Best

Hands down best Indian food in Seattle is Cedars on Brooklyn Restaurant. It is crowded ('cause we love it), but the servers don't smash into you either. Long wait times are made ...

Don't listen to the Naysayers 12/11/2003

This is perhapse, my favorite restaurant in Seattle. Every time I go I feel like I'm being treated like family by the Owner and his staff. Lines for seating can get long, but the Owner goes out of his way to treat you well, so long as you treat him and his staff well. I can guarantee, if you understand Hospitality and do not try and take advantage of it, this place will treat you like a king in their own house. The food is excellent, expecially the Mango Curries, as well as the Tikka Massalla. The Chai is wonderful, and the never ending cup will keep you awake all night. They do get busy so be politie, and understand they have 20 people waiting for your table, and the staff will bend over backwards for you. more

Worst service ever 11/9/2003

""I ate at Cedars for the 3rd time last night and never truly noticed how the (browbeaten?) and grossly overstaffed (3-4 per table) waitstaff hovers. At first it seems like they are just efficient, but then it starts to feel harrassing. When one of the bussers started to wipe down our table WHILE we were still sitting at it, waiting for our bill, that was it for me. The food is very good, but to enjoy this place I would suggest you eat like you're in a BIG HURRY and don't expect warmth."" The management is very rude. I was so embarssed by this manager in front of my clients...I will NEVER EVER go to eat at this restuarant or even recommend friends. Even we were still eating they (the busers) strated cleaning, taking away plates, etc.. this mangement needs to go back and learn how to serve customers. more

Wonderful 8/14/2003

Excellent Indian and Greek cuisine. Good variety and great deseerts. There is also and small deli section with all kinds of spices and teas for those who want to ""roll their own"". Reasonablly priced. Pros: Flavor, Variety, Desserts Cons: Parking more

Excellent Food! Good Service 7/4/2003

The food was excellent. Specially the Chicken Tikka and the Naan. I have eaten in many Indian Restaurants including Kaniska, Bucchara, Mayuri, Regal but the food here was many times more tastier than any other place. The only other restaurant that comes close to Cedars is the Bucchara in Issaquah. The Service was also good. But at times I found that they were in a hurry. But overall it is one of the best places to go for Indian food. more

I love this place 6/26/2003

I was so suprised to read negative reviews about the service at Cedars Restaurant. I have been there a few times and have always had great service. I was particularly impressed with the service during my last visit. We were greeted and seated immediately, our server(s) were polite and friendly, and our drinks were always full. When I asked one staff member a question she couldn't answer, she immediately sent a server to the table who could answer the question. I swear, every staff member working smiled and thanked us on the way out. The food, as usual, was delicious. I was particularly impressed with the Chai, and suprised that they continued to refill my mug during the entire meal. I have never had free refills on this drink at other restaurants. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for Indian food. I haven't tried the anything mediterranean. Pros: Free Parking, Friendly Staff, Great Food Cons: Occasional Wait more

Medicore Food and Experience 4/21/2003

The Good (appetizers): The vegetable delite appetizer (samosa, pakora & deep fried paneer) was quite good as was the naan (large pieces baked just right in the tandoor over) The Not So Good (the main entrees) The Chicken tikka was dissapointing-chewy chicken that lacked flavor. The pallak paneer (spinach with cheese) was dripping in butter to the point it was hard to eat/digest. Overall, Cedars is a medicore indian dining experience (both in terms of food and overall service). We're still on the hunt for ""good indian"" in Seattle and will try other places over the coming months. By far THE BEST indian food in the Northwest is in Vancouver (larger Indian population to support and keep the restauranteurs honest about their offering). In particular, ""Maurya"" on West Broadway is excuisite. Pros: Lots of food variety, Lots of staff Cons: Mediocore food, Lots of staff more

Fabulous 2/17/2003

This is the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. People should really stop b*tching about the service because at some places you can't even get people to help you. And a note about the hostess, she may not always be the most friendly, but she is efficient and a really hard worker. I have got to know her because I go there so often and she is such a nice person. Definitely go to this restaurant, it's amazing. (please ignore the review on the other Cedar's, I was mistaken) Pros: FOOD, SERVICE Cons: Wait more

This is the place! 11/3/2002

I was there yesterday, a Saturday night and I can't begin to get over the place. It was the most happening place in the U-district. First there were lines out the door, that alone should tell you how good the food is, second.. when we did get seated.. we were treated like kings. We got water the second we sat down... but most importantly..the FOOD WAS THE BEST. i go to many indian restaurants.. but Cedars did it. Good... job keep the good food rolling. more

please get extra room! 10/14/2002

We went there last night... the food was great, but the seating area was so tiny. Those guys need to expand. I would definitely come back there... maybe when it's sunny and you can sit outside :) more

So rude.... 10/13/2002

The owner and owner's daughter are some of the rudest people I have ever encountered, and later learned that I am not the only person who has had such an experience there. While the rest of the staff was polite, if you like being treated like a human being, I do not suggest going there. Pros: tasty Cons: rude management, crowded more

Pathetic service & bad treatment 9/30/2002

People in there treat the customers very badly. The management does not even talk politely to people. We sat on a table outside and did not like it. Within a second of being there we asked for a table change and the service staff gave us such starring looks as if ""how dare you...ask for a table change"" The owner even came and rudely told us about it, which was hiegth of impoliteness. I will never go there again. I dine out to feel good and pampered not be be starred at ... Cons: rude staff, expensive food more

The Best! 8/5/2002

Cedars is the best. There is always someone waiting to serve you. The owner recognizes repeat customers. I feel as if I am royalty when I go there! A big hint: Make reservations and still arrive early! This place is busy and you can still expect to wait!!! I have gone there with out a reservation and waited an hour. It is always worth the wait. Parking is kind of a challenge. When Burger King was open they had more parking available than Cedars. Pros: Variaty, Service, Chai! Cons: Wait, Parking more

Great food and not ALWAYS mean service! 7/14/2002

Been here twice now, had the same dish. I liked the chicken coconut curry. Very consistent, and pretty good. The service is quite attentive; I dare you to make it to the bottom of your glass before it's refilled. People swear that you are hustled away from the table when the meal is over. Not so for our party (of 5); we were offered extra Chai twice after the table was cleared. It was not the busiest of nights, though. I believe Cedars is trying to repair its damaged reputation...this place IS worth your time. Especially if you like mangos...mangos are pervasive on the menu. more

Best Indian food in town 6/23/2002

Cedars serves the best Indian food in town - hands down. People who complained about the service and the owner are probably justified from their point of view but they are applying western sensibilities to an INDIAN place. It is TYPICAL in the Indian subcontinent to expect customers to leave quickly after dinner and to order employees around. I found the owner to be a gracious man. For the prices and quality of food, the service is excellent. Pros: Best Indian food, Cheap, Prompt Cons: Crowded, Hurried more
