Absolutely the best Sandwich in Town 9/13/2009

A local bagel / sandwich shop in ""walking distance "" along my beach run -early morn and even late sunset time. Best tasting coffee ever I had. Beats Peets and Starbucks. Hot sandwiches are magnificent- freshes ingredients, melted warm cheese, red ripe tomatoes, crispy lettuce, sour Sourdough bread, just the very best. Have to wait 20 minutes (when line is out the door) but definitely worth the wait. Enjoy the coffee, its fresh, aromatic, and bold. Pros: Sandwiches are gourmet indeed, so fresh Cons: have to get ""to go"" since so crowded and popular more

Cream and Sugar? 12/6/2007

A quiet local establishment owned and operated by a local family. Very down-home style atmospher that relaxes you into your comfort zone. Sincerely one of the few mom & pop places left in San Francisco. Couple this with the location directly across from Ocean Beach, and you can't go wrong. Great place to meet friends or make some new ones. You not only get whats on the menu, but the ambience of the local neighborhood which makes this truely a special place to just sit back, and enjoy. Considering that I am a fourth generation San Franciscan myself, I highly recommend this place. PS This ain't no Starbucks! Pros: Outside seating, and Ocean Breezes. Cons: Foggy Weather and parking more

LOVE the vibe! 3/14/2007

This little, hidden coffee shop is totally laid-back and reminiscent of Venice Beach and Santa Monica areas, and is a welcome break from all the corporate chain coffee stores. Locals are always relaxing and chatting, the menu has a large selection for lunches (tons of drinks, sandwich options, soups, pastries and cookies, etc.), and the prices are very reasonable. I have gotten sandwiches here before and they are delicious and big, and very California with sprouts, all-veggie options, etc. If it's sunny out (which is rare), definitely pounce on an outside table. If you live in the Sunset, don't miss this spot! Pros: location, food, ambience Cons: cash only more

Ray of Sunshine! 7/29/2005

As a local Sunset resident, my husband, dog & I enjoy a happy hr pitcher of Pale Ale or Guiness at least once a week. It is a great spot to catch the last of the afternoon rays, enjoy a cold pint and listen to cool music playing on the outdoor speakers. On chilly days, it is great as place to stop for a hot cup of tea before hiking up Sutro Heights and Lands Ends trails. I have not eaten here yet, but hear the oatmeal is great and the sandwiches! more

Cute spot 7/15/2005

I stumbled upon this spot while exploring the Outer Sunset and fell in love with it! Really adorable and right on the beach. It's cozy inside, with people reading newspapers on those two big couches, but there's always a line. I just had a coffee -- no food -- but there's a big menu there. There's also an outdoor seating area where people sit with their dogs and chill out. Really gorgeous! more

Beachside Coffee 5/15/2002

I love this place! Located right at the N-Judah turnaround, with Ocean Beach right across the Great Highway, it makes a great place to warm up with a hot chocolate or bowl of soup after a windy afternoon at the beach. Or get a latte to go before taking a meditative stroll along the waves. The chocolate-peppermint cookies are really good, and they also have sandwiches, muffins, and bagels. Funky interior, always lots of surfers hanging out front. more
