Comprehensive exam: experience and wisdom combined with technical skill 12/30/2008

I've been wearing glasses and contacts lenses since the 70's. I've had many eye exams through the years. I can say with authority that the routine eye examination I received from Dr. Daniel Weinstein (291 Geary St, Ste 404, ph 397-3387) was the most complete eye exam I have had in my life. Dr. Weinstein understood my insurance coverage better than I did, even though I'd prepared by bringing a printout. He was graciously tactful when a phone call confirmed he was right (and I wasn't.) The exam was thorough; Dr. Weinstein's physical exam and eye tests were the most complete I've ever had. His specific questions about my vision history, general health and lifestyle habits made me confident that the prescription I walked away with was accurate and appropriate for me. The best part of the visit was when he answered my questions before I asked them, and his answers didn't have that alarming edge that some health care professionals use to intimidate patients with. It was refreshing to have the positive aspects of my vision discussed too during an exam. I feel good about my eyes after listening to Dr. Weinstein. I enjoy the Union Square location because its a part of town I like to be in and I like how easy it is to get to using different types of public transportation. Dr. Weinstein is an energetic and experienced optician who employs his talents with compassion and wisdom. I am happy to recommend him to you. Pros: Technical Skill combined with experience and wisdom more

Technologies born today are willed for hopes of a better tomorrow. Of course, Opthamalogical experimentations are among the highest of EXTREME RISKS ...afterall, "you get only ONE pair of eyes"...so far anyway. Almost 2 yrs ago when Laser Eye Surg. had its GIANT boom in popularity (remember all the "2 for 1" specials?), most young Eye Docs' could not wait to measure you up an Rx for SURGERY. Daniel W. asked if I had problems wearing contacts (13 yr veteran AND -5.0+ Rx)..My answer was "No problems" and he said simply, "Then why take the risk?" Good point!! Dr. W. was also up-to-date about the latest discoveries/innovations concerning eyecare and contact lenses! Just goes to show...WITH AGE .....REALLY DOES COMES WISDOM!! Pros: Attentive, Knowledgeable, Energetic Cons: Busy Union Square more
