We found this resutrant by chance in Union Square and loved the food. We were looking for a great sit down breakfast place and this seemed to be the only one as tourists we could...

Worst

The breakfast food was overpriced and boring. Plain wheat sandwich bread for french toast in San Francisco? Was I at Dennys? Service was non-existent despite the cafe being emp...

Whenever we are in this part of the city near Geary we ALWAYS have a meal at Cafe Mason. Their staff is lovely, knowledgeable, and their menu is considerable American fare at excellent prices. Decor is welcoming and comfortable, too! more

Late breakfast was excellent, particularly the crepes. Perfect texture, not soggy, and tasty spinach filling with not too much cheese. Fresh fruit salad included. Comfortable atmosphere and attentive service. more

a friend of mine told me about this place. I thought it was gonna be all hyped up but no. The food is tasty. You will expect to wait for a table but its well worth the wait. \r more

We went for breakfast. We were greeted with a sweet smile and shone to a table. Someone else came along right away and took our drink order. Upon returning with our coffee, our order was taken. I had the eggs benedict, delicious! and my spouse had the cheese blintzes with blueberries. It was very good as well. The waitress was very attentive too. more

We enjoyed a great breakfast in ""The City"" at the Cafe Mason as a finish to our Christmas Day celebration. The food was good and fresh. The waitress was excellent. I've been by this cafe many times without stopping, not any more. more

The menu is so varied it suits everyone's needs or taste, it is less than a 5 minute walk from the Hilton hotel (turn right from the hotel to the corner and then left, you will see it across the street). The wait staff is overly friendly and attentive, quick service and great food! The prices are more than reasonable and the portions do not leave you wanting more.\r We ate here twice for dinner during our stay and the wait staff was from all over the world, Egypt, Russia, Romania it was like a melting pot in that one restaurant and not one of them was actually from San Francisco, it was pretty neat. more

I liked everything about this place - so much that I ate there twice! It is so difficult to travel and find places to eat in with my food allergies. They have an entire menu for people with gluten allergies. The food was just amazing. The service also was awesome. They have an enormous bar if you like to just sit and hang out. We sat by the windows and watched people walk by! great place in a great location! more

My wife and i stayed at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square hotel June 25-30, 2013, because it hosted a conference I attended. We ate breakfast here on June 28 and 30. Great food and service. Curiously on our first visit my pancakes were served undercooked yet when I pointed it out to the server she fixed it immediately with a pleasant attitude. more

We ate two breakfasts and one dinner here, partly because it was only two blocks from our hotel, but also because it was such good food. Portions were generous - even breakfasts. I had pancakes one day and a good-sized omelet the next. My Thai chicken salad was good, and my friend said his Tortellini Mason was to-die-for. The service was a little slow, even though it wasn't real busy the times we were there. But in spite of that, we still returned to eat there again, as it was worth it. more

Had breakfast here and what a treat. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and the atmosphere was buzzing. I had egg whites with chorizo that had a great little snap to it. The nine grain toast was also very good. They really just serve great tasting food. It would be worth returning for lunch or dinner. more

I found this restaurant the last day of my trip close to my hotel. The service was excellent, the food was fresh, and a wonderful value. more

My husband and I discovered this little cafe on the first morning of our stay, and continued to eat there every day till our trip ended. Although we could have breakfasted at The Hilton, we were told that the nearby restaurants were good and we were very pleased that we ventured round the corner to this delightful cafe. Even when they were busy and we had to wait for a table, it was only a 5 minute wait in the seating area at the front of the cafe. Service was excellent and the coffee they served was even better! The menu was varied and each day we ate something different but every meal was very enjoyable and tasty. Freshly squeezed orange juice is a must, and the eggs could not be beaten. Every meal was served hot and fresh, which kept us returning each day to sample their extensive menu. Great food at a very reasonable price! more
