Lewis Ginter is a botanical garden of extraordinary proportions -- they have plants from all over the world, dozens of rare orchids in the conservatory, a large children's garden with a handicapped accessable tree house and to make matters even better they do a GIANT festival of lights for the holidays -- there are light displays all over the place and it's just so much fun to walk through. The prices for a one time visit are pretty reasonable and the membershipd are a steal!

I love this place so much! It is a very nice store with great prices! They sell new and used music CDs, records, viedos, and movies. The people are very cool. The selection is outstanding. I would recomend this store to anyone who loves music but does not want to pay 20 bucks for a CD. Perfect score!

This is a GREAT place for a family trip! We just went here last weekend, and the zoo has changed tremendously in the 2 years since we had been there last. There were many new exhibits and animals, as well as a new Safari Skyride (an additional $3 over the cost of admission to the zoo). The price to get in is very reasonable- only $7.75 or so for adults and $5.75 for kids. Definitely one of the cheaper family day trips in Richmond!
If the zoo keeps growing like it is, it will be an even better example of what a city zoo should be like (even though it isn't very close to the city of Richmond itself!)

The Regal short pump is one of the finest entertainment complex in richmond. It has got movies for all different ages with detailed movie information with their ratings. It is a very nice place to with a family on a holiday and enjoy a movie. The service is really good here and not tough to get a ticket most of the times. The place is neat and tidy their surround sound effects inside the theatre is really good.

Outdoor ampetheatre with live music and performances that are FREE to attend. Sponsored by the city of Richmond Parks and Recreation this is family entertainment at its finest! Pack a picnic grab a blanket and some bug spray and have a great time at the park! The schedule usually comes out right before Memorial Day (kick off) and they usually have 3 theatrical performances per year. There are many music performances and dance and kids shows too! Plan a family outing at the DELL. See ya there!

This minor league baseball team is a great family outing. The area businesses often offer coupons and discounts and the prices aren't bad anyway. The kids love seeing the mascot running around and you can even have a birthday party there. The food is pricey and there are lots of signs saying not to bring outside food with you. (but plenty of people had food with them) We enjoyed the game and it wasn't too crowded.

Paint & Play located in Chesterfield Towne Center is the place to go to let your creative juices flow. My children BEG to go there. First they pick out a ceramic object to paint, choose their colors, and then leave it for a couple of days to be fired. I will always cherish the knick knacks they have made there. I have to admit I had lots of fun there, too. The staff is so friendly and helpful, and they treat you like they love working there. They offer birthday parties that I think would be a big hit!

The Westhampton Cinema is without question, a Richmond institution. Located On the Avenues (Libbie and Grove area), it attracts both old money characters and new hip folks. The common attraction is the alternative film. It's a refreshing alternative to the cramped local cineplex showing the latest blockbuster.
No matter what, you are guaranteed a thought provoking, get out of your normal box experience!
