I really enjoyed seeing the Prodigy & think that this venue enhanced my experience, as even general admission (which is what I had) I could see,hear & FEEL the music.....loudest concert I've ever been to. The staff there is nice & professional and I'll definately come back! more

My daughter and I went to see The Decemberists at The Warfield. I enjoyed the music, but the small venue was overcrowded, and some people were rude and inconsiderate of others. Had the fire dept showed up i'm sure they would of cited the theater for exceeding occupancy limits. The security was more concerned about where people were standing and ignored the people smoking grass. Drinks were reasonble if you went and got your own, but prices more than doubled if you used a cocktail waitress. the standing only can be uncomfortable for people with back, leg, or knee issues. and due to the smokers and the overcrowding this is not an all ages venue as some websites list it. Thankfully my 13 year old daughter didint like the smell of the dope and asked if we could leave, which we did, only five songs into the set. more

The Warfield is great small venue for seeing your favorite music. The staff was great, the sound excellent, the food and drinks reasonable in price. My girl friend and I got to see J. Satriani and Mountain and we had a great time. She ask one of the staff members if we could sit down at the reserve tables(the $300 seats) before the show and they let us take a seat at the bone table. A little friendly conversation and we sat there for the entire show, luckily avoiding the rowdy herd standing in front of the stage. Thank you 107 the bone, for your unofficial perk to an old time listener. Thanks to the band and staff of the Warfield for a great time. Nice venue, some staff on a power trip. I went to The Warfield to see Marilyn Manson in February 2008. I must say that it is a very nice venue and it is a classic building. With some strict staff. When I walked in the doors the lady said unzip your jacket, no mace, no knives, no narcotics as she did the pat down inspection which is done at any venue. But all the questions no this no that shows they are strict in a good way. Then when I got to my seat I pulled out my camera and start taking a few pictures. Then this 70's rocker security guard (that lolorashel complains about) comes by and tells my area no pictures allowed (I wasn't the only person taking photos). So as you know people don't actually stop taking photos including me. Later that dude comes back and tells another man a few rows in front of me to stop taking photos and makes the dude go check his camera. And the guy is telling people not to take photos while other people are smokin illegal green & cigars about 5 rows in front of me. So anyway as the concert goes on I continue to use my phone as secretly as possible to film Manson. Anyway later that same guy catches me again and it is towards the end of the show. He was nice enough to just make me put my cell phone away. But still earlier he had told me it was Manson's policy that they don't allow filming and photographing, but normally The Warfield allows it. Well on The Warfield's Ticketmaster page it says no photographing or filming allowed. Ok so they have that rule I should have respected. But other Venues owned by Golden Voice, same one that owns The Warfield, allow it. It was wrong to have broken their rule but that security guard only seemed to go after people with cameras but not people involved in illegal acts. A WTF thing. Yet not all the staff is strict. One nice staff member pointed out I gave her too much $ for a shirt. So over all: some strict some decent staff, parking is a nightmare (it's SF) nice building, cramped, & annoying 70's dude. The Warfield is one of the most unique concert venues in the area. It provides a one of a kind experience for any concert goer. The staff is also unrivaled in customer service. Elaine at the box office as well as all the security guards were extremely accommidating and helped us enjoy a great concert. THANKS ELAINE!!! more

Elaine B provided awesome customer service at the box office. We had a real problem with our tickets and she was able to help us with the problem. She had a very proffessional, friendly and caring attitude. We had a great time seeing My Chemical Romance. General admission was great for enjoying the concert. The staff/security are total jerks!!!!!!!!!! They are rude and utterly suspicious of everything. I got thrown out of the building and missed the concert because my friend (whose 21) imprinted his stamp on my hand. I knew it wasn't going to work because the stamp was backwards and I was literally on the verge of washing it off when they told me to pack up my stuff and leave. I'd understand if I was at the bar trying to buy something because they would have caught me in the act, I wouldn't be so upset!!!! But to kick you out because of an assumption is wrong. If you go, don't make a stupid mistake like me because they really don't listen to any excuses no matter how liable they are. They just assume you're just another teenage skank trying to score booze. By the way I turn 21 next month!!! I'd understand if I was like 16-17 but they actually told me to take out my id which had my birthday on it and then told me to leave. I'm not saying they should give me special treatment, but at least possibly give girl a break or a warning if she is about to be of age. Anyways, enough of my ranting. I've actually been to other concerts there which hadn't been as bad. But the entire place is congested and smoky. You think they'd throw people out for smoking for there have been numerous times I've seen people smoking in the bathrooms. but no, the venue is beautiful. But I think the staff definitely tarnishes the historic beauty of the place.anyways good luck...... I had a very similar bad experience with the staff. I don't want to put down the entire staff because there were many decent people working there. However, I have been to the Warfield twice recently and BOTH times the same stringy haired, obviously-failed, wanna-be 70's rocker was there as "security." First, he walks around with his little flashlight and flashes it in people's faces, even if they aren't dong anything wrong. I watched him grab people and try to throw them out, even though they weren't being violent with him. I watched him take shots with kids under the table in exchange for looking the other way while those people did whatever they wanted. I listened to him brag to 16-year-olds about his supposed connections in the music business (right, and that's why he's working security at the Warfield) and how many women he could get because he is "usually" on stage picking and choosing the "hot chicks" that get to come up and dance with the band. Even 16-year-olds weren't impressed by that. Apparently if you hand a washed up idiot a flashlight, he thinks he owns the place. I'm not a kid. I don't drink and don't smoke. I go to enjoy the show. I don't need a security guard constantly flashing his light around and acting like everyone is breaking the rules. I will not be returning to the Warfield. That guy ruined my fun time two times now. And I'm not going to waste any more money on tickets in a venue where it is hard to enjoy the show because of some idiot who needs to power trip on paying customers. I was reading the other reviews to see if I could find a little insight into parking in the Warfield neighborhood. But I saw the other reviews for the Warfield and thought I'd give it a bit of a shout out. I've only seen about five shows at the Warfield, but enough to say that I agree it's an established SF venue. I've never had a negative experience at the Warfield due to its staff. I respect the opinions of the other people that wrote reviews, but I am of the opinion that I go to a show to see the band that's playing and a bitchy bar-keep couldn't keep me away from seeing a band or artist that rules. The reality is that the Warfield books great acts it's the biggest venue in SF that is remotely intimate it's not the Fillmore but nothing is. It's also not Slim's, the Great American, Bottom of the Hill or the Independent which are all great venues but those places don't book acts like Seal, the Strokes, the Hives, etc. The only advice that I would give, that if possible, get floor tickets, I've had balcony seats for some shows and do feel that the floor has better sound. more

I have to say I'm suprised by all the sour reviews. I have seen over 50 shows at the Warfield & have never experienced anything like what they described. Every employee I've ever encountered was friendly & helpful. I've even had the bartender tell me she added extra whisky to my Crown Royal on the rocks b/c the price of the drink was so high. On another occasion, I pulled my ID out to get a drink stamp in the front lobby & the fellow working smiled & said "Ah, you old veteran." Not b/c he recognized me, but b/c I knew the routine. Awwww, no seats on the floor? That's why it's called a "dancefloor". The guys who greet you at the Fillmore sound forced & impersonal.That's their JOB to stand there & say"Welcome to the Fillmore". Thanks, I've been here a bunch of times too! The Fillmore is a great venue as well,but the Warfield is The Church of Jerry! You peeps who bag on the Warfield probably don't even like Jerry Garcia I'm guessing.Or go to very many concerts for that matter. Let me start by saying that the Warfield is a beautiful, old structure great for a rock 'n roll gig, however I didn't feel welcome by the staff there the minute I walked through the doors. I got the sense that the staff people were annoyed by my presence and just wanted to bleed me dry and send me out the door. The security people had a hair trigger and would attack at the slightest provocation. I would expect more respect from the staff as a paying cutomer, but you won't get it at the Warfield Theatre. They take your money and send you packing! I won't be returning to the Warfield anytime soon. The rude, heavy handed staff really is a total let down. I would avoid going to the Warfield if at all possible. Try the Independent instead. You'll get a LOT more respect than at the Warfield. I was just at the Warfield for the Damian Marley concert and every single person that worked there was a complete power trip. They were rude -yelling at people- and had zero tolerance or customer service skills. We're all there for the same reason, to have a good night and for a reggae show the vibe was not as positive as I was expecting. I went to the Warfield w/my mom to see Billy Idol back in 2001. We had nosebleed seats, and my mom was having trouble getting up the stairs. One of the workers caught notice, and got us table seats to share w/two other people. That was nice.... more

First, almost no seating and seating that was availible didn't allow you to see show. Second, security was more interested in making sure that a table wasn't being used than dealing with a loud, obnoxious drunk. Since the theatre personnel wouldn't deal with the situation, I was forced to ask the drunk to quiet down so we could hear the music. After being assaulted, security finally did remove him. Caught Seal at the Warfield and while I was impressed with the interior and architecture, was a bit dissapointed with the rest of the venue. Service was a bit lax in some ways and strict in others. For a general admission concert, they were a bit strict as to where you could stand. Coat check took forever with only one person. Acoustics were also a bit muddled given the small size. Overall, would prefer to catch a show at the Fillmore or Bottom of the Hill. Pros: Decor Cons: , Sloppy Service more

Whatever happened to good, quality customer service? The bartenders were super bitchy and irritable, they totally ignored people when they would come to the bar, and then they would eventually help the patrons after carrying on a conversation for another 2 minutes with eachother. And appearance is important, they all looked like they just rolled out of be, maybe try dressing up and looking nice (make-up might help some) to represent the club that you work for?! It might also be a good idea to hire someone who knows how to bartend to work in a club, almost ruined a great night. Pros: Good venue, Great music Cons: Loser bartenders more

The historic theater is quite nice looking, but the sound in this place is terrible. The first time I went, I thought it was just the band. After my second visit, I decided it was the venue (note: I have been in the balcony both times). The poor service is also a bit of a downer. I will never return.
