It's good 2/28/2006

This a cool theater to go to if you have plans for after the movie. You'd be pretty close to a lot of things. It's kinda expensive, but it's really nice inside and the screens are huge. Gotta give it up for stocked, always clean bathrooms too. Again, one movie theater is usually the same as another to me, but this one is close to stuff so, yeah its good. more

Good movie theater 2/5/2006

This has got to be the beast theater to see new Hollywood releases at in the area. A clean, well-staffed place, the location is great for some after-movie plans, right near the Philly Diner. A bit overpriced (but what isn't these days) and tickets that sometimes come with assigned seating (what? this is a movie theater, not a stadium), it's all made up for by a nice atmosphere, comfy seats, and big screens. Make this your next place to see a movie. more

Brand New Cinema Comes to West Philly 8/16/2005

The Bridge Cinema recently opened at 40th and Walnut in West Philly. It follows the modern cinema model of bucket seats, brand new screens and sound systems, an attached lounge/bar. However, it also has the new cinema problem of charging $10 for a ticket with no discounts period. The theater shows what you would expect - the top blockbusters at any given time. It also has an astounding number of employees including one stationed outside each theater generally (which perhaps reflects the economic depression in West Philly). Parking is readily available on the street or in the lot across the street at the Fresh Grocer with parking validation available. The bar upstairs attracts Penn students on weekends, ones who have not necessarily also gone to a movie. more

The Bridge: Cinema De Lux 8/15/2005

This movie theater right in university city is a pretty good place to watch a flick. It has stadium seating, is kept clean and is aesthetically pleasing. It also has a small, separate movie lounge where they constantly show miscellaneous movie material. The only drawback with this theater is that you have to request and sit according to your section/seat number. It's a little frustrating that this theater wont allow you to just sit anywhere, but it's just a minor inconvenience. more
