From fancy breakfast foods, to soups & salads, to pastas and even more intricate dishes, the menu at Minnie's is definitely varied. I've only had breakfast food items (yum!), toma...

The food here really isn't any better than what you would get for free at a cheap hotel. They have some coffee, chich isn't bad. They have a small menu with a variety of choices. ...

Tomato soup worth the trip 6/12/2006

I've both stumbled into Minnies in the after hours and walked in during dinner time with the intention of eating a bowl of their delicious tomato basil soup. It has the perfect ratio of chunks of tomato and smooth creamy soup and comes with a lattice of parmasean melting over the top. Last time I was there it was served with a warm white roll. The people watching in Cafe Minnies can be pretty interesting too, especially later in the night. My experience has been that there are times when the crowd appears to come dominantly from one fashon persuasion or another, but I've never felt out of place or strange about not adhearing to the same. more

Decent breakfasts, open 24 hours 10/3/2005

One of the few places that is open 24 hours, Cafe Minnie's is a diner with good quality food. The shabby dining room sure could use a remodel, but perhaps that is part of the charm. The staff generally wears black and is adorned with piercings and tattoos, but is non-threatening. I've only had their breakfasts and have never been disappointed. Their home fries are seasoned with rosemary, which I think is a little too strong for breakfast time. Overall, the food here is certainly a notch above Denny's. Cafe Minnie's is located very close to downtown, so be prepared to hunt for parking. more

Interesting eating, interesting people 8/31/2005

Beware, if you're not of a certain age and a certain black-trenchcoat techno persuasion, you may initially feel a little out of it walking in the door of Minnie's, but really all are welcome. And they have some surpirsingly good food. Hamburgers, sandwiches, and breakfast anytime are the dominant specialties. But each of these has an upscale "twist" that makes it a little more special than the usual fare of its type. more

All night dining without the bad, greasy food 8/16/2005

Though if you want bad greasy food I am sure it exists somewhere on the menu. Minne's is off putting to some with its rundown ambiance. My friends and family members who are not familiar with Minne's are always surprised when they taste the food and realize that it tastes darn good. In my opinion this is a great place to go for a hangover brunch or a late night snack. The tomato basil soup is something I often go out of my way to obtain. The breakfast omelette's are cooked correctly and they also serve dutch babies. Give Minne's a try. more

24 Hour last resort 8/3/2005

The food here really isn't any better than what you would get for free at a cheap hotel. They have some coffee, chich isn't bad. They have a small menu with a variety of choices. I don't know why this restaurant is so famous, everyone knows about it, but only few go there. It's alright if you don't have another choice, but it sure isn't great. The service is fine, but nothing about this place stands out except that sometimes it's the only thing everyone can agree to. Innocuous but a little gross at times. more

Slightly above average diner. 7/13/2005

Great for late night diners and right in the heart of downtown. While I hate to use the comparison, this place kind of reminded me of a darker version of Dennys. The service has always been horrible when we have gone and for that reason Id look elsewhere. But if you have a choice between here and Dennys I might choose Cafe Minnies for the night birds vs the old folks. more
