I went to O/8 for a date and was very impressed by the by-the-glass wine pairings. The monkfish wrapped in pancetta was outstanding, and they aren't kidding when they call the seafood bisque "sex on a spoon."
The server mentioned that they served a weekend brunch, but I dismissed that as a hotel location standard... until I went in Saturday morning, nursing a gentle hangover.
The beef tenderloin hash is, as the server put it "a committment". The poached eggs were so smooth I mistook them at first for sour cream, topped with spirals of green onion.
The dish was unexpectedly and totally delicious. It's not a dry fried hash like I'm accustomed to at diners; it's a smooth sauce and roasted vegetables and the beef is top notch, tender and robed in a sauce that accelerates your fork.
The tenderloin hash sets a pretty high bar, but I'm definitely coming back to see what else is that good.

I bought two bicycles here and came back a year later when the weather and wear had them shifting poorly. I even signed up with the $50/year "club" for discounts, but apparently that doesn't apply to service outside 30 days after purchase.
I could get on the service schedule two weeks later, after which they promised the bikes might be ready in a month. When I missed getting my bikes there on the service date, I went to the back of the line.
I took my bikes to Recycled Cycles and got them worked on the same day.
I'll come back to Performance Bicycle for parts and accessories, but I'll take my service work someplace that wants it.

Sometimes I get a little disappointed with the tiny tables and equally tiny coffee cups, but the Varsity isn't about massive food or fancy ingredients. It's warm, consistent, always friendly, always dependable.
The only innovation in recent years is the sauce on the huevos rancheros, which is one of those things when you wish you had a spatula so you don't miss a drop. Delicious.
Some mornings I intentionally decide to work from home so that I can go get breakfast at the Varsity.

I called Recycled Cycles; "bring it on in. Well, yes, today."
I showed up "let's see. You need a new cable. I can bang this out in ten minutes."
Any bike shop can give you some attitude because bike enthusiasts are a cliquish bunch. At R.C. I got the feeling they wanted to recruit, instead of exclude.
Thanks for the quick and professional work and the uncomplicated labor and parts rates !
