I've seen lots of Advanced Auto Parts ads and seemed like they carry a lot of items. I needed a specific part for my car and I went to this store to look. I couldn't find it so I went to the customer counter to seek help. They made me wait for a long time without acknowledging me, and they didn't even seem that busy. When a rep finally decided to serve me, he just briefly looked up in his computer and said that they don't have the part in the store and I might have to special order them. When I asked if they would special order it for me, he punched in something in the computer and waited for a few seconds and mumbled something like the computer is not coming up with anything ... and then he just walked away and left me standing there! I was not very happy and left the store. I am certainly not going back there.

I have been a long time customer of this auto repair shop! It has been around as long as I can remember. The original owner, Buddy, sadly has passed away , but his daughter and wife still keep his shop and dream alive with the personalized services you can rec've there. They offer all types of repair, inspection and products at their store which is conveniently located in chesterfield county. It is kind of tricky getting out of the parking lot, but other than that this is a great shop with great friendly people running it.

I recently took a car to get inspected. There was a wait so I expected the service to be good. When my car finally was inspected I was told that my brakes were bad (I had just replaced them) and that bulbs in the back were blown. The amount of money that they wanted to replace the bulbs and than the dialogue on my brakes. I quickly left and went to Firestone in Innsbrook and passed inspection with no problem.

I used to think that this was such a convenient place to get a car repaired, I could drop it off and walk over to the mall to keep busy --
I had some misgivings about the service I was getting so the next time I had a car problem (fan belt kept breaking) I took the car in only after looking up my options and figuring out what was wrong with it myself --
When I got my diagnosis back they recommended a $2000 fix to the car that could have been done for the cost of $7 -- They didn't mention anything else and in fact told me that if I didn't do the $2000 repair the car's a/c would break apart and fly around in the engine and ruin the whole thing --
I was SO offended I have never gone back and make sure to tell anyone I know how dishonest they were.

I took two older vehicles into this location to be looked at and repaired.
After 2-3 weeks, I was told that one couldn't be fixed and junk it. The 2nd car, which should have been an easy fix, was too much trouble for them because they say they do not know how to work on older vehicles, nor have a guide to figure out the charge.. I was told to take it to another shop that they named. I was also told that they couldn't tell me if I needed anything as the person hadn't even looked at it.
When offered to have a guide brought in, they agreed, then when brought in, was given a brush off after spending extra money for the guide.
When the vehicles were towed to my residence, the driver just dropped them off with the keys inside, windows rolled down and without letting anyone know they had done so.
I had always thought Firestone was a good business to deal with. IMO, this particular store's employees do not care.

I have been dealing with Petey off and on for several years and think he is a great person to deal with.
Petey is very pleasant and his work is excellent . He is extremely fair with his prices and is a very honest mechanic
The shop is located right off Staples Mill Rd. near Hilliard Rd. in the West End.
If you want a mechanic that knows what he's doing and will be fair and honest, Petey is the man to see!!!
P.S. Ladies, Petey does NOT talk down to you like I have experienced with some mechanics and he'll explain whatever you ask to the best of his knowledge.

I have been to many auto shops in richmond, but until i was recommended here i thought all auto shops are crooks. Heard many great things about them so I decided to give them a shot. First time i went in, they fit me in the schedule. They mostly work on honda's but they also now do domestic cars. Once they could not find whats wrong with the car so they did not charge me anythings. Try that at dealers. They will charge you 80 bucks just to open the hood. I would not take my care any place but to them.

I took my car in once for engine knocking noise. Firstly they came up with engine block is screwed up. Then they asked me to change all the plugs and wires. After wards i get a call that oil pan needs to be changed. The total repair cost 1500 bucks. The car is not even worth that. Took my car back and took it to my mechanic. Got the issue resoloved and he said plugs wires are fine. Only need to replace bolt on the oil pan. Very unhappy with them.

More
I just wanted to let everyone know of my great disappointment with Dominion Chevrolet in Richmond, VA. Last Wednesday my car would not start, I have the warranty so it was towed to Dominion. My husband had a really hard time getting them to call him back. Finally at 5:00 pm they called him and told him that the ignition switch had gone bad after only 3 years and it would be Friday before we could get it back. They called Friday to tell him it was ready and told him they would leave the keys over the visor so we could pick it up Friday evening. When we got there Friday evening, the keys were not under the visor. My husband was really upset and went in to talk to a manager. He told him that he could not help him that we would have to come back Monday. If I had not had a spare key, that would have been 4 days with out my car and the manager didn't seem to care. As I inspected my car, I noticed scratches from it being pushed in to the shop and other scratches all away around the car. If it were only two, I would have dismissed it but there were at least 10+. I do not drive often and I never park next to anyone or near buildings. So Monday morning, instead of going to work, I went out of my way to Dominion. I stood in line for what seemed like a long time to retrieve my key. The man had me pull my car up to look at the scratches and then he brought out the service manager who never even acknowledged me. He kept telling the other guy that the scratches were old because they had wax in them. I asked how they had wax in them several times being ignored the first few times. Finally he told me that it was from my car being washed. I know this is a lie because my car has not been washed in at least a year. They said they would buff out the back if I brought it back on Wednesday. Now the resale of my car is going to be less and I'm going to have to live with these awful scratches on my car and lose quiet a bit of vacation time. What horrible customer service, I didn’t even receive an apology for what was obviously caused by them using a motorized vehicle to push my car in the shop, nor did I receive the paperwork on the ignition work. What a shame that they had to lose two devoted customers over this and apparently several others from what my co-workers have said.
Just one question - where is the Honda dealership? ha ha.
