Best

I just moved back to the Seattle area a while ago, and I needed to find a new gym. I was lucky to find Olympic Athletic Club! I wanted to find a gym with a pool, free parking and ...

Olympic Athletic Club is the best! 8/9/2009

If you’re looking for a great gym in Seattle, the Olympic Athletic Club is it! The club sits in the historic district of Ballard in a charming brick building that brings a complete new feel to the gym. It’s cozy and comfortable, and set up much like a spa. The place is beautiful, and very clean. The locker rooms have everything you need: lockers, private dressing rooms, hairdryers, a sauna, a hot tub, and showers. The club also offers several well stocked and well maintained weight rooms, tons of cardio machines, fitness classes, sport courts, and a large, saline-based pool sans harsh chemicals. The employees are also extremely friendly. You can definitely tell that it’s a family business, both in the staff and the patrons that work-out there. They even have childcare and various classes geared towards children. The price for membership has even lowered over the years, and it’s completely worth it for what you get! I will be a member of Olympic Athletic Club for a very long time! more

Great Gym, Good Price, Quality Equipment Without Pressure 1/18/2006

We love this gym/club. It isn't cheap, but it is nice - pool, racquetball, machines, machines, machines, yoga, basketball, you name it - it's a great place to work out after work or whenever (they're open 24 hours). No pressure, friendly, neighborhood place. more

Health Club in Ballard 10/23/2005

The Olympic Athletic Club is a great full service club in Ballard. It's in a strange old building, so it's a multi-level club. On the first floor there is a weight room, day care, pool and cafe. Second floor has the men's locker room, cardio equipment, group class rooms/basketball courts and racquet ball courts. The third floor has the spa, women's locker rooms, nautilus room and women's only work-out room. The locker rooms have steam rooms, saunas and Jacuzzis. Very nice. more

Olympic Athletic Club + child care 9/2/2005

I've been a member of OAC for a few years now and I have to say that it's my favorite gym in Seattle since the Vault was bought by those horrible Pure Fitness people. OAC is definitely more expensive than your average Golds, 24 Hour Fitness or Pure Fitness, but it's worth it. The facilities are nice, they have free parking, a pool and childcare. You get a certain number of hours free per month with your membership. more

Olympic Athletic Club 8/22/2005

I've been a member of the OAC for about 3 years now and as far as gyms go, it's great. This is a family gym, not a meat market and they'll make everyone feel comfortable. It's a strange building...first floor has weights and the pool (short 20 yards), a juice and sandwich bar; second floor is cardio (lots of bikes, ellipticals, treadmills), racquetball courts, mens locker room, basketball court/group class rooms; third floor is womens locker room, small women's only room (stretching, free weights and one bike), nautilus and the spa. The women's locker room has a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi and individual showers. No assigned lockers. Dues run on the expensive side, but the place is clean and they have good equipment and free parking. As about corporate rates and you may save some money. more

Way too expensive, but nice racquetball courts 8/19/2005

The club does have a few nice things: great racquetball courts, and a decent cardio room and pool. That said, the weight room is terrible, the building stinks, the locker rooms are gross and the entire thing is WAY overpriced. There are a number of better options in the area, so don’t waste your time at this place!! more

Not worth the price 8/17/2005

I was a member of this gym for a few months, until I left to join the cheaper, friendlier Ballard Health Club. OAC is definitely a nice facility, with a pool, and is open 24 hours. However, it's filled with huge muscle bound men grunting in the free weight room and it's almost impossible to find a cardio machine during any of those 24 hours. Also, it seems that they are not very nice to their employees. In the few months that I was a member, at least 7 people were fired. more

Olympic Athletic Club Spa - Non-members welcome! 8/16/2005

The Spa at Olympic Athletic Club is a great choice for a massage and non-members are welcome! Heather McRobbie is an absolutely wonderful therapist and I've heard great things about the other therapists there as well. The massage rooms are wonderful little sanctuaries in the gym and there are showers right across the hall (womens) or downstairs (men) for a before or after massage rinse off. The women's locker room also has a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room (not sure about the men's) that you can use. more

Smaller pool - warm, very little chlorine 8/23/2004

This is a nice place to take a child swimming. The water is warm and barely chlorinated. The pool is definitely on the smaller side (20 yards I think?) and the space is a bit cramped, but still pleasant. There is a lot of "open swim" time, some lap swimming in the morning and evenings. Also, this pool is 24 HOURS. more
