Kind of fun... 4/21/2006

Yes, this place is teeming with tourists in the summer months - you can't really blame them; it's right THERE in front of them in the heart of the waterfront and the smell from the street is yummy. They specialize in "pots" where all kinds of different seafood is cooked together (you have several choices) and then dumped in the middle of the table where you dive in with mallets and plenty of napkins. (This style of cooking/eating is actually a New England thing, but who's keeping track?) The food all ends up tasting the same and is just mediocre. The service is slow, especially in the summer and the wait to get in can be brutal. However, the views are nice and the breeze off the water in August can be just perfect. more

On our honeymoon, my wonderful husband took me to The Crab Pot for dinner, even tough he HATES seafood and I LOVE it. We had heard that this place was the "bomb" so we decided to give it a try. Well, it wasn't all that great. All the food tasted exactly the same and the wait for a table was horredous. The service was just average and the prices WAY high! They really stick it to the tourists! UGH! more

Mallet Please 3/29/2006

Okay, it sounds cheezy, but I do like going to the Crab Pot. Yes, there are tourists around and sometimes the service takes a while. And yes, my food comes thrown together in a bowl, and then its dumped on the table. BUT there is something so satisfying about being able to whack my meal. Angry at someone, take it out on the crab, or lobster, or both. Whatever you want. I agree it's not the most tastiest meal, but it's pretty decent and you get a mallet. Come on, try it. On a side note, the crab pot also offers more traditional fare that does not require the use of blunt objects. more

Overpriced tourist trap! 12/7/2005

The food is overpriced, overcooked and bland. I think tourists go here because it's so obvious and they don't know any better. If you do a little research you'll find that there are so many other Seattle restaurants that serve truly wonderful seafood that is fresh and prepared much better. If you want great seafood, go to a restaurant that prepares great food! It does not have to have the name of a fish, shellfish or pier in the restaurant name. more

Fantastic, wood smoked fish and chips 8/20/2005

This little gem rises above the other tourist traps on the waterfront, and distinguishes itself with high quality fare. The alder smoked salmon and halibut is outstanding, and the chips are like none other I have ever seen. They take full potatoes, slice them lengthwise, and fry them up. They are worth a trip down to the pier alone! Score a table outside on the pier if the weather is right, and enjoy some tasty food in a fabulous setting. more

Great fresh seafood! 7/12/2005

Ive eaten here twice and both times it took an eternity to get in! That will be one of the Cons! The seafood is good on its own, nothing fancy, but just great seafood. Due to the location, right on pier 57, it tends to pack in the tourists, not that that is a bad thing. The food is always great but I dont know if its worth the wait. Im personally not crazy about the location, even though its on the waterfront its in the heart of tourism/trinketshops. I cant handle those types of places (unless im the tourist that is!) The greatest item on the menu is the Crab Pot. Imagine that! more
