Extensions with Jean Marie are a must! 2/23/2008

I hadn't been to the Red Door for quite some time and recently made a trip back. The spa looked great and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. Jean-Marie is man to see in the city for extensions. He is at the spa on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you are thinking about trying out extensions, dont go anywhere else! Pros: great locations, talented technician Cons: parking more

Best haircut anywhere 11/30/2007

If you're looking for the very best haircut, ask for Taka at the Red Door Salon. He listens carefully to the cut (and the look) you're wishing for, and accomplishes it every time. Plus the whole experience of this place is pleasant. The staff is hospitable, capable, and cheerful. And the excuse of a haircut finds you In the heart of San Francisco's lively downtown, upscale shops, and great lunches. Pros: skills, ambience, service, close to public transportation (BART) more

Disappointment with Spa Week Pedicure 10/10/2007

I had a disappointing pedicure at Red Door a few weeks ago. I had a ""Spa Week"" special on a pedicure, and I am not sure if I was not given the full service since I had a special rate, but there was NO massage (even the cheapo places give a massage) and nothing special to recommend the service. There was also a special event going on at the spa that afternoon/evening, so it was loud and busy and really not relaxing. The pedicure was fine (polish applied well, etc...) but not what I would expect for the list price, not even what I would expect for the $50 special. Since there were no ""spa extras"" (not even a locker in which to put my shopping bags much less a robe!), there was nothing provided that in my mind supported the cost. I could have gone to my local nail spa and paid $30 for a deluxe pedicure with more ups and extras in a more relaxing environment. Truly a disappointment. more

So relaxing and great staff! 10/10/2006

I love the Red Door Spa. I go on Sundays when it is nice and quiet - it is fantastic. I've been getting my hair cut and colored by Emily and I love it. All my co-workers love my new do and want that same chocolate truffle color that I have.\r \r Thuy does the best mani/pedi - well worth goign here versus one of those quick shops. I've never had a mani/pedi like this before.\r \r For waxing - Lisa and Natalia have both done right by me! more

Fantastic Haircut and Facial! 10/10/2006

I've been living in California almost 2 years and have finally found someone who can cut my ""freakishly thick"" hair - EMILY. She is a great and my hair is really hard to deal with! After I get my haircut, I always get complimented at work and stopped and asked about my hair. You've got to check her out!\r \r Also, Deborah gave me a great facial. Again, very thorough and she really knows what she is talking about! more

Fantastic Salon & Spa 10/8/2006

I'm originally from New York and so I'm quite familiar with Elizabeth Arden. When I heard they were opening a location here, I was thrilled and have been a very pleased customer ever since. They have top technicians in all areas -- mani/pedi, hair and massage -- and I highly recommend it as a great getaway right in the middle of downtown. I'm also a huge fan of their 7/52 line of body products, especially the tangerine amber salt scrub. Their prices are high but worth every penny for the quality and care you receive. Pros: Great technicians Cons: Parking more

Mediocre at best 7/19/2006

This place is just average. Don't waste your money as there are soo many better places in the Bay Area. Locker room was a bit run down. Worst part was I waited 40 mins before I had to go find someone to help me find my technician (an apparent mix up with scheduling which they remedied with an upgraded facial ??). Overall just not real impressed. And oddly enough, technician had no product suggestions for me at the end--didn't even write down the products used during the treatment. Come on, work it a little!! more

Best Mani/Pedi 11/28/2005

I am super picky when it comes to mani/pedi jobs. I wear dark polish so I need skill in the application of polish and attention to every detail is a must. There is nothing that special about the actual salon or nail stations, but the reclining chairs are comfy and the heated aromatherapy neck wrap is divine. Thuy and Jenny are both great. If you are looking for a consistently solid mani/pedi job this is the place. Its pricey, but after wasting money elsewhere on inferior mani/pedi's to find a place that equals this I've come the conclusion that I have found THE place. Pros: Service, Polish Application, Relaxing Cons: Pricey more
