amazing breakfast! 6/23/2008

Everything on the menu is delicious! i drove by this place too many times before i finally decided to eat here and now seem to go every other weekend. All the egg scrambles are good, keep an eye out for the days special. I absolutely love their french toast croissant with fresh strawberries. Usually i go with my sister so she'll order the egg dish and i'll order the french toast and we split it. Heads up, the wait during weekends can be 20+ minutes but the food is definately worth the wait. The waitstaff is also really friendly. Pros: French toast, friendly waitstaff Cons: street parking, sometimes long wait during weekend breakfast hours more

Breakfast is good 7/21/2006

a great neighborhood restaurant for breakfast. Pros: Great breakfast Cons: Wait in line to get your seat more

my favorite brunch place in sf! 2/28/2006

Great food, my favorite is the bacon and egg scrambled eggs. Always friendly wait staff and excellent coffee. I love this place and have never been disappointed there. Often long lines. more

Good, cute place to have breakfast 1/5/2006

I've seen the review from others complain about the line and the service. I went there on a week day about noon time, there was still a wait list. Their service is not as bad as other review complains. Iin fact, I think the service is fairly good. But it doesn't feel good to be on the wait list, especially for breakfast. The most important thing is, food is decent! The banana walnut pancake taste like a home made, the scramble egg taste right, not too oily, not too dry. Their fruit is fresh and sweet. The atmosphere is cute and cozy. The neighborhood is not too crowdy and nice. I have to go back there for the breakfast! Pros: breakfast, food Cons: waitlist more

Rude service 12/16/2005

It's very hard to get attention or get seated at this restaurant. I've tried it several times just to make sure, but there are precious few friendly staff. They rush you in and out and are often outright rude. Prepare to wait for an hour or so on weekends. more

The best brunch in San Francisco 7/26/2005

Whenever I have visitors to the city, I always take them to Choloes for bruch. Everybody loves it, the eggs, the pancakes, the salads, sandwiches, you cant wrong. The people are nice, the food is wonderful and I always look forward to a great meal when I go. Pros: Great food, Nice people, Again, great food! Cons: Busy on weekends, Cash only, There is only one more

Words cannot describe... 6/21/2005

...how delicious the food is here. You will ooh and ahh over just about everything, including the red potato, onion & cheddar scramble and the out of this world cinnamon croissant french toast. While you almost always have to wait 30-60 mins for a table, it's truly worth every second and the wait staff runs the place like a well-oiled machine. Pros: amazing food, outdoor seating, efficient staff Cons: long wait for a table more

User review by slipera 5/21/2005

My favorite breakfast/brunch spot in the city. I've always wondered how hard it is to prepare eggs, that is until I go somewhere other than Chloe's. The eggs there are the tastiest anywhere. The pancakes are great, too. Pros: great neighborhood, great food, great menu Cons: long waits, service inconsistent more

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! 1/30/2005

I went with three other people. We ordered, but when our food came, only three of us were served. We were told the missing eggs and pancakes would be right out. After almost 20 minutes, the eggs made their appearance. My friend completely finished the eggs before the pancakes came, by which time the rest of us were finished eating. We finally all finished, had just paid the bill and our waiter came up and said, ""Could you please clear the table? Other people are waiting"". CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!! We thought he was coming over to apologize, which nobody ever did, instead we were kicked out. The reason we took so long is because of poor service! Pros: decent food Cons: BAD SERVICE, RUDE WAIT STAFF more

The accolades are well earned! 7/17/2004

We went to this quaint little cafe after reading rave reviews in Citysearch, and are very glad that we tried it out. The trout sandwich was great, as were the 'potato, cheese and onion scramble' (the accompanying whole wheat walnut bread and home fries are fantastic), chicken and vegetable soup, and mimosas. Tab: $29 (excluding tip). Pros: Great food, friendly service more

Best brunch in SF 4/28/2004

This Noe Valley (not Mission/Valencia corridor as one reviewer quite mistakenly noted-what map are they looking at??) institution is the best breakfast in the city. There are fancier ones with more exotic menus (Absinthe or Zuni) but this one is cozy, simple and delicious in all our countless visits. The waits on weekends are the downside but weekdays and early mornings are great. There is no better value for fresh, great food for breakfast in the city. Pros: Food & drinks, Great prices, Cozy more

Is everybody here on a different planet? 8/19/2003

Wow, I suppose that neighborhood (Mission/Valencia ""Corridor"" to types who believe that's a hip name) considers restaurants that RESEAT YOU after BEING SEATED ALREADY on the whim of the staff is an OK standard for 'service'. Ugh. We went on a crowded morning (pick any weekend morning), were put on a list, got called from the list, seated, then subsequently asked to LEAVE our table as the 'name before us' hadn't heard her name being read, so THEY were seated instead. Huh? How does THAT logic work? Anyway, after a 45 minute wait, we were famished anyhoo, so stayed for the food against my better judgment. The food was good, but then again, I was VERY hungry at that point, so a PB&J sandwich would have sufficed. There are PLENTY of other yummy brunch places to go, so save your time, money, and frustration- steer clear of this joint!!!! Pros: Food Cons: Crowded, Bad Parking, BigPrice, Bad Service, Small more

Absolutely the best breakfast 6/7/2003

If you look over the ratings you'll see that Chloe's has received 5-6 10s and then 2 1's. That's absolutely ridiculous. This is probably the best breakfast I have ever had. Their eggs are delicious and creative (red onion, feta cheese and potatoes are my favorite) and their pancakes are fluffy yet hearty. To those naysayers who gave it a 1 I ask ... why did you keep coming back here? The only downside is that Chloe's gets crowded on the weekends but really, it's worth it. Pros: Great Food, Good Value Cons: Crowded more

Pancakes from Heaven 1/9/2003

I've been a fan of Chloe's for years, and their breakfast is the best. Yes, the menu's short (their kitchen is tiny), and you can only get eggs scrambled, but the banana-walnut pancakes are simple some of the best around. Combine that with great coffee, fresh, top-quality ingredients and fine service what more do you need in a tiny neighborhood joint? I wish they were still around the corner from me Pros: Pancakes Cons: Crowded more

Dreary Menu 1/5/2003

I used to live up the street and every time we'd try Chloe's I'd read and read and read the menu hunting for something unique or even really good. The worst salads! Totally un imaginative. Egg dishes are boring - you should eat at home. I once ordered a smoked salmon plate - even that wasn't good. Very boring, no thought goes into their food. I cannot understand why its still around after many mediocre years. Cons: nothing special, not creative, no flavor more

chloes choice 12/1/2002

best place in the city for breakfast. the pancakes are the best outside of amsterdam and the egg scramble is delicious. be prepared to wait about 30minutes for a table, but you can register your name and grab a cup of coffee from marthas down the street to kill time. Pros: food, service Cons: wait more

Cozy 11/9/2002

Lovely place, great food, excellent service, but long lines. It is a very small restaurant. If at all possible, go here on a weekday and even then you will probably have to wait. more

Nothing is real stand out 11/7/2002

I look at the menu, I keep trying to find something really wonderful but end up with something middle of the road. I truly do not understand this place. I've come here on and off since around 1992 and I just don't get it. Its not very good or very fresh or very good. Cons: boring more

can't cook eggs 9/25/2002

i don't understand chloe's - its good and all, but its not all that - wassup with limiting the ways you can get your eggs? chloe's will not do sunny side up or over easy eggs - perhaps its due to small quarters and specializing in certain things - but it ain't breakfast unless the yolk is runny. they do have good omelettes though. if you want more, go next door to fattoush - you don't have to wait as long, you can sit outside in a lovely garden setting and you can have your eggs anyway you like them. more

SF's Best French Toast!!! 9/24/2002

Chloe's is one of SF's best breakfast places. There's always a great selection of omelettes, scrambles pancakes, and specials. But its their French Toast that is truly addictive. more
