Run don't Walk from this place 11/5/2011

Run don't walk away from this place. I took my mom out for an early dinner on Saturday. After we were seated our waitress came over and served us water. She did not introduce herself or tell us what the specials were that evening. After we place our order, the fun started. The appetizer that came with the chef's tasting menu had missing items, then came my my soup, well let's just say the first bowl was cold and the wrong soup. I told our waitress and she argued with me saying it ws the correct soup, she then grab the bowl from the table and returend with another bowl of soup and yes it was wrong too. The salads arrived and were the highlight of the night! Then came the main course.... Well I have never had a tough filet mignon (cooked medium) but i did tonight, not to mention it was cold and covered with beef consume (yuk) I don't even use steak sauce.. the potatoes had to be betty crocker, and the asparagus had so much salt it was inedible. My mom had the seafood relleno and two hours later had it again she got sick. I called and spoke with the owner who was apologetic and wanted to know if we would like to come back and give this place a second chance. I tried not to laugh and told her NO........ Please think twice before going to this place it is not worth it........ more

Snobs R Us 10/27/2011

A friend and I had never been here and thought we could stop in for a quick bite on Wednesday at 6pm. There are about 15 tables inside and another 6 or 7 tables outside. 3 tables inside were occupied, none outside. The waiter just looked us up & down and wanted to know if we had reservations. We did not know they were required, so the answer was no. He just rudely said you have to talk with Ann and walked away. In a while Ann appeared and just said, ""We don't take walk-ins, we're booked"". She turned and walked away. It would have at least been nice to at least hear, I'm sorry we can't accommodate you at this time or something like that, but total rudeness is uncalled for. So, I will make sure to stay clear of this shabby, snobby little ""bistro"". more

Horrible Customer Service 5/8/2010

I visited the Boardwalk Bistro on May 8, 2010 to entertain out of town guests. I made a reservation for 5:30 p.m. for a party of 7. I have dined at this establishment on several occasions for business and personal reasons and never experienced unacceptable customer service. However on this evening my customer service experience was unacceptable. Our order was placed at 6:30 p.m. however we did not receive our until 8:00 p.m. There were no explanations offered. When the food was served it was not served at the same time, so we did not begin eating until 8:15 p.m. Several customers that arrived after us received their food and finished eating before our food was served. There was no explanation or updates offered by our waiter Mark other than the statement ""small tables are served before large tables"". We had to ask the waiter filling the water glasses for updates on our order because Mark did not come back to our table. When we questioned Mark about the delay he offered nothing more than excuses. When we expressed our dissatisfaction and asked to speak with the owner, Mark sent the head chef over and stated the owner was to busy to see us. I know the owner was there because I saw her in the bar area throughout the evening. Mark did not offer any accommodations for the inconvenience other than dessert at 8:45 at night. The head chef was apologetic and offered a 30% discount immediately to accommodate for the delay, which is more than Mark did. However when Mark presented the bill, the discount on the bill was only for 20%. It was at this point Mark stated he should have charged us gratuity because he worked hard and deserved it. The question of whether or not a waiter earned their gratuity should be based on customer satisfaction not the waiters perception. When questioned about the error Mark informed us that the cashier didn't take off for the wine and he was the only one who knows how to use a computer in the restaurant. Mark offered nothing but excuses the entire evening. As a result of the error the bill had to be recalculated which caused an additional delay. During the conversation regarding the bill Mark was too casual and addressed the women in our party as girl and Hun as if we were children and he became argumentative. This behavior was rude and unprofessional. With the exception of our grandmother everyone at our table is a college educated working professional, so the issue was never about paying the bill it is the principal of getting what you pay for and not wasting your customers time. Mark is a poor representation of your establishment. The dining experience is not just about the food it is about the service. The service is what separates any establishment from it's competitors. Pros: Acceptable, good presentation Cons: Horrible customer service: rude, dishonest, unprofessional more

Terrible Customer Service! 1/8/2010

After looking through 6 restaurant websites, my friends and I chose to go this restaurant to make a special evening out before a Broadway Show. The menu looked great and came for dinner with big appetite hoping for several courses. I overestimated the service I would receive from such a high-priced restaurant. A couple of the party came promptly at the restaurant for the 5:30 reservation and the rest of the party arrived 15 minutes later. When we arrived, our table was not yet set, which is not too terrible but indicated unpreparedness. We waited patiently, got some water and soon the rest of our friends arrived. We ordered our dinner within a few minutes (around 5:50). The wine came soon, however it took a long time to bring the bread (very stingy on the bread) and the salad. We waited until 7 o'clock, super hungry by that time, had to talk with the waiter about our time frame. By that time we did not have our entree for 1:10 minutes and had to notify that we had to leave soon because parking for a Broadway Show takes a long time. The waiter assured us that the entrees will be ready in time. At 7:30 there is no sign of food, we were all starving. That was the final straw, we had to leave. For such an awful, awful, and awful service, they still charged us for the dinner plus what they brought, which was not satisfactory. As far as the management is concerned the owner lighted our candles at the table where we sat, thus she knew exactly when we arrived. After 2 hours of waiting, not only she did not come to apologize for the extremely long wait for the entrees, she charged us an astronomic amount for the dinner. If the owner has such an attitude toward their patrons, just imagine what the staff might be like? Do they care? I don't think so. If she took a little time to ponder the long-term effect of her attitude and behavior, I would have been a long-term customer instead of a customer writing this review. To sum up, great job on your website, the customer service is terrible, only HOPE to eat, and you may exit the restaurant disappointed, starving, and having to run on a high heel to make it to your show before the theatre locks the door. more

Bad Customer service! 1/8/2010

My friends and I were going to see the Lion King and decided to make a special evening out of it and go to a nice restaurant. We made a reservation for 5:30 so we would have ample time to eat relax and get to the show. Part of our party arrived promptly at 5:30. The staff was not ready for us and they had to wait for the tables to be arranged. The rest of our party arrived at 5:45 where the waiter informed us he ""was the only one working and he was really overwhelmed."" It took around 15 minutes just to get water on the table, another 20 for bread where he brought 5 roles for a party of 6. We had to wait another 10 minutes or more to flag him down to bring us more. The salads brought to us had a weak caesar dressing and mushy tomatoes and the person who ordered a garden salad was given iceberg lettuce with dried out veggies. at this point it's almost 7. We can leave no later than 7:30 to make our show and even that time is pushing it. We told our waiter we needed to make an 8 o'clock show and he informed us it would be 3 more minutes. So we order another bottle of wine, our waiter brings it out uncorked and leaves it on the table for another 15 minutes! We told him to take it back. At 7:25 we make the call to leave. There was a cupel behind us who arrived after us, ordered after us and got their food before us and left before us! One of us stayed to talk to the manager and take care of whatever we needed to. The person who at the time we thought was the manager, turned out she was the owner, gave us a short apology and an excuse that they had a funeral earlier that day. Then she asked us if we would pay a 1/3rd of the bill. In which we said NO! but we will pay for the wine we drank and even the salad. This was the first we saw anyone in a management position and we were in this place for 2 hours with no food. I have been in lesser establishments where mistakes were made and the management bent over backwards, with out us asking, to make it right. We were celebrating a 30th birthday, 2 people had never been to a broadway show before, one of our friends is pregnant and another hypoglycemic. We left hungry and angry that we had to pay for a crummy salad and service to match. Because we left so late we had to sprint to the theater to make it in time and made it with literally a minute to spare. I'm not sure what the food tastes like but we will never return to this restaurant. My friend called Sunday, Monday and Tuesday before she was able to talk to a manager (which is how we discovered the person we talked to on Saturday was the owner). She was told that the waiter was fired but to be honest he was only part of the problem. Anyone could have notice that we had been in the restaurant for a large amount of time with no entree, thats a management error. The waiter barley knew the menu, I have friends who are servers and if you don't know the menu you don't serve. That was a management error. If we had received some kind of offer to compensate the terrible evening I would be giving a different review. more

Good place to meet or take a date 12/8/2009

The food is great here. I've come here at least 3 times, not disappointed. It's a bit expensive, so I don't come often, but it's always a treat. My husband took me here when we were first dating, it has a really romantic atmosphere. Sometimes they have live entertainment, at least they did the first time I went (on a Friday night), and that really made the visit fun. There's even vegetarian options that taste great. Pros: food, service, entertainment Cons: kind of pricey more

good food, a little over charged 11/28/2009

I have been there for 3 times, and the food was good. The plates... were broken. Well this is bad, but you can expect your next visit is used with different plate. (All the plates on my table were different designed, as everytime) I wonder if they have more than 3 plates with the same design. Lunch was good. Sometimes you even can see and talk to the chef when you walk in. We were having a good conversation, as he was seating in front of the gate without letting me know he was the chef. Well, we were the first people arrived that day. Bad dinner place, as the menu was notthing too different but almost charge twice I feel. Good lunch place, if you want to have a nice lunch. Pros: good lunch place Cons: a little over charged almost more

Fantastic Mediterranean Cuisine! 5/16/2007

Boardwalk Bistro is such a charming little escape so close to downtown! I like the daily specials.....there is always a rustic, old world style special. The lamb ragout is out of this world, as are the tagines, and boulibaisse. But I've dined on a poached salmon there as well that was impeccably prepared. Wine selections are solid. Plus live music during the week is a nice to dine by. Highly recommend! Pros: The daily specials, daily wines by the glass, exotic spices and flavors spun with traditional ingredients more

Good Mediterranean menu 6/23/2006

Pretty good service. Expect a little bit of a wait for your foodEuropean style. OK atmosphere, but nothing to get excited aboutthe place was actually pretty empty for a Saturday evening. The Caesar salad was bland. Crab-stuffed salmon tasted good, but not excellent. Presentation of food was very nice. Menu selection isn't huge, but if you're looking for some good Mediterranean fare, give it a shot. I don't know if I'll be back or not. Pros: Uniqueness of menu, presentation of food Cons: Bland Caesar salad more

Lunch Specials 6/2/2006

I try having lunch at Broadway Bistro every other week. Never have gone wrong with their advertised special for the day. more

GREAT COZY ATMOSPHERE 8/18/2005

Truly enjoy this cozy place for great dining and entertainment. Its great for a nite with someone special or just hang out with your girlfriends and chat! Food is great, desserts are to die for, service excellent, and ZAMAR plays great salsa jazz sounds to make the nite complete. more

From Everyday to Gourmet 2/13/2005

Absolutely loved the tapas influenced appetizers. The use of the sauces for presentation were very impressive. after deciding on the entrees we ordered a bottle of Marques de Casares rioja, which was very smooth and paired well with the hot and crunchy trout and the seafood paella. As if the food was not enough we ordered dessert. My friend enjoyed the tiramasu and I have never had a pear dessert so delicious. We have plans on returning for the lamb tagine for dinner soon. Pros: open mid day, assortment of menu, excellent wine Cons: closed on Sunday more

Relaxing Fun Dinner! 10/11/2002

The decor / atmosphere is a little dowdy, but very comfortable. The service and food were both fantastic - best dolmas I have had in a long time! We will be back! Pros: variety of flavors, cosy chairs, quiet nooks Cons: cluttered entry more
