Disappointing doctors 3/16/2011

Good: The waiting room is clean, and the wait to go back to a room to see a doctor isn't long. You're told if you've waited more than 15 minutes to let the front people know.. Bad: Dr. Truong does not look patients in the eye when she comes in the room to see you. She doens't give any explanation of what may be wrong and what to expect. It's like she's in a huge hurry. Dr. Wong is judgmental. He, too, does not explain what he thinks the problem is. My son had an infection in his mouth with painful blisters and could barely open his mouth. Dr. Wong visibly showed how he was annoyed with my son's breath. Very unprofessional. He didn't offer any advice on how to minimize the pain.. Improvements: I would like to see the doctors actually sit down and talk with you. They need to explain what's going on, why they're giving you a particular prescription, and what you can expect to happen from that point forward.. Other: Dr. O'Brien does take time to talk with her patients. She's an exception to most of the doctors at this location.. more

Outrageous overcharge for flu shot 6/20/2009

I went in as a new patient about a diabetes issue. Had to wait more than an hour to get seen. Nurse offered a flu shot, and I figured, why not, since I'm here and they are $20 at Costco. Well, they aren't $20 here....just $54. Wasn't covered by two insurance providers, and I didn't get the post insurance billing until 6 months after ARC said it was denied by insurance. Beware if you ask for anything you can get anywhere/somewhere else. I guess they charge you for your waiting time. more

Borderline Unethical 2/16/2009

It took the nurse a month and after 4 calls to get a call back for a lab result. When the nurse called back she was more interested in arguing than providing information. She states she had posted the records on the call line, despite having another nurse stating 4 weeks ago that she did not see it on the call line. I told her I just wanted my test results as I had been fainting and did not wish to argue with her. When I went to the clinic to get my lab result, she states that it would be two weeks for the records because they didn't have enough resources and it wouldn't be fair to the other patients. ARC weren't being fair to THIS patient much less any other patient. Then they informed me if i were to pay $25 dollars I could get my lab results in 24 hours. Then I asked if I made an appointment to see the doctor would she be able to copy two pages of the lab result for me, the answer was there are no guarantees. Despite having fainted 5 times in the last year and waiting a month for a call back regarding lab results. more

Over charges for services 11/4/2008

ARC has been over charging us for too long now. It has gotten to the point that whatever portion insurance does not cover (because their fees are outrageous)ARC turns around and bills you the consumer. We have refused to pay these items, because our insurance company has let us know that we DO NOT Have to pay these items. Guess what, they have sent us to collections for $50, $975, $300 etc...Not only is it showing up on my husbands credit report, but the same charges are showing up on mine as well. more

Wait time is absolulutely terrible 12/4/2007

I am a pretty easy going guy who doesn't mind waiting but I had my fill off it last month after I was made to wait for 1.5 hours before the doctor was able to see me (she was great and very apologetic since she had been quadruple-booked by the incompetent staff). After that, it took another 2 hours before X-Rays could be performed. Apparently, I was told, the radiology is owned by a separate company who runs things differently and even more incompetently than ARC. All this waiting around wouldn't have been so bad (I had brought my laptop in anticipation) except that it was 4 times out 4 visits that I waited in excess of 3+ hours. Each time when I asked to talk to the manager, I was either rudely treated by the receptionist (one even shut her window on my face) or told that that just the way it was in medicine; basically, "get over it". This is the first bad review I have given anything in my life. This place has really passionately pissed me off :) more

Disasterous Experience at Austin Regional Clinic 2/16/2007

If you are looking for the "Mcdonald's of Drive Thru Medicine", then ARC is your kinda place. The staff is very friendly but many of these hires (apparently the turnover is frequent) do not know insurance and you will most likely be given a difficult time. I, for one, was told by the receptionist in Round Rock that I needed a referral -- and she got real nasty, shoved a form at me and said I must sign it -- until I took my insurance card back and showed her in the corner where it said "full access, no referral necessary" ! And I had been a patient there for a year and previously no one ever treated me that way. Not so much as an apology from the young lady. I was forced to make an appointment (even though many tell me a telephone call by the MD to the pharmacy is sufficient) just to get my long time prescription changed to a generic type. I then was kept in the little examination room for 70 minutes -- no exaggeration -- 70 minutes!!! At the 30 minute mark I finally inquired and was told "you are next" before another 40 minutes elapsed. Then when he entered the room, the physician inquired why they made me pay for an appointment when it was a simple Rx renewal as generic! And when I remarked that I'd been waiting for 70 minutes -- he said well, that's just the way medicine is !!!!!!!!! Ha! He wouldn't dare let someone keep him waiting, you can bet. So that was the bad experience and when you want to bring it up to a customer service oriented owner of the practice -- good luck! They don't want to hear it in the McDonalds of Drive Thru Medicine. more

Mad house. 8/18/2005

I first had to wait over an HOUR just to talk to the receptionist and fill out the paperwork. She then forgot about me and looked at me as though I were from Mars when I asked when I would be able to see the doctor. The doctor spent MAYBE 4 minutes with me and shoved me out the door with a bag of sample drugs, like it was Halloween candy. No guidance, no recommended solutions, just a bunch of "uh huh"s and knowing I was being treated like a lab rat. more

Friendly staff - after hours clinic - positive experience 8/12/2005

I have had a positive experience with this clinic so far. Aside from the friendly staff, and great service (no waiting for more than 15 minutes), there is an after hours clinic open until 8:00 pm 7 days a week at the Far West clinic, and nurses available to answer questions 24 hours a day by phone. Really helps when you are a first time parent and are constantly needing answers about your baby. Our whole family has their own primary care physician at this clinic. The pediatricians are outstanding - haven't met one I didn't like. There is, however, one doctor that I was not impressed with (Dr Merryman), but you will always have one in the bunch that you won't care for. The only thing that I am unimpressed with is not being able to make a next day appointment. I have called several times to try and make an appointment for the next day, only to be turned down because most of their time slots are for same day appointments. That means you get to wait on hold the next morning for 10 minutes. Overall, I would highly recommend this clinic. more

Only Good to Go To if you Absolutely Have To 7/12/2005

Before I had found a good family doctor, I used this place. The Far West location is open late (for a slightly higher fee) so it was very convenient. I was just never satisfied with the doctors I received here. I didn't feel that they knew what they were doing -- especially since they had a tendency to shove antibiotics at every problem. And the wait in the evening hours is atrocious. However, it is a good service for someone who may be without insurance or who needs a doctor quickly. I just wouldn't make it a regular thing if you can help it. more
