Wow! What a find! 2/17/2005

Last night we were a an event for the Asian Art. It was getting late an we had yet to eat. We were pointed in the directions of Soluna Cafe. What a great little resturant. First off we were sat right away by the host who gave us the specials and got our drink order. The service was great we wanted for nothing the whole evening. Than the food came the Crab Salad was unreal, and the chicken with beets, polenta, and vanillia thyme sauce was out of this world. I swear if I knew how to make that sauce I would............I highly recommended soluna. Oh than we danced salsa it's a lounge to. It has it all! Pros: food, lounge, inexpenisive more

FOOD 1/18/2005

While visiting SF, we found this great little resturant. We were staying at the Hyatt. The Food was out of world and ten times better than the Hyatt. Pros: FOOD, BAR, ATMOSPHERE more

Recently had a birthday party with 20... 1/6/2005

And we all had a great time. Dean, the manager I worked with, was very helpful in arranging seating for our large group and the service was as quite good, considering the small staff and the size of our group. My expectations for the food were modest, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the good flavor and reasonable prices. Soluna has a prix fixe dinner that's an excellent deal - any appetizer/salad, any main course (the chicken, fish, and pasta all got good marks), plus a choice of desserts (the chocolate dish, whatever it was, was absolutely *awesome* -- everyone raved how rich and delicious it was) for around $25, if memory serves. The music was reasonably low to allow for good conversation and after dinner, the place was absolutely jumping. Highly recommended! Last thing: Eat there to avoid the cover charge later. Pros: Great food, Great music, Very easy parking more

Seared Ahi: YUMMY!!! 11/18/2004

I've been to Soluna several times to hear music and dance. We always have a fabulous time. The "Feel Good" djs and the "Relevant Sound" djs are ridiculously good. I ate there for the first time last week. Supurb!!! The seared ahi was so delicious that we ordered it twice! It's to die for. The ciopinno was great too. Do not pass go...go straight to Soluna! Pros: Pretty, Yummy, Friendly more

definitely recommended! 11/15/2004

My boyfriend and I ate at Soluna this past Thursday and loved it . . . the ambience and service was excellent, the food was devine, and the prices reasonable. I had the Chanterelle Mushroom Pasta and he had the Sea Bass - yum! We're looking forward to our next visit. Pros: great food, cool ambience, relaxed more

Soluna ROCKS 10/5/2004

Great place, sexy interior. Good music and a fun selection of drinks. Whether you just want to quench your thirst or eat and drink, this is THE destination. And Dean is a dj to appreciate (sexy smile at that!). So stop on by, gay/straight/boy/girl--you'll all have a good time. Pros: Good crowd, immaculate setting, way cute staff more

Food is good, service is slow 9/25/2004

I liked the food, but service was so slow although our waiter was nice. They should hire at least 1 more wait person. It's fun atmosphere but wasn't too loud to have dinner & conversation with friends. I will go back there. Ah, their mojito was good. Pros: food, location Cons: , little over priced more

a great experience 7/18/2004

We arrived on Saturday night, 7/17/04, around 8:30p. It was pretty crowded, and a DJ was spinning cool music. Overall, everything we ordered was excellent, but our favorites were the ahi tuna with soy wasabi creme and the sirloin steak with bleu cheese mashed potatos. Service was friendly and professional. I look forward to my next visit! Pros: atmosphere, food, service more

Highly Recommend 5/22/2004

Last night my boyfriend and I treated ourselves to a night out to dinner. We chose Soluna because of what great things that we have heard and were pleased to find why it came so highly recommended. The sea bass with pickled ginger was especially tasty! The waitstaff was exceptionally friendly and knowldegable about the cuisine and the in house dj was really great too! more

Excellent food and atmosphere 5/20/2004

My last two nights at Soluna have been great. The food was delicious. I strongly recommend the sweet and spicy prawns as well as the seared ahi appetizers. A great laid back place for just drinks as well. I will definitely be back again. Pros: atmosphere more

An awesome place to celebrate! 3/7/2004

I just planned a large dinner for my husband's birthday. The entire staff was so friendly and exteremely accomdating to us. The prices are so reasonable that we were pleasnetly surprised to see how affordable our bill was. The DJ that night was awesome (hip-hop and dancehall). The entire crowd had an awesome vibe and made the night one of the best party nights that we have had! Pros: Inexpensive, Great service! more

Soluna Gets an A+ 2/22/2004

We took a large group for a birthday party and I would have a hard time remembering a restaurant that provided a better experience for the money. The food was excellently prepared and a great value for the large portions. The service was extremely friendly and very flexible with the needs of our large group. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was very festive. A great time was had by all. I would highly recommend this restaurant for large groups and will also be going back myself to try other items on their menu! Great food, great service and a great value! Pros: Service, Value, Excellent Food more

delicious! 1/1/2004

I took my girlfriend here for dinner recently, and we were impressed. The interior was warm and comfortable, the food was tasty, and service was relaxed. We had the avocodo-mango salad, the spicy sesame prawns, the sea bass and the sirloin steak all were excellent, although I thought the salad could have used a bit more dressing. We are looking forward to our next meal here! Pros: cool location, easy parking, excellent food more

A Great Find 10/14/2003

I almost feel guilty bragging about this place, because I do not want it to become overcrowded, but it was excellent! We had a great dinner for a very low price (check out their price fix!). Then, at 10pm, the DJs kicked in. We stayed and danced till 2am! Sweet deal! Pros: inexpensive, cool location, easy parking more

Sensual Dining 10/13/2003

During the day can be hectic as the local politicos vie for an excellent space for quick, great food. I tend to eat here in the evenings when it is more mellow before the clubers take over. The food matches with the decor, designed for a sensuous, pleasurable experience. The wait staff are always connecting and yet professional. The wine selection is excellent. Pros: Food, Wine, Parking more

Civic Center Gem 10/12/2003

  • Arabesque light fixtures, drapery and plush red banquettes give this resto-lounge a vaguely Turkish vibe, although the food and crowd are firmly San Franciscan. Filled with City Hall politicos, lawyers and other well-dressed Civic Center workers at lunch and happy hour, soluna gets the pre-theater crowd for dinner, and winds down quickly after. Under new management the menu is full of hit-the-spot, California comfort food--truffle-garlic fries, crab BLT, country fried Petaluma chicken--at reasonable prices, especially during lunch.
