We took our 2 year old here and she loved it! The prices were reasonable. We rented the little push cart jeep thing and it worked out great. I forgot to bring a hat but the gift s...

There is NO smoking area on the zoo grounds, so, if you are a smoker, unless you want to walk half a mile or more to have a cigarette, the zoo is not the place for you. (In case ...

Who doesn't like the zoo? 6/24/2014

It's always nice to visit the zoo once in a while! If you visit too often it starts to get boring! If you space out your visits it's fun! It's just something different to do to get you out of the house! It's a bit pricy. more

Denver ZOO 8/6/2006

I just recently took a trip to Denver, CO and of course while i was there i had to take another trip to the zoo. i visited the zoo there a few years ago and couldn't wait to visit again. Its a huge zoo and its very clean. all the employees are so friendly and fantastic. this zoo has every type of animal that any well equipped zoo should have from tiny little chipmunks to enormous elephants. my favorite animal to visit is the giraffe. just beautiful. the animals were all so beautiful and well taken care of. and the peacocks came right up to us and spread there glorious feathers out and flaunted about. you can stop and take a ride on the train which tours around a small section of the zoo where the rhino's are. or you can hop on the giant merry-go-round. there are lots of places to eat or get a snack. its all average priced for a zoo, which means kinda pricey depending on what you get. they have shops all over the place for souvenirs and they all have the theme of the animals that are near them. the main gift shop at the front entrance is two levels and sells everything from toys to clothes to home decor, including some really cool african masks. if you stop at this zoo, make sure you visit the beautiful giraffes and the gorilla's. there is one gorilla in particular. i think her name is betsy, she blows kisses and the kids love it. :o) more

I agree 4/13/2006

This is a great Zoo! Denver if so lucky to have it. They have animals that most people will never see in thier life time. Last time I was there, they had white tigers. How cool is that? It is so neat and I also really like the seal exibit. They are so fun to watch the way they swim and move. If you get a chance to go to the Denver Zoo you should do it! more

The Denver Zoo 4/13/2006

I love going to the Denver Zoo. It’s a great place to spend a day, no matter if you are a kid or an adult. I’ve been going to the Denver Zoo for over 15 years, and they are always coming up with new exhibits and remodeling something. So, even if you have been in the past, you should go and check it out to see what’s new! The animals aren’t as active in the heat of the summer, and the smell is at its worst then. I think the best time to go is in the spring or fall. Also try going earlier in the morning, rather than in the afternoon, so you catch most of the animals when they are awake. more

Animal Fair 2/27/2006

The Denver Zoo is a great place to take the kids and get in some walking. The best thing is that ANY time of year can be good since we frequently have nice days throughout the winter you can enjoy the zoo year round. Our favorite is always the primates. I learned last time we were there that there are two families of gorillas and they keep them separate form one another to prevent chaos and death. The volunteer zoo staff giving info on the animals is fantastic. Most of them have logged hundreds of hours volunteering and are very knowledgeable. You can tell they really enjoy what they do. There are "free days" at the zoo and other museums around town. You must check these out at SCFD.org! more

I think it's one of the best I've been to 2/8/2006

The Denver Zoo is tops! Clean, easy to navigate and not ridiculously spread out. They offer an easy-to-read map with admission. I love their primate exhibit and while I am not an animal rights expert, it appears that the habitats are like the real thing appropriate and safe for the animals. For the money (and they offer many free days for local residents as well as an annual pass) you can't beat the Denver Zoo. We always take out of town company there. It is well-shaded in summertime and the exhibits are educational as well as interesting. Plan to spend the day! more

Love this place.. 12/13/2005

This is a great zoo. They have a very good collection of animals and the exhibits have been set up very well. Kids and adults both can enjoy this place and you can spend a day easily in here. The polar bear exhibit, tropical discovery are worth mentioning. They also have shows at specific times. Overall it’s a fun and educational place to visit. more

Denver Zoo 11/27/2005

I love going to the Denver zoo at least a few times a year. It is open all year round including Christmas. The zoo sits on 80 acres and home to 4,000 different animals. I recommend going different times of year to see animals in different times of the season. The admission is fair but you can spend anywhere from 2 hours to all day at the zoo so its worth it.. The gift shops are a nice place to shop at with a variety of gifts for all ages..Nice little places to get food or something sweet to eat on. If you don't feel like walking they also have a gas powered zoo train to take you around for a little tour. One thing that I do not like about this is they dont usually have enough parking and u have to drive around awhile to get a parking place. more

Great zoo!! 11/17/2005

I love the Denver Zoo!! So many animals in great habitats and there’s always something new every time you go!! The lions have a wonderful new exhibit that you can really see them up close. The wide open savannah and the large variety of African animals were amazing. The Primate Panorama and the tropical discovery are fun places to see. The polar bear exhibit here is really great!! You can see them from both above and below the water. It’s always fun to see them play! The gift shop is stuffed with lots of stuff. You can get nice gifts here. more

Fun Family Outing 11/11/2005

The Denver Zoo is a fun day out for the family. Over the past couple of years they have been working on new exhibits, habitats and facilities. The improvements have made the Zoo a much more enjoyable experience (previously it was rather shabby). Besides the fun new exhibits there is a lot of interaction with volunteers who happily answer the kids' questions and have displays that teach about wildlife. There is still some work to be done as several of the habitats are still very outdated and unattractive. There are a couple of restaurants and souvenir shops. The food is great but very pricey. Admission is reasonable and locals might find it worth buying a family pass. Parking has been greatly improved by the addition of a parking garage which is well lit and fairly easy to navigate. more

Great for the Kids 11/7/2005

The Denver Zoo has some of the best exhibits I have ever seen. The Polar Bear exhibit is amazing, you can see the bears from above on land sunbathing and you can also go down below when they get in the water and look through the glass at them swimming. It is so much fun to see them play! The lions are also a must see exhibit as they have redone that recently to make it look more like the desert. There are many animals that have pens that are glass all the way down to the sidewalk so little kids can easily see the animals. The price isn't too high either. There is also a train that you can take all around the zoo for an additional fee which is great if your kids can't or won't walk the whole way. more
