The Place To Be 4/11/2007

I don't understand why the other reviews from people who do not want to go out and have a good time are complaining about? This place is the spot to be at, Friday or Saturday, it's no comparison to any other night life spots. The place is so decked out with beautiful chandeliers, plushed out red velvet booths, fascinating interaction with the bar staff (midnight free alcohol shots poured, compliments of the club), over the top customer service from all working staff and the music is so diverse and creative. If you haven't been here before you have to experience yourself, the place makes Coyote Ugly looks UGLY! Pros: Everything abou the place is a pro Cons: Need to get there early more

Failed to Mention/Watch Out! 3/24/2007

My friends and I decided to have our graduation party at Rouge (Secret Party thrown by Ali). The email correspondence was great and the party promoter informed us that we would get 2 free bottles of champagne and dropped the bottle service for the table from 2-4. He told us bottles were around $150+. When we were trying to close out our bar bill they inflated the bottle price to $300 and presented us with two different bills for the table. The promoter (Ali) didn't step in and refused to deal with the situation. He instead let the person at the club inflate the rate. They never presented us with a menu and the evening turned out to be wack. Watch out for the club. Get your agreement in writing and be careful with your credit cards. I didn't read the other review about them giving away someone's ID/credit card. Would have been helpful to know this in advance. Not what I expected 3/24/2007

My girlfriends and I went there on Saturday to celebrate a birthday. The crowd was full of sloppy drunks. There were broken glasses on the ground, the floor was sticky and wet and the dress code was not enforced (mostly with the men). The men were not good looking at all and most of them were super sleazy. The bouncers at the front door were turning people away and were really rude to some people. I expected a lot more and unfortunately they didn't deliver. more

Not a great place for dancing and dringking 2/25/2007

I went to rouge because of the good review, and it looked interesting from the outside. When i went inside i already felt the boring vibe, it was not a good lounge. The decoration is horrible, the bathroom was dirty, and the music is boring. The most dissapointment for me was the bartender and the music. The bartender was rude and not comfortable to ask for drinks. The music was not up to date and the beat was horrible, sometimes they played good music and suddenly the next one was slow and old, it was a downer for dancing, and add to that the dancing place was small. If you want to have a really good experience for your weekend, I really don't recommend this place. Great if you want them to give your credit card and id to a stranger! 1/21/2007

I would NEVER EVER EVER go to this place! They gave my credit card and id to a stranger....made me stand there while they looked for it, and never even gave me a drink! This little excursion took an hour of my night. Not to mention they kept telling me that they gave it back and I lost it. HA! This place could be run better by my dog. Thankfully the gentlemen who had my id and credit card returned it to the bar, never once did they say sorry for this HUGE mess up. NEVER GO THERE!!!!! You have been warned. more

Fun place to dance 11/4/2006

This is a great place to dance, but it can get crowded. The bouncers swear they are all that but as long as you are dressed right, they won't harass you. It can get annoying when the girls dance on the bar when your trying to buy your drinks. Sometimes though the girls that work there will get on the bar and pour bottles of liquor in your mouth, good way to get free liquor. Everytime i went there I always had a good time danceing up a storm because they always play good music. Pros: great dancing Cons: parking and bouncers more

Rouge- Has the Formula for Exceptional Club 8/27/2006

Hi Ya'll - What makes for a great club experience? It's simple. A) DJ knowd what hell he is doing! Plays records that current and some older hits; fast and slow. Hip-hop and some rock B) Ample room for dancing! And people are dancing! Because the DJ's experienced and the drink are flowing. C)Next, the bartenders give you your drink without the presence of EGO. Keeping you liquored-up. D) Staff at least act like your important for that nite. It's called service. Even the attendent in the men's rest was cool brotha. Anyway, its comedown to the service; its was professional and on point. It kinna reminded me of Vegas on smaller scale, cause I aint have to wait in the line of 2 hours! ah! So, go Rouge to party. If you can't have good time there then you dont know how to have good time pimpin. I might have my birthday party there. Ok, I'm done. Hope this review help. more

Amazing bartenders !!!!! 11/23/2005

Amazing night , we trive on people watching , rouge batrenders are the most fasinating mixers I ve seen in along time . Great drinks , fun to watch and real gem for the city nightlife . Laura and Sarah are the hottetest bartenders out there. Amazing Happy hour on thursdays and fridays 2 $ drinks with great Tacos and a cute tatooed bartender more

Cuase it is not worth the $20 the try to charge.... I do have to say alot of girls.. so so drinks.. VIP service is fine.. it does get over crowded.. and you do run the risk of gettign harrased @ the door by the Cheesy Black suit bouncers.. Like the music cause they play mostly Hip hop and not some crappy house or high energy junk... Have been several times.. and most likely keep going once in a while Pros: Girls, Music Cons: Crowded, Bouncers, Overpriced more

Give Me A Break!!! 7/21/2005

I went out to Rouge for a fun club night with some friends and felt like I'd taken a wrong turn off the Jersey Turnpike. Although this club aspires to be upscale its more like a bad music video. I had to wait in line for way longer than necessary while watching the bouncers in their cheesy black suits harass people for no reason. Once I got inside I was confused about what the wait had been for. I basically paid a cover to buy overpriced drinks at an 18 and over club. The bar was cheesy and the crowd was even more so. Think Twice Before Going 10/24/2004

Obviously it depends on what you are looking for but Rouge (on a Saturday night at least) is not the place to go unless you are looking for a sweaty, crowded area with mediocre overpriced drinks, and a youthful bridge and tunnel crowd. I paid a cover of $15 and consider it money thrown down the drain. It requires serious effort to buy a drink at the overcrowded bar which charges more than your standard SF prices and to top it all off you end up with mediocre watered down drinks. I had just come from the Clift Hotel which may be difficult to get into and even more expensive but at least the money spent there is well worth it for the beautiful people and ambience. Lots of ladies to dance with 3/28/2004

That's my overall opinion of The Rouge. One of the better dance spots in the city. Drinks are a little pricy but worth it- they be strong. I went to Rouge for a friend's birthday on a Saturday and had an amazing night! The DJ was great, service was speedy, and the crowd was enjoyable. I loved the vibe and all the friendly staff. I Lovethe fact that they had valet (VIP SERVICE)!! I hate clubs that make you find your own parking. Some parties have long lines, but when you are on the guest list there is no wait. I do recommend reserving a table, great table service. Overall, the music and vibe is great. Unimpressed 2/22/2003

After standing in the guestlist line for over an hour, watching countless morons get in for free by sucking up to an obnoxious bouncer with a power-trip I was completely unimpressed with what I saw after I got inside. Not only did the doorman leave me with a bad taste in my mouth but so did the crowd inside, the boring music and the unattentive waitstaff. Don't waste your money on this over-hyped dump. Fun Dancing 12/29/2002

I went on a Thursday night. Some of my friends from work invited me. I had heard mixed reviews about Rouge, but went with an open mind. I found out it was "asian night". I'm not asian, but I felt totally welcome. I had a complete blast drinking and dancing. I loved the ambiance. The plush red velvet with sparkly chandeliers is a great look! more

I have no idea why Rouge has such a bad review, I think it's so much fun on Saturdays! Fridays are slow but if your looking for a good time go on Saturday when French kiss is throwing the party. Staff is friendly too. Don't belive everything you read try it for yourself. more

  • The Scene
    With a name like Harry Denton's attached, it goes without saying that Rouge has certain standards of decadence to live up to. A wave of red velvet washes over the interior, leaving space only for gold-gilt mirrors and a startling number of crystal chandeliers (33 in total, but with all those mirrors, who could be sure?). Between the silver confetti on the floor and the throbbing dance music, Rouge gives the vague impression that this year's Senior Prom has been thrown in a Jazz Age bordello.

    The Draw
    Rouge is over the top, so it's best to come prepared. This means hoisting yourself into the tightest black tank top you can find and letting that suave European businessman buy you a cocktail. It's the kind of place best experienced on a bender (bachelorette party, anyone?), when you can afford to reserve a booth and share an iced bucket of bubbly with your posse.
