This is a good place to learn about some art. It's large, with seven floors of things. However, most everything is based around ancient and cultural artifacts. The moving shows that are brought in are sometimes worth going to, but also usually older pieces of art.

This is a good family amusement park. It is somewhat small compared to most Six Flags theme parks, and needs more rides. The shows are good, but aren't playing often enough. There is a water park attached to the gardens which is also fairly good, but could be larger.

This is a great place to see what Colorado used to be. Its a lot of fun for the kids to see covered wagons, Indian artifacts, historic documents and lots of old photographs. A great learning experience that’s disguised as fun. The price is really inexpensive and kids under 12 get in free on Saturdays. Its located on broadway in downtown right near the Denver Library, the Art Museum and the Capital Building.

You would think this flagship store located on the 16th Street mall would be expensive, but I've purchased shoes there and spent just as much and less than what I would have paid at another popular sports store in town.
When I went there to buy hiking shoes, I had no idea what would work best. The relaxed and non-pushy salesperson immediately suggested a shoe that I didn't find very attractive. But when it comes to being in the wild, attractiveness doesn't matter. These shoes are great! I still have them today, and I remember the long hike I took when I first wore them - no blisters, no pain... the salesperson was right on.

This bookstore is designed for wandering, browsing and buying. There are little nooks for curling up with a good book. The bookstore also hosts many famous authors for book signings often. They also host children's events. It's a great place to take your family to encourage the love of reading. Definitely a place to take out of town visitors as well.

The wife and I went here to scope it out as a possible location for our wedding. We didn't end up doing it (it is a bit pricey to rent out an area there) but we had a great time exploring anyway. Mostly I enjoyed hanging out with her, but the orchid tree and the roses were also pretty cool. She liked the indoor tropical area the most and, being a plant nut, had a great time telling me about epiphites and bromiliads and who knows what else. It was a fun time for both of us, and I'd recommend it as a great date destination for any lovebirds... just remember to bring some sunscreen and bottled water, because it does get hot walking around outside and for some reason it was hard for us to locate water. (The little restaurant by Monet's garden gave us a couple dixie cups full, but it wasn't quite enough)

More
The Denver Zoo is a fun day out for the family. Over the past couple of years they have been working on new exhibits, habitats and facilities. The improvements have made the Zoo a much more enjoyable experience (previously it was rather shabby). Besides the fun new exhibits there is a lot of interaction with volunteers who happily answer the kids' questions and have displays that teach about wildlife. There is still some work to be done as several of the habitats are still very outdated and unattractive. There are a couple of restaurants and souvenir shops. The food is great but very pricey. Admission is reasonable and locals might find it worth buying a family pass. Parking has been greatly improved by the addition of a parking garage which is well lit and fairly easy to navigate.
