I had high expectations when sitting down at the nicely appointed Flying Fish. The food was exciting to look at but bland tasting. The drinks and oysters on the half shell were ...

Nice dinner with cocktails (several, actually) 5/8/2006

We hit the Flying Fish on Saturday night after indulging in our fair share of martinis. Not wanting anything too heavy, we walked down 1st Avenue and decided to try the place. We started with yet another cocktail and ordered up a series of salads and entrees. One item I highly recommend: the goat cheese salad. Very tasty. I also went for the Thai crab cake, while one of the members of our party went for the Salmon crab cake. While appetizing, the Salmon crab cake was killer. Another thumbs up. Everyone commented on how good their particular selection was, so all in all a very good experience on the food side. If you're a wine afficianado (I'm not), this might be worthy if only for the sheer magnitude of their offering. The wine list is so complete it looks like the fine print on some sort of legal document. Surely something on the list is good, though I couldn't make a suggestion. The service was good, if somewhat a bit snooty (in Seattle?!! What's up with that?) The ambiance was solid, though. It was sufficiently lighted, rather than the depths of darkness some places try to impart on you. The restaurant is very open, with a full bar running through the heart of the place. It's Belltown so it's a bit spendy, but it's certainly worthwhile relative to the other places downtown. more

Great great crab 8/15/2005

...for my money (and mouth), the Salt and Pepper Crab at Flying Fish is the tastiest crab in town. It's spendy and minimum two-person to order since it's so huge, but it's awesome. For a more traditional steamed-with-butter presentation, I've heard people swear by the seafood in general at Oceanaire... but for those who like a little spice and flavor Flying Fish rules. more

Great Seafood in Belltown! 7/12/2005

Located in Belltown. Flying Fish is always busy, always fresh, always fun! We have never been disappointed at Flying Fish. Its a great place to have a great dinner without dressing up. Its casual and offers a great food selection. My favorite dish is the Seared Tuna! I highly reccommend it! Flying fish has private rooms for larger gettogethers or business events, offers a nice wine list and full bar! more

Good not great restuarant 6/14/2004

Had dinner there last night and had some good food. The tuna poke in particular was excellent. But -- for the price it's just a 7. I expected more. more
