Did you know that in addition to the fantastic family atmosphere and amazing animals the zoo has great food. No not the hot dogs, pizza and popcorn. I mean the food available at the Cascade restaurant at the top by the entrance.
I LOVE the BLT on wheat with seasoned fries. The bacon is PERFECT, the veggies very fresh and their wheat bread is a step up from the usual wheat. Don't miss the seasoned fries, they are $1 more and worth each and every penny.
Don't leave the zoo without eating there. Better yet, you can go there just to eat. The top part of the zoo where the restaurant and gift shop are located are FREE! SERIOUSLY you can go there just for lunch. The price isn't bad either $8 for the best BLT in town is a bargain to me. They have comfy large booths and they are super family friendly.
My whole family loves the food there, we've had soup, salads, burgers etc.... they are all good but the BLT is the best.
Go to the zoo - eat great food.
Pros: So very family friendly - great layout - the animals are amazing
Cons: There is a bit of construction going on making it difficult to see some of your favorite animals - Parking can be a challenge, take MAX!

The Acropolis is worth the trip. The food and beer are really good prices. The ribs aren't that great, but they are cheap. The girls are typical of Portland strip clubs. Not fantastic but pretty good. Go before 5:30 to avoid the cover charge.
Pros: What the food may lack in quality it makes up for in quantity
Cons: If you are a fussy neat freak who is above the rest of the rif-raf, maybe not to your liking.

This might be TMI for some of you, but if you're also pregnant you will understand! At 28 weeks I can't see what is going on below the waist anymore. I was a little nervous to get a bikini was for the first time with my present condition but since I can't do my own "grooming" I thought it was worth a try. I felt comfortable from the start, the gal who waxed me did a great job explaining everything as she went along, good conversation helped distract me from the pain. After she was done waxing she trimmed things up, yes I was a little embarrassed to have someone else "grooming" my area but she assured me she does this all the time for ladies in my situation. Sadly for her, I will be back!

I made reservations for Darcelle's for my sister's bachelorette party and I am sure glad I did! Such a fun show and so entertaining. Very much worth the money and a fantastic place to go to for parties and a girls night out. The servers were excellent, very attentive to our drink orders. I will definitely come here again!
Pros: Awesome performers, excellent service, entertaining show!
Cons: Parking

About Pittock Mansion in SW Portland, OR-
There are rumors that every old home just about everywhere has its' ghosts, especially the larger the house. This is a beautiful home and the overall feeling is one of calm and completion. My personal experience as a local sensitive/clairsentient who has visited Pittock Mansion many times times - though not taking the tour until my 4th visit to confirm what I "know" - is this: the 2 sisters' energy lingers as light and joy at the south side on the 2nd floor, they were very happy living here, but there is no male ghost in the middle bedroom - only a photo exists there, and there is a faint but definite energetic "memory imprint"of a baby who died at the north end bedroom upstairs. I can feel the grief, but the baby is not there, nor is the older sister. It is one of the more peaceful homes I have experienced, full of residual energies. But I still want to visit the downstairs, as there feels an heaviness from there, but since they do not allow for tours there, I can only feel the draw to get down there. The other place I feel an heaviness with an unusual history not normally known and told is of the caretaker who lived with his family in the little house below the mansion to the south, esp. 1920-30s. haven't had a chance to check it out yet. If anyone has similar "vibes", I would love to hear about that.
Pittock Mansion is truly a gorgeous home and lovely just for its' own sake - I encourage anyone interested in historical architecture (check out the stairs) to visit, and take a notebook and jot down impressions if you are so inclined to cultivate your own sensitive skills, afterwards you can research the known information of the residents and the home. It is the best way to hone those inner skills.

If you're into European art, this is the great little museum of the Northwest. (Seattle Art Museum specializes more in Asian arts.) Each summer they'll have a big exhibition -- in 2004 it was the Rau collection, this year it's Sargent's paintings of children. Well worth the drive to see paintings that are otherwise located only in the worlds most famous cities without all the crowds!

No pole, one stage, one pool table, and a whole lotta character; that's the Magic in a nutshell. Unlike other places "with character," however, the Magic actually manages to be almost human. The hotness of the dancers may be a dicey endeavor for some, but I've never really seen a dancer there I didn't like. If you're looking for one of those places where the girls are gonna hustle you for as many lap dances as they can get out of you to pay their stage fees, forget it; dancers at the Magic are just there, which is nice, because it makes the atmosphere more laid-back and (if such a thing is possible at a strip club) genuine. Sure, the small room makes for a smoky and claustrophobic space on busy nights; but if you want a spacious meat market, go to Mary's. If you want a nice place with few bells and whistles, and dancers that actually know something about music, stop by this little place.
Pros: Music, dancers, no seizure-inducing light shows
Cons: small, smoky when crowded, less-than-spectacular liquor selection

The Schnitz really is a great venue to see a concert, play, or speaker. The architecture is gorgeous--like you just stepped into Vienna. The acoustics are very good and the seating provides good views of the stage whether you are in the orchestra or far balcony.

I love to go to this bookshop and browse for hours. Everything is organized by style of cooking, speciality, and easy to find. They have gardening accessories, gifts for children, and a large selection of dinnerware and decor. They have new and used books, so after you tire of a cooking book, you can return to Powell's and trade it in for some new kind of cusine. Their gardening section is immense and has something for every level of gardener, be it novice or advanced. They have a whole section of Northwest gardening books. Superb bookstore with gourmet selection!
