Where you least expect... 8/19/2005

You'd find knitting and sewing notions: Capitol Hill. Stitches carries fun fabrics (fun designs, bright colors, tempting textures), a decent selection of yarns, and many accessories. They also carry "Sublime Stitchery" cross-stitch patterns (which must be seen to be believed - fantastic, creative) and offer crochet, knitting, and sewing classes. A small but bright shop, Stitches is welcoming and full of things to discover. more

Stiches 8/18/2005

This is a brightly colored shop sells more cloth and fabric than you could ever need. You probably won’t find any old ladies here, either—their stuff seems to be modern, retro, or super stylish. In the back, you can find yarn and knitting supplies. Prices are good, service is good. It’s a great alternative to the big fabric shops that your mom went to. more

Stitches - Capitol Hill 8/16/2005

It might not be appropriate for a grandmother-type, but Stiches is a new independly-owned fabric store on Capitol Hill. The website trumpets the selection of stretch vinyls, but they also sell lovely cotton prints and nice silks and brocades. They also have a great selection of vintage-style prints.
