I was ready for a Big Change haircut & my beloved former stylist is no longer in the area, so a friend told me about Simone. He & another co-worker have been going to her for years & were really happy with her work. Now, in my opinion, it's probably not too hard to give a guy a good short haircut, but the other co-worker has long, super-curly hair & I know that's got to be a bear to work with, but she always looks fabulous! I mean ""movie star"" fabulous! I was sold.
First off, the place is in a cool part of town, surrounded by great indie restaurants & shops that I love. Her shop has such a great, funky but classy vibe that it makes you feel comfortable right away. Then, there's Simone & Melanie, who are both really friendly & make you feel at home. Even the background music was great, thanks to Melanie being hip to Pandora.
But all of this would be nothing if the haircut wasn't good, right? Well, it was one of the best salon experiences I've ever had. Simone knew what I wanted within seconds & gave me a total rock star look!! Not only did I leave looking amazing, but she made sure I knew exactly how to style my hair (promising it would only take 10 minutes & I believe it) & told me to call if I had any questions or issues with styling on my own. To me that is the sign of someone who really cares about what they do - she doesn't just want you to look good walking out her salon door, she wants you to look good all day, every day!
The upstairs of Scissors is like a spa retreat & I can't wait to bring my best friend here for a mani/pedi afternoon. If I'm feeling daring I might even try an airbrush tan one of these days! I would feel comfortable trying any of the spa services at Scissors, because I know the experience would be up to Simone's top-notch standards.
Thank you so much, Simone & Melanie! I'll see you in 6 weeks.
p.s. - In regards to the poster talking about being ""sweet-talked"" by someone at Scissors, well let me assure everyone here Simone does NOT up-sell, hard-sell or use any other kind of technique to get you to do something you don't want. She didn't try to talk me into trying or buying ANYTHING. She gave me the haircut I came in for & let me know she appreciated my business. A total professional.
Pros: friendly, comfortable, knowledgable, talented, affordable
