I just love the warm decor of this place. It's the kind of place where you can really settle in to escape the gloominess of a gray rainy day. There are booths and tables and a long wooden bar on the first floor. They have a great spiral staircase that leads to upstairs pool tables. The food is good and the customers all seem pleased.

While a one-time visit can be rather costly, at $15 per person for a non-member, a family membership at $75 per year is pretty reasonable for a museum that provides an excellent program with considerably less endowment funding than a big city museum. They have a decent representative collection of Asian, Native American, European, and American art. The space is well laid out, bright, and comfortable, with a nice museum store, cafe, and a new wing that will be opening October 2, which will house a new space for modern and contemporary art and the Northwest Film Center, among other new resources . Kids seem to welcome, and there are many classes available for younger ones. There are also many events for curious adults, too.

Rich's Cigar Store is practically a downtown Portland institution. Not only is there an amazing selection of cigars (I bought my first one here!), but also lots of accessories such as lighters, holders, etc. The staff is very helpful - they pointed me in the right direction at the price I wanted and I was pleased with the resutls. Also a very extensive magazine rack - where my wife usually browses while I hunt for cigars!

This mansion dates back to the early 1900s. It has an old elegant beauty and is surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of the city and surrounding mountains. I like that you are on your own when touring through it so I never felt rushed to keep up with the group. Parking is free.

I have been taking my kids to OMSI for years. We have a yearly membership, and it totally pays for itself in a few visits. My boys love all the different science exhibits and have so much fun they actually forget they are learning.
The main hall has an exhibit thta changes every so often, so it really keeps things new and exciting. This last week, we went to OMSI and for the first time, my 8 year old went into the chemistry lab, where after donning goggles, he was able to perform several chemical experiments that were set up and ready to go. The OMSI staff and volunteers were on hand to offer help and explanation. We had a wonderful time.

Great service and great selection!!!!
Prior to going to US outdoor we read the reviews and were very "pessimistic" when going. We had tried REI first and their selection and prices did not seem to be too "GREAT". So going to gear-up 2 kids and 2 adults for downhill skiing equipment was going to be a pricy experience, but should be pleasant. Pete was the sales person that helped us get it all done in record time and price!!! He was knowledgeable, friendly and so fair... he did not try to sell us the most expensive boots/skies, he truly helped us find the perfect fit in the budget we wanted. The negative reviews did not at all reflect our experience and we will certainly recommend and go back. Thanks again Pete!!!!
Pros: Service/Selection/Price
Cons: No complaints at this time, they met all our needs!!!!

We spent a couple of weekends looking for a lower-end commuter bike all over the metro area, and had no luck finding one we like, or finding truly helpful staff until we finally came to River City Bicycles. It was very busy and yes, we had to wait a while to get someone to help us, but once we did, they were just great. Unlike other places, nobody at RCB made us feel like bike-ignorant idiots, or tried to push us to buy outside of our price range. Instead, they made really helpful suggestions, gave us advice but also backed off when we needed time to consider things. We did not mind having to wait as the associates were helping others - we knew we weren't ignored. Most importantly, the bike selection was great for all price ranges, and the bike we got for my husband is awesome. Highly recommended!!! The free espresso drinks were a cherry on top of out great experience.
Pros: selection, friendly and knowledgable staff
Cons: none
