Dahlia Lounge for Lunch (and Dinner)! 9/7/2006

I first enjoyed Tom Douglas' handiwork at the old Cafe Sport (Now Etta's Seafood, owned by Tom) in the Pike Place Market in the mid-1980s. My wife and I have eaten at Dahlia Lounge regularly since it opened, and when I have a lunch meeting in Seattle I invariable choose Dahlia Lounge. The decor is dark and redolent in mosaic Dahlia's, which inspired me to plant dahlias in my garden! I have my favorite table, the food is always marvelous, and Colleen and R.E. take great care of me. When we make it in to Seattle for Dinner, R.E.'s wine list is perfect! more

Very Nice Pacific Northwest Dinner 7/2/2006

Amy and I go out to a nice dinner on the first day of every month (we call it "Life Dinner"). We had a very nice time at Dahlia Lounge last night. The setting was calm, quiet, and relaxing. Our waiter was superb - very friendly, fun, but non-obtrusive. We started out with the fish app sampler - delicious - and ended up getting another order of the salmon. I had a vegetable samosa and then the tofu and veggies for dinner; Amy had crab cakes. Very enjoyable, tasty, and a good choice for a casual romantic dinner. more

Dahlia for Lunch While On the Dole is Perfect 5/30/2006

Dahlia Lounge is a great place to take a business associate, client, or partner for lunch. It's classy, the food is excellent, the service attentive, and best of all you can ignore the fancy-dancin' prices that you'd otherwise have to fork over from your own wallet. I went there last week and had the crab-cakes, which were delicious. They price them as $15/one or $25/two which I thought was overpriced until I remembered, yup, it's a business lunch. They had a great chowder soup which was also yummy. For desert I had the cocunut cream pie which I shouldn't have done at 1pm with an afternoon of work ahead of me, but I highly recommend that as well. This restaurant gets a lot of press and is widely reviewed, and really you can't go wrong here. If you're a foodie in Seattle, you really must go to Dahlia, it's "on the list". If you want to impress a work associate and take them somewhere nice, this is a perfect place. more

Oh my gosh, so wonderful! 5/24/2006

My husband and I had dinner at the Dahlia Lounge on Judy's Book (I won a promotion!). It was one of the best meals I've had in Seattle. It was such a great decision! For our appetizer we had the shrimp potstickers, which were incredible. If only there would have been twice as many, we wouldn't have had to fight over the last one. For the main course I ordered the Halibut (best I've ever had, ever) and my husband had the big old steak. We were both super impressed. The only thing was that the portions were very small, but I sort of expected that. Then comes the best part: dessert. We had the devil's food cake with homemade ice cream. We decided to share it, and my oh my was that a mistake. We were viciously clawing at the plate after the first bite. It was INCREDIBLE. The waitress actually laughed when she came back and the plate was absolutely clean. We couldn't get enough. All in all, this was a wonderful dining experience. I hope to go back soon! more

All are good, but Dahlia Lounge is my favorite 4/13/2006

All of the TD restaraunts are very, very good. Maybe it's the atmosphere, but I love the Dahlia Lounge best of all. Or maybe it's the Coconut Cream Pie and other amazing desserts. Either way, you will not regret a visit to the Dahlia Lounge. more

Great service and atmosphere, decent food 4/5/2006

I really enjoyed our time at the Dahlia Lounge - but mostly because of the excellent service and romantic atmosphere. I wasn't real impressed with the food. I love Tom Douglas' food normally, and clearly Dahlia uses quality products in their dishes. But overall, the flavors were mediocre and safe. Overall, it was a good experience, but I would rather go to Lola's to experience Tom Douglas' cuisine. more

Dahlia Lounge, an old favorite! 3/13/2006

Dahlia is always a favorite of ours. If your family likes a really special dinner out, there is always the Georgian Room or Sorrento. If they like ethnic there is the I.D. If it's brunch you're after, there's always Coastal Kitchen. If they are from "inland" perhaps taking a ferry to Bainbridge for the day is in order. I haven't had lunch on Bainbridge lately, but I bet someone could make a reco... more

Great spot 1/20/2006

Tom Douglas is great. His kids used to go to our school, so I guess I'm biased. Folks rave about the desserts, but to me the real treat besides the great food is the private room they have in the back and the incredible red color of the decor. Never had a bad meal there. It is an inventive northwest style that uses the freshest and most interesting ingredients. His cookbook by the way is just awesome! more

Inventive Food, Great Service 12/26/2005

You'd better make a reservation before heading there. We loved the food we ordered and especially the dessert, coconut cream pie. The drinks we ordered were soso, nothing special. The place was well decorated and romantic, maybe a good place for anniversary or something special. A little bit of pricey though. more

Tom Douglas what can you say 8/20/2005

I have eaten at the dahlia lounge a couple times and always come away impressed. I put the cuisine as eclectic, because they have a little bit of everything. This is a Tom Douglas restaurant and the food is awesome. The ambiance is low lighting, which kinda makes it romantic. But what my wife and I really love at the Dahlia Lounge is the desserts. We always save room for desserts, because the desserts at the Dahlia Lounge are incredible. Every time, we go we get the fresh donuts, yum, I am getting hungary just thinking of them. If you go save room for the Donuts, just like homer simpson would! more

Dependably Good 8/15/2005

While not my favorite Tom Douglas restarurant (that would be the quirkier Palace Kitchen), Dahlia Lounge is dependable and consistently good, particularly since it moved into its beautiful and more luxurious space a couple years ago. One of Seattle's 10 best every year, it's creative enough and the food is high-quality enough for a celebration dinner or a special occasion. Great for out of town guests, too. more
