
