Best

I only had a few hundred dollars and I wanted a great bike. They had it and they had so much more to offer, they certainly have bikes for every price range.

Worst

Service is quick and friendly and the guys seem to know their stuff and do a good job with the bikes. Prices are reasonable, at least for the basic stuff that we needed (new pedal...

Staff had attitide, prices high 8/16/2009

When asking for assistance to buy a bike, replies were I am too busy and find a sales person. Fine. Continued to find one wandering and drinking his coffee, and asked again for help. Strange answers to all the questions we asked. ie How long do you think this bike would last for my 12 year old Answer; I dont know you know how fast she will grow more I do and lots of attitude in all the answers. When I asked about the 10% discount online for Cascade Bike Club members the saleperson said 5% on bikes and 10% on accessories only. When I bought the bike lock( an accessory) moments later, I asked about the 10% and was told it was 5 % and it will be changing very soon and Cascade Bike Memebers bring nothing to their store and it will be decreasing or disappearing very soon. How impolite to tell me that when I had come to buy a bike because of it! I was leaving because of the attitude of the salesperson and because their prices were $100 - 200 more than Performance Bikes where we bought it same day. When I asked if that meant he had enough business, he said yes they are very busy.WOW - go to Performance Bikes or anywhere else!!!! more

Fast and easy service 3/22/2009

I admit it; my bike sat in the rain all winter. The place I bought it wanted 2 weeks before I could get it in, then another two weeks for a tuneup. I called Recycled Cycles; "bring it on in. Well, yes, today." I showed up "let's see. You need a new cable. I can bang this out in ten minutes." Any bike shop can give you some attitude because bike enthusiasts are a cliquish bunch. At R.C. I got the feeling they wanted to recruit, instead of exclude. Thanks for the quick and professional work and the uncomplicated labor and parts rates ! more

Awful Service, If You Can Get It 7/30/2007

Unless you are a serious cyclist and look the part you won't get any help. This is one of the snobbiest stores in Seattle. Recycled Cycles rarely has used bikes anymore and its rarer that you'll find anything at the entry-level price. If you want a good deal on a bike go to Bike Works in Columbia City. They are super helpful, have a selections, and are a non-profit -your purchase helps their youth program. Its probably what Recycled Cycles used to be like, before they got too cool. more

Great People/Inconsistant Service 8/9/2006

I bought my bike there and the salesgirl was great, she even took care of my baby while I took a few bikes out for test rides on a rainy day. They also have good prices and do their best to hook you up. My only complaint is that the bike repair is inconsistent. When I first got my bike it worked great and they obviously were the ones who built it; however, after I took it in for it's 90 day tune up the ride deteriorated, the gears started slipping, and the chain started to rub against the the front derailleur. The guy didn't even manage to get my handlebars on straight. I took the bike back a week later they told me that everything seemed ok, but the bike hasn't run smoothly since. By all means by your bike here, but think twice about getting it tuned here, even a free tune up may end up costing you more than than if you had gotten it done at a more expensive shop. more

University District Bike Shop 8/29/2005

They are great 4 fixing problems w/ your bike, selling new and used(mostly), having equipment, and usefull biking information. There prices also are not that bad seeing as how they just recycle bikes and all. All-n-all this is a good shop to go to if you have any bike questions or problems. more

Fancy new and lotsa used 8/18/2005

I've had good luck going into Recycled cycles and getting minor bike repairs made, and I would certainly trust them with more serious work too. The shop consists of one room of new seeming, gear (includeing some rather high end goods), and another with a bunch of used bikes/bike pieces in it. Together they form a nice and complete selection of new and used bikes and bike accesories. My experience with the staff has been generall good... there isn't really that snobbishness that sometimes comes with speciality sporting goods stores. However, there are times when I go in and am bombarded with help to the point where I feel like I just need a little space. Overalll, its a great shop. more

Vintage cycle parts, great service 8/16/2005

With their knowledgable staff and good service, Recycled Cycles is my go-to place for bike repair. The shop is a bike mechanic's dream, with bins of bike parts of every kind, and frames and wheels hanging from the ceiling. Want cheap parts for your cheap bike? They sell used tires, handlebars, and anything else you might need. Want premium parts? Chances are they have those too, and will install them for a fair price. Great service, cool place. more

used and new bike gear 8/16/2005

I’ve been going to Recycled Cycles for years. You never know just what you’ll find there—lately I’ve been looking for the bicycle that was stolen from me last year. They have a wide selection of new and used bike gear and a competent repair shop. They are very open to giving advice and have friendly helpful staff. more

Recycled Cycles 7/26/2005

Recycled Cycled in the University District has a diverse selection of new and used bikes and gear. Prices are okay. The mechanics are good too. I prefer this shop to any others that carry used bicycles. more

Pimp my bike 6/1/2005

Recycled cycles is an awesome way to purchase cheap Seattle Transportation. You can buy a refurbished bike or take yours in for repair. Seattle has a ton of bike paths so there is really no excuse for complaining about the price of gas for your commute if you are in the greater Seattle area. Get down to Recycled Cycles and check out these deals! more

Friendly discount bike shop for a bike-friendly town 5/24/2005

As a life-long cyclist, I love how bike-friendly Seattle is. Not only are there great trails and bike paths all over the place (hooray for the recent East Lake Sammamish trail victory) -- there are also excellent resources for cyclists on every kind of budget. One of my favorite local stops is Recycled Cycles, near the UW Medical Center on Boat Street. These guys sell both used and new bikes and accessories, with a strong focus on bicycle commuters. As a used-bike specialist, their stock varies considerably, but they're always one of my first stops when I'm looking for anything from a new bike to parts and accessories (like second-hand Burley trailers). If they don't have want you need on hand, they're very plugged in to the local cycling community, and can probably help put you in touch with someone who's selling what you're after. more
