I like most people was badly in need of a change. So I got to looking around and reading reviews. Once I read the review about the ""Rita"" cut I knew I had to call and make an appt. As luck would have it I was able to get in that Saturday. I felt completely comfortable as soon as I walked in. I got to speak with Simone and Jenn on what I was looking for and what we came up with was wonderful!!! Not only was I lucky enough to get such a great color and cut but as I was there I saw this lady with a awesome cut and I just had to ask........YES it was the owner of the ""Rita"".....I came very close to asking if she minded if I copied her......but I'm going to see if Simone can some up with a one of a kind for me. The Rita cut is fabulous as the lady that wears it!! All of the customers there were great as well. You will never have to look any more. Don't delay another day.....make the call!!! you will not be disappointed!!!! more

I have to say I was very impressed with the service along with the quality I received at Scissors Hair Studio. I had an important meeting and was in dire need of a hair cut. As I was downtown, I stumbled across this salon and was hoping I could walk in for a quick trim. As always with any new beauty parlor, I was leery and timid (I am picky about my hair). To my surprise, I was warmly welcomed as I walked into the place. The place was very clean and had pleasurable aroma through out the store. The hair consultant was very thorough and compassionate about my needs. As my wonderful experience began, the peppermint scented shampoo was a tingling and sensational delight. After my hair was reformed, I felt that I had an excellent professional cut at a very reasonable price. I would recommend this place anyone as I felt it was the best unisex salon that I have been to in a long time. This was not the worst, but certainly notanywhere near the best, haricut I've ever had. I also felt like Simone was pushing color -- I just wanted a haircut. I also didn't want the manicure that was suggested, and felt like she was pushing that as well. Maybe it's just me, but I felt like she was a bit aloof after I wasn't opting for more services. Guess this isn't the place for everyone. more

She's nice but I wasn't really impressed with my hair..... I appreciated her time and effort but the style wasn't like the picture I showed her. more

I chose Simone and the Scissors crew for my wedding day hair and everything turned out perfect. They blocked off the whole morning for myself , my mother, and all six of my bridesmaids. They provided Champagne and let us bring in food and goodies. We had a mini-bridal luncheon while we got our hair done. My bridesmaids all wanted drastically different things (some were wild and others were very basic). Simone and Jessica were able to perfectly match pictures that the girls brought in and added their own little creative touches. Several of the girls had no idea what they wanted and both stylists listened and gave them up-dos that they ended up loving. My hair was important to me because I didnt have a veil and Simone gave me a BEAUTIFUL updo. I received tons of compliments - most people said ""You look beautiful, I love your hair."" One friend told me that as a whole, my bridal party had the ""best wedding hair"" that she had ever seen. Not only did we leave the salon happy and excited, we left early - they ran ahead of schedule. I highly recommend Simone and Scissors for any wedding party or other special occasion. \r more

After so many great reviews I was extremely eager to get the best coloring and cut in the Richmond area. However, the color I wound up with was way too dark for me and not what we discussed and agreed on. The cut was also not what we discussed -- I had wanted no more than a few inches. I should have protested sooner, but after the initial snip of 6 inches, I felt like the damage had already been done and just held my breath and hoped for the best. There were way too many layers and it is now growing out in all directions. It's been weeks now, and people still politely say ""oh... you cut your hair differently"" and ""that's a different"" look"" and ""that's an interesting color"". Very dissapointed all around. i have dirty blonde hair, which i'd never dyed, and i was bored and looking for a change. additionally, i'd gotten this horrible page boy cut that i hated. i found out about simone at scissors on this very city search site and decided to book an appointment with simone. the area where the salon is located, shockoe bottom, is a super neat part of town. simone's salon is unique and homey. simone took the time to sit and chat with me about what i wanted, looked at the pictures i brought, and better yet, recommended to me what she thought would look good on me based on the kind of change i was looking for. well, a FABULOUS cut and color later, i get compliments any time i leave the house! i now have this awesome cut that flatters my face (and i have STICK STRAIGHT hair so giving me a good haircut can certainly be challenging) AND fabulous dark red hair with chunky blonde highlights. since i'm fair, boy, the color in my hair makes my skin and blue eyes POP! pretty much every person i see that hasn't seen me since simone cut and colored my hair notices my new 'do and compliments me on it. i'm super happy with the results and think you will be too, should you decide to see simone and let her work her magic on you! I found Simone several months ago, after being constantly disappointed in hair services. I drove for 4 hours to see her for the first time. The salon is unique and Simone will not disappoint you! I left with a great cut and beautiful dimensional color. I have lived in Dallas, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago. Simone is so talented, we are fortunate to have such talent in Richmond. Wanting a change from my usual salon that always did just an 'okay' job, I went on citysearch to find a highly recommended stylist. Seeing how Scissors got such great reviews, I booked an appointment, but I think I just had too high of expectations. I wanted a different color and a bit of a change with my bangs. When I got there, Simone didn't take the time I thought she would to really hear what I wanted. I thought my color job was a bit too rushed, maybe due to being behind in the appointments for that day. However, I initally thought the color was great, but when I got home, it just was too light. And as for my bangs, some were way too short, and I've been having to strategically style my hair since my cut to hide them. Overall, I didn't have the best experience, which was a shame for how much I paid. I'll try somewhere else in the RIchmond area for next time. more

Hi I actually got my hair cut at Scissors a couple of months ago but have just got the time to write this review. I walked in to Simones place and was able to get an appointment the same day, she actually had a spot open in one hour, so I went and had lunch and came back for a change in apperance. Simone sat down and asked me what I wanted, not knowing I gave control over to her she told me what she was thinking and made sure I was alright with the idea. I was, and boy am I glad that I let her do it! I have gotten so many compliments about my new doo that I have given her name out to many friends so hopefully they will find their way to her. I'm new to the area and was looking for someplace not so cookie-cutter. I trusted the reviews on Citysearch and booked an appointment for a cut and color. I was pleasantly pleased to see such a cute little artsy shop and Simone offered to make me a sandwhich. She recommended a violet red and I went with it. She didn't cut off a lot of hair but she did a fabulous job of getting rid of some of the weight with the razor. I left the salon satisfied, but when I looked at the color, I hated it, but I attributed that to it just being different from my previous shade. A couple weeks later, I'm still not loving it; in fact, it's changed into almost a reddish-orange (24 shampoos til its completely gone.) The color is not complimentary to my skin tone; it completely washes me out. \r \r I will say that I did see her work on another client and that the transformation was amazing--both cut and color. I'm new in the area and wanted to find someone who could cut and color my hair. I found Scissors on this site and it had 84 reviews! So, I thought what the heck, let's give them a try. Simone did a FABULOUS job!! I usually give carte blanche to my stylists because they envision cuts and colors that I would have no idea existed! Simone sat down, looked at my current style and color and said, ""Let's go on the redish plum side."" My hair is gorgeous and the color enhances my cut and my complexion! The next day, I was traveling back home to Chicago and I got so many compliments on my hair in the Richmond airport and O'hare, as well as on the streets in my Windy City!! I have gone to several salons for a short, professional cut but failed to find a stylist to listen to exactly what I wanted and one with the experience necessary to create the style I was looking for. That is until I went to Scissors Salon! Liz listened to what I wanted and gave me the best haircut I?ve had in my life. Liz also colored and highlighted my hair, which came out better than I ever imagined! I had previously dyed my own hair auburn, which I could not get rid of (I tried dying it dark and light brown, which only dyed my roots and left the rest of my hair red). Liz stuck with it and got rid of the red, which was not an easy task. She worked until she perfected the color as if she was dying her own hair. I don?t think I have ever had so many complements on my cut/color before. Liz and Simone were warm and welcoming from the first minute I walked into the salon. It has been a couple of years since I have been in the RIchmond area. When I was there I had the wonderful experience of having Simone color and cut my hair. I had so many compliments, more than any other time I have had my hair done \r I also had Simone do my makeup. I had compliments on how good my skin looked (not how good my make up looked). I purchased a couple of tubes of the foundation and later had some mailed to me. I have recently moved to Minneapolis, MN and the winter here is cold and dry. So much so that after running out of Scissors / Simones' brand of foundation I went to Sephoras and a department store and purchased 7 different - high end brands - of foundations. To my horror each brand proved to not be ""weather-proof"". They seemed to ""shrink"" during the day so that I had blotches and very evident foundation lines. It was beyond looking cakey. I cut open my tubes of Simone's foundation open and used them. It worked beautifully! I have just ordered more and can't wait to get them. The product is better than costly high end name brands (including Chanel, Cargo and a few more)! Simone has created a product that works in any type of weather! I always, and I mean always, get compliments when I wear her foundation as to how good my skin looks - not my makeup! At 52 the coverage is complete, never looks or gets cakey and lasts all day and into the night! I can't say enough about how great her products are - not to mention they are priced to be affordable and well below what they are worth.\r If you are in the Richmond area, treat yourself, have Simone do your makeup! I am sure, regardless of your age, you will fall in love with her products. I can't express how impressed with her I was and still am. Her talents in hair and makeup are 2nd to none - and I have tried enough places through-out the country to know this is true!\r I am waiting for her products to be on QVC and/or HSN! Treat yourself to hair and makeup. Put your hair and makeup in her hands and let Simone do what she does best and you will be glad you did! She is a true artist! Fabulous!!! I found this salon by reading the wonderful reviews on city search. I called first thing in the morning, and after an awesome conversation with Simone, I booked an appointment for the same afternoon with Liz. She was amazing! Actually, they both were - they really took time to talk to me about my hair type and what color and cut would be best. Liz took her time and made sure I was comfortable and happy throughout my color and cut. I LOVE everything she did - the color is amazing and the cut is exactly what I wanted. I will definitely be calling Liz and Simone again in a few months. I've tried a few other salons in Richmond, but have not found anywhere that compares to Scissors in service, value, and quality. I told you it might take a few days for me to post this, but after all the compliments I've already gotten from friends, I'm posting the same day. Thank you Liz!!! Disagree with Kaylen07.....Great stylist...great color...great service.....pleasant atmosphere and.....LASTING perms! There is a parking lot nearby, which I have never had to use.(AND SHE DOES HAVE A/C!!!!!!!!) more
