Poor Service 3/10/2009

This place was recommended by the concierge in our hotel. Our party of 9 went and experienced one of the slowest and latent responses in service possible in a supposedly upscale restaurant. We literally waited over half an hour for our drinks and bread! Food was just ok. Do not go here. more

Good Food/Drinks, nice ambiance 8/13/2008

I was staying at a nearby hotel for work, and stopped by the Cosmopoliton Cafe because of it's location. Nice ambiance, two decently sized bar areas and as well as a lounge-ish eating area in addition to the main dining room. I had the Goat Cheese Gnocchi which was very delicious. Decent menu and drinks, service was a little less than friendly but overall I would recommend it as a good stop if you're in the area. Pros: good food, good drinks, nice atmosphere Cons: a bit pricey for what you get more

Horseflies Martini! 1/13/2007

The meal was fantastic. I started with the calamari and salad. And, I had the steak for the main entree. However, when it came to my third drink, I ordered the mai tai cocktail. After sipping it a few times, I looked closely and there was three large horseflies in my drink. The waiter took the drink back and apologized by giving another drink on the house, which did not compensate for drinking an contaminated cocktail. more

Very nice, very classy, didn't seem pretentious at all... 9/22/2006

Had dinner here for my birthday and loved it! They have a great atmosphere, very classy and not too loud so conversation could be heard. Especially liked the piano playing in the background and tried the best steak ever, seriously melted in my mouth. Our waitress was very professional and nice about getting our order in and seeing if we needed anything. Try this place! Pros: THE FOOD!, atmosphere, great service Cons: none, really... more

Fabulous Food, Service, & Ambiance 8/9/2006

I celebrated my 1st Anniversary at the Cosmopolitan and would highly recommend it to absolutely anyone. We sat at the bar waiting for our coveted private table by the window. Their Sparkling Cosmo is light and fruity but not too sweet, the crab enchiladas are just spicy enough, the crab soup with jalape?o creme fresh was to die for, and the warm Scharffen Berger chocolate chunk cookies and vanilla milkshake was hands down one of the most imaginative desserts I have ever had; made me think of my childhood. The layout of the restaurant is wonderful and I love the fact that you can bring a good bottle of wine from home, eat dinner at the bar on the ground floor, talk to the bartender, and listen to the Piano & Lounge singer all night. Pros: Phenomenal service, amazing food, and wonderful atmosphere. Cons: No parking, take a cab. more

Great Happy Hour locale 7/30/2006

The perfect happy hour place for a cosmo or martini in a relaxed atmosphere. It can get pretty crowded (but so do all of the other bars...) I have only gotten appetizers but they were all good, especially the tuna. And the 2 free hours of parking at the Rincon Center is great for non-financial district workers. more

Good food and reasonably priced 2/2/2006

I went for dinner with for my birthday and was very impressed. The service was excellent, the food was very good, and the price for the meal was very reasonable. Plus, it was not crowded or noisy and there was a live jazz band in the bar. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Pros: Good serive, Good value, live jazz more

It was so good I went back the next night! 1/22/2006

A friend and I went for the Dine About Town special and we both really enjoyed it. They had a sedate bar for the sports guys and a hip bar for all the socialites. There was a jazz combo playing in the background which added to the ambience and the drinks and food were really good. The key lime cosmo is my new favorite! Pros: food/drink, bar hangout more

just okay.... 8/28/2005

Before I say anything negative about this restaurant I would like to say that the service was excellent. The hostess was courteous and friendly. Our waiter, Tony, was great. He really took care of us. With that said, the food wasn't that great. The only thing that my husband and I enjoyed were the appetizers. We both ordered NY Angus steak and we both didn't finish our meal. The dessert was surprisingly bad. We ordered the moulten chocolate bread pudding and I still can't understand why something so bad took so long (it's one of the 25 min pre-order dessert). If you want to try this restaurant...go for the appetizers and drinks...not the food. more

Horrible Service 2/16/2004

Didn't care for this place when there during the dot.com highs - but thought I'd give it another try now that the economy has changed. Still don't like it and won't ever recommend this place to anyone. Went with a group from the hospitality industry (who could be very influential in sending biz their way) and we've all never had such inhospitable service - with bad cosmos to boot! Horrible atmosphere with uptight servers with an attitude. The food we had didn't leave any better impression either. Avoid this place like the plague. more
