Horrible experiance 10/5/2007

They sat us in the bar area and we had to moved after sitting there for TEN minutes because our son was this us. We had to order our beverages three times and when they FINALLY arrived(after 30 minutes) they were in-correct. My Husband's food came out cold. It took us over an hour and a half to dine here. We didn't have a waiter and then person who sat us down was under 15 years old. BAD service and BAD customer service. We would NEVER go here again. Pros: none Cons: please see my review, EVERYTHING more

great food in an unclean environment 7/14/2007

My husband and I are from Portland and ventured up to the fair city of Seattle. Every time we are here we never have time to explore outside downtown. The opportunity finally arrived and we stayed in Belltown, and wanted to check out the Queen Anne district. We asked around for good breakfast joints, and one mentioned was Minnie's. We took the trek by foot and finally arrived to the restaurant, our gullets rumbling at this point. Let me get the negative first. If I would have walked into the bathroom before we had eaten, I would have run out screaming. It was pretty obvious what activity the person before me had done, and for an added touch the bowl was accessorized with a couple of flies. Great "local artwork" on the walls, I am always intrigued by people's handwriting and the great quotes! Oh yeah, they serve food. My husband had a frittata with a side of rosemary potatoes and a scone. I had the croissant french toast with a lemon cream batter. We have to say the food was pretty damn good! The server was really nice and attentive to filling our cups to the rim with our beverages, when needed. They are suffering an identity crisis, the music bouncing from Tool to Pearl Jam to eighties tunes. Trying to hard to be grunge or post punk or ? more

Cafe Minnie's.....Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else 4/15/2007

1 out of 5 stars!! I have been a loyal Minnie's customer for over 15 years, but it seems it has been going downhill and it's almost at the bottom!! I went there twice in the last 2 months and sadly it has really turned into a dump...not 'ecclectic' anymore, it's just a disgusting pit of a place with horrid, rude servers and lack-luster seating....The server we had (twice) was one of the nastiest people I have ever met!! The windows were so smeared I couldn't even look out to see the beautiful city....I brought my out of town family there to experience true Seattle and it was embarassing! I had to warn them not to use the filthy, broken-down bathrooms, what kind of a slum-lord is running this place? I do love most of their food, it is their only positive, however my scones this time were not good so maybe that is suffering also....So to sum it up, if you like: Rude servers and dumpy surroundings with your hopefully good meal, choose Minnie's...otherwise I suggest going somewhere else like 13 Coins which also has an ecclectic late night experience, and I can't imagine them ever letting their establishment turning into a filthy, run-down shell of it's former self......very sad :( Pros: Good food, open 24 hours Cons: Rude Staff, filthy broken-down bathrooms, restaurant not clean more

Great Tomatoe Basil! 11/20/2006

From fancy breakfast foods, to soups & salads, to pastas and even more intricate dishes, the menu at Minnie's is definitely varied. I've only had breakfast food items (yum!), tomatoe basil soup (THE best), and sandwiches, mostly because this is more of a late-night eats (24 hours) place, and not a real great restaurant. It's rarely full during regular business hours, but once 2am comes around, be prepared to wait in line. Bathrooms are ick, i'd rather squat outside. Servers are not groomed. The place is like a dungeon. But again, from 2am until 6am, desperate times calls for desperate measures, and when you're just done bar-hopping (which most patrons at that hour are), just about anything tastes yummy. Prices are decent, just don't go in expecting a great meal. Know that you're there because it's desperate times. However, do try the soup! Pros: late night open Cons: dirty, icky, little parking, dirty more

Dirty & Unclean 11/15/2006

We went there on Saturday afternoon and ordered both lunch and breakfast. A friend in our group had a bunch of hair (like 7-8) under his omlette. All of us lost our appetite from that point forward. The bathrooms are a putrid purple, and just flat dirty. I did not want to touch anything in the bathroom, and may have been better off using a honeybucket. The whole place could use a good bleach scrub and some brightening up. Pros: menu choices Cons: Dirty, Dirty, Dirty more

Late Night Fix 10/16/2006

I was craving pie on Bainbridge Island one night, and of course, everything there closes by 10. So a friend and I made the trek to Seattle and Minnies all-hours funkster waitress happily served us super-rich pie. Not so gourmet, but definitely good for a midnight craving. more

Best Tomato-Basil Soup EVER. If your expecting fine dining, then you need to get back into your SUV and go back to Bellevue. This place is Seattle all the way. Everyone I have brought here(my punk friends, politicos, high schoolers and hippies) all LOVE it. Is the service quick....No. Cuz that's what Dicks is for(duh). EAT THE SOUP!!! Pros: Tomato-Basil Soup! Potatos Cons: Some of the drunk posers that come in at 2am and act like jerks.... more

Caffe Minnie's a must! 6/22/2004

I have a wonderful experience at this one-of-a-kind diner. The menu is creative and full of choices to fit one's mood at any time of day; the service was swift, friendly, and unobtrusive. If you are looking for a great place to eat, clean, and smoke-free this is the place. You have to make sure you aren't in a hurry, and you take everything tongue-in-cheek, you will love this place. In-fact, this place screams Seattle so much you hope that all diners where like this! Pros: clean, Smokefree, friendly more

If you are looking for a great place to eat, super clean and smoke-free, don't go to Minnies. This place is not great for those reasons, but if you want a great old-fashioned greasy breakfast, good burgers, or a place to go at 3:00 AM, there isnt a better place. You have to make sure you aren't in a hurry, and you take everything tongue-in-cheek, you will love this place. In-fact, this place screams Seattle! more

I've been to Minnie's many, many times. Each time I tell myself that I'm never going to let friends talk me into going there ever again. The wait staff is surly, the food substandard, the service beyond slow. Sorry to those of you who like the place, but Minnie's never fails to disappoint me. Until the day I go and am surprised by good food and service, I'll keep saying "never again." Cons: bad food, bad service more

Grunge Diner with Great Food 8/23/2003

evelyn_oyster Provided by Partner
I had a wonderful experience at this one-of-a-kind diner. The menu is creative and full of choices to fit one's mood at any time of day; the service was swift, friendly and inobtrusive; the atmosphere was just what one should expect from an all-night dive in Seattle- grunge music, grunge food and grunge ambience. If you go in expecting anything else, you will be disappointed. I had a simple grilled cheese and the tomato-basil soup, but it hit the spot and was a mere brush with my pocketbook. Advice to the management... be the first to go nouveau-grunge, and clean up your act. Anything short of replacing the carpet would be a waste of money, and take a sandblaster to the rest of the place. Despite that, I will be back! Pros: Variety, Inexpensive, Friendly Cons: Needs a face-lift more

Few Other Options In the Dead of Night 7/8/2003

OK. So the service can be bad sometimes... The soundtrack is good, and I really dig the croissant french toast. Last time I went in, I ordered coffee with cream and never got the cream. I ended up borrowing some from a neighboring table where a couple of other folks were also bitching about the service. Late at night, dining options are few, which can make Minnie's an appealing choice despite it's drawbacks. Pros: Open Late, Good Music Cons: Inconsistent Food, Service is POOPY, Parking can be hard more

HORRIBLE 3/4/2003

lindstreet Provided by Partner
This is by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to. At 10:30 on a Thursday night 3 of us had to wait about 8 minutes to be seated when there were about 7 people in the entire place. We sat in the smoking section and it took so long to get an ash tray that I had to go ask the guy, he got me a bowl. The strange 80's throwback music was way too loud and the waiter was very rude. The experience lasted around an hour and a half until we could finally pay to leave. Cons: Loud, Rude, -cencored- more

Entering Caffe Minnie's with low expectations and empty stomachs, no one anticipated the hours of entertainment provided by the aptly named specials and our jovial waiter (or maybe it is because we are so gosh darn fun ourselves). Literally HOURS. I highly recommend this night spot based on its personable employees and savory twenty-four hour breakfasts. Recommended: The Lana Turner. The Eggs Brando. The cookies n' cream cheesecake. Above all: the "special" orange juice (wink when you order). Love for the Minnie. Pros: Relaxed, Diverse patrons, Good portions Cons: Decor lacking, Greasy, Street parking more
