The Homestead is now where the old Dylan's used to be. I never had the chance to visit Dylan's before the regime change, but I'm told the new version retains most of the charm of the old. The interior has had a bit of a makeover, but it's still a great beer bar, a place where you eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor and snuggle up to a Stella Artois near the bar's large fireplace. The jukebox (a thoughtful and inspired mix of 80's favorites, country, punk and blues) is good stuff, too.
And if the promise of cheap beer, good tunes and a warm fire aren't enough to lure you, I have three words for you: Roll A Day
Tell the bartender you want to play, slap down your $1 and try your luck with the mismatched dice and rolling cup. Each buck paid goes into the "pot" and if you roll five of a kind you win the pot (last time I was in there it was up past $1400). Four of a kind wins a free drink. Only one play per person per day.
